I feel bad for missing Spider Man (it SEEMED familiar, I knew I had seen it), Armageddon (not as much, since I have seen it but not particularly memorized details from it), and Batman and Robin (I SAW that film!), but otherwise, no regrets for missing the ones I missed.

Please tell me that most of the challenges in Clash of the Mash won't require showing up at

I mean, a challenge starting at "this time", and ending "this later time"? That's pretty standard, you get that in mafia games all the time, and even if it's a tight deadline of 24 hours, I can guarantee you I'll have access short of some catastrophic internet failure.

A challenge requiring being around at

specific time, like a marathon game?
Not so much. I never played many marathon games for good reason: they always had that strict scheduling that doesn't mesh well with my OWN scheduling.

I mean, I

do that. At least I think I can. If I can't, then it'll be an unwilling/accidental violation that gets me kicked out, rather than me going, "fuck this!" and quitting.
It's just that it's HELL for someone like me, who has an inconsistent schedule, to outline a whole day's schedule for a forum game, and whether you realize it or not...that's exactly what I'm being asked to do.

What the heck is a saucepan?
A pan for sauces?

I literally have no clue what that is, and challenge rules prevent me from looking

anything

up.

The other words are easy.
Therapy I go to, so I know lots of synonyms.
Chairs I use.
Blizzard was admittedly a little challenging.
Intelligent is something I'm often called.
Pony is something I knew would take some setup but be easy to pull off.
Flying I mentioned 'high' and 'kite', since that's what I associate with flight. (Song lyrics are to blame.)
Lamps are for TVTropes.
Clash I'm surprised STD is having trouble with since my first thought with 'titans', plural, is Clash OF the Titans.
Vegetarian I was stupid for saying eat instead of eater since it was close enough already.
Orange is a common fruit.
Binding is another troublesome word because we're in the right zone, but there are literally dozens of words involving ropes and whatnot, so it's just a matter of communication.
Extreme's easy enough.
Whales are easy enough.
And whips make a snapping or a cracking noise.

But SAUCEPAN?

What the heck is a SAUCEPAN?!?

I could have done better if I wasn't worried about the "too similar" rule.
That rule meant I could take a 12-point penalty.

So, of course I knew snowstorm, but was terrified it was too close to use. (I used just snow.)
I was also a bit worried flagellate was too close, but at that point I had to risk it.
I was worried that "smart" was too close to "intelligent", which is why I didn't use it.
I also goofed by having 'eat' rather than 'eater' for plants, since that would've saved me a point there.

So, I could've had some slightly better scores there.

For saucepan, Xalxe first had me guess "pan" (with "pot" as the clue) and then "sauce" (with "marinara" as the clue). Then his next two clues were "combine" "answers"... and I figured out what he was getting at.

I tried that!
It's just that it took me too long to convey "sauce", I didn't quite get "pan" to him, and "combine" didn't quite work. (I tried "contraction" to help.)

You've got to be kidding me.
My answer was pretty close not only to the drawing I was given, but also to the starting sentence.

If you'd sent me that in a non-competitive game, I'd have asked you to abridge it.

If the game wasn't competitive, I wouldn't bother with writing something that specific.

When I played the game, after all, we had like one minute to interpret the drawings. I can't write a lengthy sentence that fast in the first place.

I mean, if we're playing for no purpose, I'd take artistic liberties for the sake of taking artistic liberties. I wouldn't deliberately screw the drawing up, but I'd be a lot looser with my interpretation specifically because that's the fun in the game: trying to pass the thing on, but with your own touch added to it, your own style.

But, I mean. With it being COMPETITIVE. Darn right I'm fond of loophole abuse.

As a lifeguard I can confirm that sleeping is indeed the number one thing we are explicitly told we are NOT to do.

This is literally THE second thing we're told not to do. Like, literally.
Number one is not sleeping.
Number two is not talking on the phone.
It's what we are told, time and time again, like on a monthly basis.

We have a hardfast RULE, which we get monthly reminders on, "Limit conversations with patrons to less than 20 seconds". There's a reason we have that rule! Not only does it look bad for the lifeguards, it's also incredibly unsafe, and so blatantly so that patrons who notice it KNOW it is unsafe (see also, looks bad for the lifeguards).

It's up there with sleeping and talking on a phone.
