There's already multiple noble claims, too late for that.

Though if some nobles wanna stay hidden for now, that's cool. Softing noble claims is the problem, since you might waste a pledge by pledging your loyalty to a player who isn't actually a noble. I suppose that's also solved by not pledging your loyalty to them, though.

Also, if they are not actually nobles, you can pledge to someone else the day phase afterwards.

Seeing how theres an option for people to suicide, I wouldnt be too surprised if theres some effect where being loyal to the wrong person can end badly for you

It's still a waste if the reward for being loyal to a noble is good.

I had to check the OP again, hadn't noticed that. Could also be part of the Geass-flavor, like if you're forced to do something against your alignment and you want to stop doing so.

i saw the show long ago and hated it...so i dont remember much
but i do remember some people had the power to control other people's actions
so maybe suicide is an out for town if they find themselves trapped in a situation like that
