The problem actually isn't the Dragon - with more than 3-4 people (as long as your aim is decent) your damage is good and it can only really target one of you at a time with its attacks.
I've always thought the real problem lies in breaking every single Ender Crystal on top of the Obsidian pillars of the main island, since the Crystals will heal the Dragon faster than you can dish out the damages. The only blocks the Dragon can't break with its rush attack are Bedrock, Obsidian, and End Stone, and it can easily knock you right off whatever you build to get up the pillars if you're not careful. And the Crystals explode when you break them, so that doesn't help.
take stacks of endstoen up with us, make a pillar right beside the crystal pillar, with you standing on it, then your three exposed sides ,pillar up as well? bring TNT with you and a bucket of water, light it, and jump down a waterfall to GTFO?

Old server: If you follow my trail all the way to the end and look down into the canyon there's entrances to overlapping Abandoned Mines and they are LOADED with gold. Pulled out well over a stack and still probably haven't cleared out even half the area yet.
Starting to think someone discovered Pony Island before I did.
When someone dies and they drop items, how long do those items stay there? Because several times I've seen items that look like they were dropped by players and nobody else has been online the whole time.

They stay there forever if the area gets "unloaded" by the server, and only despawn after about 3-5 minutes if the area is close enough to spawn or to a player that it's "loaded". Server spawn loads some chunks (might be a 3x3 area?) and players load a 9-chunk square centered on themselves (81 chunks total).
"Chunks" are sections of the server 16 blocks on each side that stretch on the vertical plane from the Void/Bedrock all the way to the maximum build height at y = 256. You can see them in Vanilla by pressing F3+G, I believe.
Necessary rollback just took place. Anything done in the last 2-3 hours is gone. Both servers suffered from an issue causing chunks to regenerate using the wrong seed - I'm not sure what caused it, but from this point forward if it happens at least they'll be forced into the correct seed (e.g. the ones they were using on our old Cloud server).
Hmm, that's interesting. I think I've seen mysterious changes before, another time another place. If you don't mind PMing over info on how you knew I'd appreciate it
Pretty sure the only thing I did was move some iron from furnace to chest. And go check out someone's mine.
That brings me to a question / comment. When you're mining at y12 and intersect an existing stair, wouldn't it make sense to kinda match things up?

likes long straight tunnels, like 100's of blocks. No objection of course, just found it different. Kudos on blocking off the side caverns though.

Typically, when starting a new server instance through the MC panel that your server hosts use, it defaults the world seed in the new server's config.yml or whatever to the default seed, so even though you FTP'd all the files in from the old server instance, it will sometimes still using the new settings in the default config, meaning the default seed (which i think is left blank).
logs in expecting this rollback to have undone all my work today, and it has. Less 51 diamonds now. on the plus side i know generally where they were at, but it'll still take me an hour to re-dig them up. X.X
its fine, I jsut started a new mine down to y5, then dug branches for 40 blocks in all directions, and ended with a stack of diamonds. less than two hours work in all, and will take me less than an hour to repeat it because I know which directions were dead ends now
all in all I think I walked away from it with having mined like having mined a total of 15 stacks of blocks in all. cobble dirt and resources gained included
