Prozac, sly dog that he is (and also rational human being that he is) has totally underplayed that 2017 will be the
FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY UK MEET PARTYPALOOZA
with all that entails! After a year away in Blackpool, we're back at the venue that has served us so well before and it'll definitely be the best EVER, thereby making it only more mandatory for everyone on the site to attend.

I haven't thought about this at all but I'm committing right now to the following fifth-anniversary celebrations:
  • Every meet attendee automatically entered into a raffle of whatever Mafiascum/meet memorabilia I can find in my room, signed as the scummer of your choice
  • AT LEAST ONE game of mafia to be played at the meet
  • Finally taking the fan out of the cupboard after spending three years periodically opening the cabin door for cooling

Also don't you have the package currently?
I do! Someone foreign should come so that they can take it back with them.

Keep an eye out! There are few things that I would love more than to see some more transatlantic friends joining us.

In case anyone needs any further incentives to come, tonight I sat down to start work on a Game of Thrones-themed murder mystery.

There is a bus stop close to the lodge which can also get you into Burton (or the opposite direction, I guess).

I'll play anything for an invitational.

I had another amazing time with everyone at the meet; thank you all so much for coming. I will post photos when I get back from
being held prisoner in Fences' board game dungeon
helping out voluntarily at Nationals.

Our head chefs.

There are crashes aplenty in Robo Rally, meanwhile.

Image
Max and Bella chillin' with some foods.

Image
Before we can get to the murder mystery, we have the now-traditional poker tournament.

When each player gets eliminated, they go to get changed. Nexus returns in costume to oversee the final showdown.

As you can tell from the above, I finally got a bit of spare time after coming back from Nottingham and so I'll just take the opportunity to once again thank everyone who came to our fifth Eastermeet! It's always such a pleasure to spend time with you all, in this little corner of the world that feels kinda like our home away from home. You know how much I love you all by now.

To anyone who's not been before and is considering coming next year: please do it! I adore my UK scummers family but we are always, always thrilled to get to know new faces (or get another glimpse at some we've seen before when across the pond!). As long as 'being nice to people who are nice to you right back' is something you're into, then there's a seat waiting for you at one of our Greater Idea games.

In post 100, Fenchurch wrote:I'm not sure if anyone else has recorded the excellent story of meet-newbie Chris, who lasted 3 night phases as a fakeclaimed mason, in a 4-player game with 2 actual masons (CDB and Patrick). He insisted that he'd waved at them in the night but they'd failed to see him, and it was only when they requested a 3rd 'bonus' night phase that they realised he definitely wasn't waking up with them.
Oh my word, how could we have left this out until now! It was one of the most wonderfully ballsy plays I've ever seen face-to-face, executed as perfectly as it could have been.

Day 1: Patrick and I claim mason, so does Chris, Primate's sitting there very confused. Patrick and I chuckle about how we totally missed Chris in the night. We have a discussion about whether the gag is that one of the masons are scum or that none of them are. Chris decides that it
must
be one of the masons or the game would be pointless, and votes Patrick. Patrick and I insist that Prozac absolutely would deal us a setup as silly as one scum + three masons and both want to lynch Primate, but Chris absolutely will not be persuaded. Reluctantly, we vote No Lynch to see who dies.

Night 1: We don't normally do a mason phase after Night 0 but I jokingly insist that we are given one (because it's just funny to have a night phase where 75% of people have their eyes open at the same time). We are reluctantly allowed a mason phase, during which I furiously point at Primate and try to get Chris's attention.

Day 2: Nobody died. We're back where we were, me and Patrick trying to convince Chris that Primate is scum. It takes five whole minutes for me to realise that I didn't get Chris's attention because his eyes weren't open. Everyone laughs their heads off and we No Lynch to get another night phase.

Night 2: Patrick and I stare at Chris while pissing ourselves laughing at his perfectly composed face, eyes tightly shut.

Day 3: We lynch Chris, he's a lyncher on Patrick.

He sold the initial claim
so well
that even literally seeing him with his eyes closed wasn't enough to instantly shatter the illusion.
