I've gotten it a few times myself. The exclamation means you've lost connection to the chat server. Haven't pinned down a cause yet but it's possibly a side effect of the chat server not rebooting in weeks(I used to have it auto-restart every 24 hours).

Usually simply reloading the page will reconnect you just fine.
