I own Civ 3 and Civ 5. My computer does not like Civ 5, and I am bad at Civ 3

The online multiplayer is pretty stable - CDB, Quadz and I just managed a three hour stint without many hitches.

I beat CDB earlier.

We were playing a 6 player game on Warlord. I was the Iroquis, and CDB was the Byzantines. He was on a small island by himself - I had a larger continent with Suleiman, Isabella and Montezuma (woo three warmongery neighbours).

Early on, Monty declared war on me, so I fucked him up and killed him completely. I had initially planned to go culture, but getting Monty's capital meant I changed my ways to Science. Meanwhile, CDB found Ethiopia and we continued on for a while.

Suleiman then stole some tech off me, so I declared war and killed him. Isabella then stole some tech so I warned her and she said she wouldn't do it again. Moonwhile CDB was quietly getting 3/5 of the culture things (we were playing on G&K).

Isabella then decided to spy on me AGAIN so I destroyed her. Then CDB was closer to getting culture about the time I got closer to the ISS. I was fine with for a while, until I got my first space station piece and realised CDB needed 2 more bits to get the Utopia project. I declared war and nuked the shit out of him, eventually wiping him and winning via ISS.

tl;dr Science beats Culture, bitch.

I always think about booting up Civ5 then I get scared because it's such a massive game and I don't understand every mechanic at play.

The tutorials are quite good, to be fair.

As for tall/wide - i almost always go tall - I've never successfully gone wide (except for domination victories where I just roflstomp all)

Lost a game as Ethiopia because I was too concerned with China's Science than the Netherlands popularity, and the latter won the world vote

Now midway through a game as Sweden, trying to win via being the most popular. It's going quite well, although Persia are huge and are right on my doorstep.

Won Diplo victory.

Persuaded America to go to war with Persia, they took the capital, so I went and stole their second city to boost my science. Then just kept getting US and Denmark to fight whilst I maintained control of all the city states until I eventually won.

I still play a lot of civ. Slowly making my way through all of the civs so I can get the achievements.

To be fair, the DLC is on sale a lot.

I really hate religion in the game. If you get it, you can rofl stomp, if you don't get it, then it's just an irritant.

If you find games take too long, why not go for the quick option regarding turns for research etc? Although I think it makes tourism even harder.

Just kill the Celts' capital, which would have all their culture buildings in, and you should be fine to win...

I've been playing the NQMod. It's pretty fun.

It's like a community balance patch that has been done to try and fix things - it changes some of the social policy trees to make them stronger, meaning things like Exploration and Piety are viable, or it changes UA/UUs. here

I still have no idea what the best build order is on Civ VI and feel like I'm just floundering. I also am not a massive fan of the religious victory but that's mainly because I always preferred to ignore religion as much as possible (so will turn it off).
