did I accidentally leave it on again? lol oops

you can move the tpads. when you break it, the ender crystal pops out. place the pad wherever and then right click with the crystal to put it back. be careful not to shift right click though! you'll reset the teleport coordinates in the crystal.

Sorry yall! I've been seriously busy with class. I'm trying to make it possible for others to contribute - I know arch, dav, gabe, you guys have always been so great! - I just need to find some time to actually sit down and make that happen.

Maruchan - whitelisted.

As a note, my summer class is over Aug 10th. So I do apologize that everything kind of ground to a halt - I hadn't expected the work load to be as much as it turned out to be. But I miss mc terribly and I do have plans to finalize the server. :)

This is usually a connectivity issue - internet or connection to the node. Our nodes are in Chicago (I believe) so if you are connecting from across the pond, you may have issues, especially if your home internet is slower to begin with.

SoL is client side only so get rid of it. it's there to show food/saturation values.

curse client is fine I guess. I don't have much experience with it. but it would be more user friendly for non-modded-experienced players who don't want to learn how to fiddle with mmc.

as far as I can tell, there's really no issue with using curse as a mode of delivery. we just have to figure out all the quirks.

yeah plus updated mods on old server and other worldgen nonsense, default configs, stuff like that. once I'm done with configs and reset world, should be a lot smoother.

Official MafiaScum Minecraft Server NEWS!


Hallo!! As you may have noticed, activity regarding getting a server going, maintaining a server, etc, has slowed down quite a bit over the last year. Unfortunately, my time obligations have increased to the point where I am no longer able to keep up with needed updates. As such,
davesaz
(Archreplicator) has stepped up to help out, and ultimately, take over as admin for the server and this thread. :] He will be the main man when it comes to getting the modpacks together, releasing information here in the thread, and general admin activities. I'm still available to help as needed of course, and I'm fine continuing to maintain hosting for the server. I assume he will also select a co-admin to help out.

So, what does this really mean?
It means news updates on server activity, questions/answers, assistance, etc will be available and happen far more frequently and quickly than I am able. That's a good thing! He's been an active member of the server and mafiascum for some time now and has become more and more familiar with the various mods and utilities we use to maintain the server and packs. Definitely feel free to ask any questions you might have, or come to the IRC. Hopefully, what this also means, is increased player activity as we will actually
have
a server ready for people to play on.

(As a side note - no need for facebook info any longer, as it was mainly a way for me to keep in touch with people who had questions or whatever, since I'm never able to get on IRC anymore.)

We can do that and it's easy enough to set up. The only problem was no one ever played :P but it only needs a gig or so of memory so I can create the server on our host if arch is ok to do the rest.

I think the draw is that a lot of the people who like modded aren't big builders. Some are, like Klaz, but he also really likes Vanilla. People like me or dav are more about creating more and more complex systems, rather than building. Because let's face it, neither of us can build beautiful things :lol:

it probably has something to do with sp6. I forgot I was messing around with Morpheus for vanilla. I was trying to connect it to IRC and it wasn't working.

We haven't encountered this at all on our 1.10.2 server. It's modded and very much so - especially if this is a problem that occurs for you on both Vanilla and Modded, it's your host/server. Not Minecraft itself.
you haven't encountered it on your modded 1.10.2 server because it's modded. vanilla has a built in "anticheat" function that caused tick rate issues until server crashed whenever someone with client side mods connected. that has now been fixed.

Since I couldn't get morpheus working, if you are on the server,
please pay attention to the chat
- if someone types "zzz" and you're not near a bed, log off real quick.


I got Morpheus (and fast leaf decay) working. No mods needed or anything on your end - it's only to avoid the whole zzzing nonsense. And because waiting for leaves to decay sucks balls.

Gonna work on connecting it to IRC as soon as I can figure it out.

whitelist wasn't on at all at first that's all :P and it didn't recognize a copy of the one we had before so we had to rebuild it by adding people manually

arch - server properties has a spawn protection option - I just set it to 1. however, I'm not sure how that affects the chunk loading mod. on IES I don't remember if that fixed t cuz no one was able to open the chicken stick chest

This is not ok. To protect from further issues, anyone who has newly logged on in the last 48 hours who has not been on previous whitelists has been removed for a probationary period while logs are reviewed.

The rail from spawn to M/Maru/Klaz's place is finished, and is over 1000 blocks long in a straight line ;)

This station is behind Dav's house by spawntown (the pyramid) and a spawn station is in progress.

So, there's a setting on the server properties regarding view distance. It determines how much the server loads on the back end. Add in grinders and breeding farms, and that goes down even further.

To be clear, the option is not directly a setting for mob spawning. It's for chunk preloading.

update - you MUST replace your config file with the one listed, or you will have some issues. nothing major, you can play just fine without it, but it will work better overall with that one.

There was an update to the pack recently so use the FTB launcher and select
version 1.5.1
of the pack.

Lycan - try adding BetterFPS to the mods folder (you can find it at here). That helped a lot for me.

The pack has been updated. We are now using Direwolf20 1.10 pack, version 1.8.1 (for mc 1.10.2). This update can be obtained from either the Curse client or the FTB client. Please post if you run into issues or have questions.

i dunno honestly - i never experienced it that bad and when i was on this afternoon testing everything seemed fine BUT cofh tps showed 50% in OW so.... i wouldn't be surprised if some automation at my place or yes' is the culprit.

i changed the view distance on server settings - that usually seems to fix the spawning issue but probably a combination of both. grinders always drop out spawns

I HAVE DISCOVERED THE CAUSE OF THE LAG

FORESTRY


It's very existence in the pack causes lag spikes and severe lag - no idea why, but tested out in SSP and pre-removal it was horrendous. Took it out and suddenly everything was very smooth and good FPS (for my laptop).

Also I may or may not be working on a new custom pack for SP7/MC 1.11.2 :shifty:

personally, i like it a lot better than agskies. way less grindy, plus lots of new/different mods i've never seen before.

it takes a LONG time to load up (at least for me, i have a shitty laptop), but once loaded it runs beautiful with zero lag or stutter or anything. NOTE THOUGH - two things: tinker's smeltery towers = huge lag, as well as the mystical agriculture crops, so no towers, but the crops are fine as long as you have them a bit on the edge of your base (as opposed to right in the middle :P)

TP blocks are now at spawn, which can be reached with the /spawn command. If you need to add your cords but no admin is on at the time, post your desired coords here in X Y Z format. :]

UPDATE:

1) There is now a wither/chance cube area with a TP block at spawn to get to it.
2) The nether is now a void as intended.

You could have checked too you know. In any case, spawning a wither before you're ready to kill it is irresponsible.

Anyway the wither is no more.

Also, the EIO fused glass isn't wither proof, and there are no doors available that are. The only actual wither proof item in EIO is the reinforced obsidian block which, as you may guess, is not transparent. aside from that, actually additions has reinforced glass that is actually 100% witherproof and the observation cage in there is already made of that. the blocks that came off were enlightened fused glass that i used for light.

If anyone is going to use that room to spawn withers or open cubes, you MUST clean up when you finish, which means killing ANY REMAINING MOBS and removing any added blocks, and picking up all the drops. If this doesn't happen I'm just gonna remove the cubes and dismantle the wither room so you have to create your own and deal with the fallout at your base.

1.12 looks good BUTbotania, baubles, EIO and tinkers are all still currently missing (as of this past weekend) - major "must have" mods, so in the interest of getting a new server going, i'd suggest 1.11.2 tbh

soooooo...

the school semester ends in a few weeks, and i'd like to start working on a new custom pack at that time. the horizons server will be around until i'm done with that at least, which shouldn't take too long but at least a couple weeks, maybe? final exams are the week of the 24th, so figure it could potentially be up and running by early/mid-may. thoughts?

NEW MS CUSTOM SCUMPACK 8

I promised I would start working on this over this weekend :D So here's what I want YOU to do! Post mods you are interested in, along with a link and a short description, here in the thread so I can go through them and check them out. The version you'll want is 1.12.2. Also let me know if it's a release, alpha or beta version, and understand that most likely we will not be including alpha versions of mods.

The plan is to have a beta pack ready for testing by the end of the weekend. Hopefully. :]

Blood Magic (alpha) - magic mod centered around using your blood to power rituals and stuff. Lots of automation, armor/weapons/tools, etc.

On the subject of AE2 vs RS

I'm in agreement with you that AE2 is "interesting". I personally prefer Refined Storage as it is simple, does what I need it to, and doesn't make me rage like AE2 does. They are both fantastic and both have unique features that the other does not. If I had to choose one over the other, for SSP, I'd probably go RS, BUT, I'm fine with leaving out RS simply in favor of a less bloated pack. I do recognize that AE2 provides more utility on the whole than RS does, so that's ok with me.

- looks like a better IC2. I don't care for IC2. Some of the items are fun, but easily replaced by others from better mods, imo, but this is a good addition.

Hunting Dim
- this is a BIG yes from me, simply for the AS utility. We'll have to see how they work together, if they work together. I don't see why they wouldn't.

Simply Void
- Yes, why not. Seems easier to use than going the RFdims route and void worlds are generaly server-safe.

MAYBE's

Dimensional Doors
- I remember this being server-crashing and buggy. Very cool concept; would need massive testing on beta server to be included in final pack though.

Aether
- Always loved the idea, and never got to play with it properly. Would have to see how it fares on server as far as lag/tps.

Betweenlands
- sounds interesting, I like that it's "opt-in" as a dimension you have to visit to participate. Curious about how well the server will handle it though.

NetherEx
- Ok this looks pretty neat. Would like to see how "cluttered" it makes the Nether. Of course BoP nether biomes will be disabled for the most part (I think we onlylike the "bone" one, anyway, right?)

.... I'm personally not interested in having to disable my portal every time. What if I'm coming back from someone else's? NetherTaint isn't appealing to me. If others are super into this, I'll consider it, I suppose, but in terms of space for other mods, this is very, very, very low on the list.

Weather Overhaul - ehhhh.... I'm gonna say no on this one. First, rain and t-storms? We don't need more of those. I toggle them off immediately anyway. Second, server load.
Zombie awareness - maybe. could be interesting. if there's room, we can consider.
Da Vinci - BIG YES.
Embers/Roots - Maybe. I still haven't gotten into either of these, so it's a positive maybe.

Speaking of Dims, Lost Cities is probably not gonna be included, in favor of something like TF instead. TF provides more "purpose" and if we're gonna have people genning chunks in other dims, I'd prefer it to be TF over Lost Cities, which loses it's novelty fairly quickly, in my opinion. If you have a serious disagreement with this idea, let me know what you think and what I'm missing.

Also... the thing I really love about RS that isn't a thing in AE2 is the remote access function. It's expensive enough that it's not "OP" -you have to go to the end and collect ender rods to make it and even then the power requirements are huge, but immensely useful for my lazy ass in the mid to late game.

nvm. Just found what I need to add to AE2 to make this a reality. :mrgreen:

Maybe it's just me, but I can usually rush a digiminer before I have a full set of EIO or TE stuff. Powering it is not that bad even if you have a slow trickle from something like an IE windmill. With the dimensional energy blocks from RF tools (I think), you can "set it and forget it". It's a generous boost into the late game, foregoing much of the mid-game machine and automation stuff, especially when you're talking about using it to find draconic ore in the nether. That's my only concern, because I've personally done that :lol:

I think I agree re: RF Dims. It's kind of like MystCraft when it comes to customizing your own dimensions. Disastrous if done wrong but awesome if done right.

Here's the starting list

Feel free to add to the suggestion tab. That's where I'll be working from this weekend. The basics are there already.

Regarding Forestry.... the Forestry "package" is so friggin bloated man... look at all the mods you have to add just for this one thing:
* Binnie's mods
* Forestry
* Gendustry
* JEI bees
* magic bees

BUT I KNOW YOU GUYS LIKE IT SO I GUESS I'LL PUT IT IN :P But if that's what we're doing, the dimension mods are going to be at a minimum. i.e. no aroma dim or others that will have forestry generation

the main issue i had was the cluttered ore gen. i can definitely customize ore gen to where only certain ores generate at very specific y levels to avoid crowding if NC is a mod you all want to play with it would just take some research

If everyone who's planning to spend a significant amount of time on the server could take a look at the suggestions tab and add their comments to the notes column, that would help me narrow things down. I think it's getting close to a testable list.

This maintenance event replaces the one that was scheduled for May 7, which was postponed.

Start: May 22 00:01 EST
End: May 23 23:59 EST
Type of work: Server machine move
Impact of work: Your server will be unavailable for a few hours or less during the maintenance window.

We'll be moving your server machine to a new suite that can support our expansion. During the move, we'll inform your players by chat (Minecraft only) that we'll shutdown your server for a few hours or less. Your files, IP address, etc. will remain the same after the move.

Please reply to this message if you have any questions or concerns or experience issues after the move. Thank you for understanding!

I added it to the suggestions tab. It's not in the list currently but I'm sure there will be changes over the next couple weeks. To whoever "ele" is in IRC - the not responding happens to me too because I have super slow old laptop. If you let it go long enough eventually it powers through and loads up. However, I allocate up to 4 GB of ram for it which helps as dave said. To do that, right click and edit settings then go to memory or java tab (can't remember what it's exactly called). You'll see a min, max and permgen settings. Change the max to 4096 for 4 GB. Make sure you have at least 1.5 to 2 GB left over for the computer itself to run.

You can check how much total RAM the computer has by right clicking on my computer and choosing properties.

This setting can help with lag spikes, doesn't always though.
I don't have a screenshot for multiMC but it's in advanced java settings.

.2675 is minimum required for one of the mods i forget which. da vinci is supposed to be in there i dunno. i'll check. update today yah

I'm not going to go changing recipes. The mod is balanced already in my opinion. You can find a way to work with it the way it was intended or do something else. There are a lot of options in this pack for you to play with and discover.

Please no more on this subject. It's not changing.
