The primary antagonist will be Pine, who will be a "

Once the player list is established, he and I will pick players to be on our respective teams, draft-style, and the battle will commence. My Setup vs. His manipulative abilities... with the players we choose. Let the speculation begin.

Yeah, but what you're not understanding is that a few years ago, 150 pages would have been one of the all-time longest games. Rolling In The Deep (NY142) was in the 160s or something (a bunch of the pages were eaten in the Great Tiger Attack of '11-'12 - CONSTANT VIGILANCE) and it was I think second longest for a while. Its D1 lasted 84 pages, and was briefly THE longest day on record.

Now, those numbers are unremarkable. A large game's D1 hits 100 pages as often as not, and no one blinks if it tops 200 pages by the end of the game. Now there are D1s that are as long as those epic old games, and some games are topping 500 pages. They're also getting faster paced. Anyone who's been around a while will tell you that most of the really talented older players have been drifting away from the site, or restricting themselves to semi-invitational games like Camn's Revenge.

I have a much longer manifesto about this, and I'm designed a massive large game with an eye towards combating these unhealthy trends.

/in to mod

Are you a bit fed up with shitposting? Do you long for the days when Mafia was played at a more sedate, serene pace? Where people actually put decent effort into their posts, and didn't spam up the game?

Concise Mafia
is for you!

I am playtesting a semi-experimental mechanic by which everyone is limited to one post per 24-hour period. This is meant to force people to think before they post, and give real consideration to what they're saying. Can you make yourself heard with only one post per (real) day?

Game Name: Concise Mafia

Flavor/Mechanics:
Everyone will be restricted to one post per real day. Bare votes and unvotes don't count.

Are there restrictions for who can play your game?

Is it possible your game has any of the following bastard roles or mechanics?
cults, mid-game alignment changes, moderator lies that cannot be reasonably anticipated (for example, Godfather, Tailor, Miller, Ninja, and mechanics like that are generally fine. Telling someone they are a reflexive doctor when they're actually a PGO is not), secret win conditions, un-divulged non-randomness in player role/alignment generation, direct moderator influence during the game

Mama, just killed a man...

/in to mod

Game Name:
Mad Scientist Mafia
Flavor/Mechanics:
Everyone is an Inventor! Unfortunately, only some of you are competent, and some of you are a bit cracked. A few are downright dangerous. Inventions are semi-random, and you may not be sure what you're inventing or whether it worked.
Your Experience:
Pine's Death Trap. Also another mini Normal years ago that was eaten by tigers. T-Bone, you were in it!
Current Modding Commitments:
Nada. Camn's Revenge II will start soon, but Alisae's modding it.
Reviewed By:
Working on it.
Back-Up or Co-Mod:
Looking for a backup.
Number of Players:
13
Hydrae:
Sure, why not?
Restrictions:
I will be using the Geriatric ruleset. Basically don't shitpost and you're okay. WotM in effect.
: All players will have the option to send an invention to someone at night. You don't know what your invention does. Once a target is chosen, I will secretly roll on a table. Some will work, some will fail, some may even blow up!

I recommend against GuyinFreezer's Game-Throwing Mafia, it looks to have unusual mechanics and a pregame process which appears to require knowledge of site meta and/or history.

BrassHerald's American Presidents Mafia looks fun, I'd join it if I weren't at my personal limit. I've made myself available to replace in at a later date, though.

May I point you to the Normal game queue, though? Theme games have fewer guidelines, and often presume a degree of experience. There is a Mini (13 players) and a Large (17 players) in sign-ups right now. I'm modding the Large, and I can guarantee it to be a smooth ride for a new player.
