It's a six-hour road trip unless you do the highly recommended Pacific Coast Highway route, which will add a few hours but you'll see one of the most beautiful coastlines in the country.
Some friends and I did the six hour version the better part of a year ago. I thought it was *quite* scenic between the miles of farmland and the frequent signs imploring people to ignore the drought.

nah but.

I obviously have a bias for as north as possible, but i ultimately don't actually care *too* much if it did wind up being better to move south.

I *can* commute if space winds up being an issue. I think it's around a half hour drive for me; I'd just commute anyway but I don't have a car so I'd prefer to stay in the airbnb. That said, if, for instance, there's one day where eleven people want to stay at it I could just take a Lyft home and back the next day and I wouldn't mind. I'd prefer not to every day but if space winds up being an issue I could.

My current consideration of a game to purchase partially for this in a fit of irresponsibility, incidentally, is captain sonar. Other likely candidates for me to bring depending on interest and or whims:

Evolution
Roll for the galaxy
7 wonders duel +pantheon expansion
Concordia
Tash kalar
Mafia de Cuba
Codenames

Some other stuff but I'm getting bored of listing things and may continue at some other time.

I should be able to bring my copy of ra. TBH I have thought basically zero about packing so far but my way of getting to the meet is most likely a Lyft and I should just be able to take like a duffel bag of clothes and a suitcase or just a stack of board games.

Planning to go for the entire time. Probably intending to leave after work on Friday and head back Wednesday.

If our times do coincide or can be molded to I would be more than happy to hitch a ride.

yeah so i (impulse-?)purchased:
-captain sonar
-ethnos
-one night ultimate alien
-fuse

and can add those to the list of things i will bring.

I will probably just legit bring a suitcase of board games. If that's enough room.

Why 6? Is first mate just not an especially interesting role? It seemed like it might be that way from a skim of the rules but I'd be quite happy if it is still good with 6 since it'd mean that the game is effectively flexible enough to support 6-8 rather than a hard 8.

I would like to if possible be picked up at basically any time on Friday (I'm happy to leave work early or not). I'm about 35 minutes away and am not sure when zoraster who lives right near me is planning to leave but if he's going at all on Friday then I'd like to hitch a ride with him? If not then if anyone else who is able would be nice, and barring that, I'll just take a lyft. I'd prefer getting a ride mostly just because it means i can stuff arbitrarily many board games into someone's car without feeling like i'm making a mockery of myself to society at large.

I still need to figure out
exactly
what set of games I'm bringing but it's probably going to amount to everything that I can fit in a suitcase + a couple more that i'll stuff in a duffel bag w/ clothes or carry by hand.

I was thinking from home but actually either way should work. Only issue with leaving from work would be getting luggage there but I can deal with that without too much hassle. Basically any time from early afternoon to evening works for me. Or conceivably earlier. There's nothing specific I have scheduled on Friday.

When I get home today I can start to actually pack them. I can also provide a list of all the games I own. I'll probably bring everything with a small box but I agree coordination will be good. I don't own betrayal or shadow hunters or 7 wonders fwiw. The only one I know I'm bringing 100% is ra based on earlier discussion.

Assuming that you are going to be there on one of the days then yes~

Alright. At present moment I have a suitcase that contains the following games:

Big boxes:
Ra
Captain Sonar
Ethnos
Roll for the galaxy

Not-especially-big boxes:
Parade
Arboretum
One Night Ultimate Alien
Fuse
Codenames
Mafia de Cuba
7 Wonders: Duel + Pantheon
Patchwork

Somewhat completely arbitrary, and somewhat optimizing for a complex combinatory function involving how much I like the game, how good it's considered to be, how many players it plays with, and box size. There is still some room conceivably and I actually probably want to pack it a bit tighter so things jostle less in theory. Patchwork and 7 wonders duel are probably on the shortlist for being exclusively 2-player, but their boxes are both medium-small.

The following are ALL of the games (besides pandemic legacy) that I have that are not in the suitcase:

Concordia
The Castles of Burgundy
Terra Mystica
Tash-Kalar
Splendor
Evolution
Summoner Wars Master Set

If you want to see something in that latter list, possibly in addition to and possibly in exchange for something from the former list, say so before Friday or forever hold your tongue.

Also I had an epiphany about splendor that it is basically free to bring if I just move it from its 90% empty space box to a plastic bag or something.

oh don't worry. Yesterday some people started a game of what was referred to, to me, MoS and others, only as "Rex". We would later find out that this game is actually Twilight Imperium: Rex, at which MoS and I both had the identical reaction of "oh, so that's why they've been playing for 3 hours..."

About 3 hours after we made this revelation, they finished it.

Also would recommend escape room. Much fun.

I'm home so I guess it's my turn to write an epitaph.

This has been truly an amazing time, with great games and much, much greater people. All of you are all that I was hoping you were and more. I'm impressed that there is such a dense concentration of people from the same place can all be so genuinely wonderful people. I think this was the first time I met anyone from MS in real life, and it very certainly will not be the last.

Highlights that are definitely not stolen from Gamma include the escape room and two rooms and a boom, which may have been the happiest I've ever been to lose a game (damn you Alisae!)

Special thanks, of course: Llama, for setting everything up. Llama, for spending a third of the meet in his car. Llama + whoever else, for managing to keep the house stocked with infinite turkey sandwiches. Llama and also very much Equinox, for somehow managing to endure organizing things like a constantly changing set of 6-12 people going to an escape room at some undetermined time with grace. Zoraster, for the ride to the meet. Everyone who brought games, especially MoS for bringing the day to day rotation which was really great. Literally everyone (although I guess that isn't special thanks) for just being damn fun people.

Excited for the next time I get to see each of you, wherever in California or elsewhere it will be :)

I think Equinox might have one of these as well which will have some other things.

My list of all games that I played, possibly with stuff missing, and with some notable games annotated with things to remember them by:

Spoiler:
Day one:
Nominally on mos team for betrayal
One night ultimate alien
Leaders of euphoria (cult breaking strategy?)
Codenames

Day two:
Splendor (photo finish with Titus)
Zendo
Mafia
Dead last (crazy photo finish with mos and iec)
House of Borgia
San Guo sha
Masquerade

Day three:
Evolution
Ethnos
The grizzled
Smash 4
Shadow hunters (lol survivor acquiescing to threats)
Sabotile (unreleased kickstarter)
Escape room victory

Day four:
Roll for the galaxy
Parade
The builders Middle Ages
Ra (this never actually happened as far as vi and I are concerned)
Mafia
Shadow hunters
Two rooms and a boom (definitely another highlight + hot potato breaking up the me-gamma-dan love triangle)
Emergence (on stream)
Smash (incl all lucario temple game)

Day five:
Smash (1v1s with vi)
Sentinels of the multiverse (saved by the meteor storm at literally one hp each)
San Guo sha
Council of Verona
Dark moon
San Guo sha again (renegade healer op)
Mysterium (what even is a barbell)
Antidote (why is pink drink so healthy)

Day six:
Smash (2p events w/ vi)
Infinite questions (mostly while waiting for laundry)

Alisae kept throwing out purple antidotes. Why, Alisae, why?
This is ironic, because in the last round of our antidote game I was dealt the purple 3, 4 and 5. I held on to all of them until the last few cards (I had all three of them and one other card), and I was acting sufficiently suspiciously that Dan decided he needed to syringe one of those delicate purple vials from my hand. Of course, I'm right after dan, and use his gracious gift to steal an X card from in front of Llama... and it is, of course, the purple X card.

Did troll Iec and MoS into holding their purples until the end so it was ultimately worth it.

Literally the one game that I remember reading significantly into something you said to me you were lying :(

(Specifically when you said that one totem was mine in sabotile I thought you might have a significant chance of telling the truth and I spent the rest of the game mostly only really keeping track of that totem, not that I ever had a chance to grab it >.>)

There is certainly at least a 50% chance that I just completely lost track of it which I think is understandable because I was impressed with how anyone ever kept track of anything in that game.

Also we probably maybe played at least one mafia game together that I won?
