hiplop and sleepy invited me to a game like they've done probably a dozen times before. We're just hanging out in voice chat talking and whatever. It's not until 20 minutes in that I realize they've queued me up for a ranked game and my "lemme try TF for one of the first times" didn't really work so well.

Time for me to clear my queue of nominated players to the club. Please let me know if you are these people or if you know who these people are:

Shaziro
Phantom Karthus
ConebreadIH
Clumsyninja23
Beckyyy
tatetothetot
HolySpiritTurtle

I'll reject these soon if I don't hear from someone.

I believe I only have 4 slots left in the club as well, so if you're inviting your seldom-used alt, I probably won't take it.

I don't think everyone who's a pro or in challenger is smart in a broad way, but almost all have better decisionmaking than the vast majority of players. I don't tune into league players to figure out their thoughts on Proust, but the ability to quickly analyze a situation, decide what to do, and (in the case of pro play) communicate it to your teammates is definitely a kind of intelligence that I don't take lightly.

Much of that comes from time in, but when we're talking about the very, very tail end of the skill curve, we're not talking about just hard work.

Oh wait, I know someone else who has that exact same problem but it's usually phone related...

I did have a horrible allergy attack like an hour before the game! I didn't wanna play but I had nothing else to do.

Realized it was a mistake pre quick in
Do you use nasacort or flonase? It's not a quick-fix thing as it takes a couple of weeks of daily usage to start working really well, but it helped a TON with my fairly bad allergies when I was in Texas and Rome. And both are now over the counter at least in the US. Also you can take Zyrtec with it for really bad days.

Number of dragons aren't that important now. Particularly if they're of the cloud variety or ocean if you aren't playing with/against a poke comp. They did have to fight an elder, but that only lasts 2 minutes and I've played in a lot of mismanaged elder dragon games. Often people want to recall after taking elder and that's a good 20 seconds of effective elder dragon time.

I still can't imagine that ever being worth it unless you're building AP Ez. Ezreal is super mobile and long range, so is one of the adcs that can use zhonya's active least (most of the time it's just likely to let the enemy close the gap on him).

I think they created a vicious circle. By not "capping" the chance of getting your secondary role, they created a system where the least picked role (support) was more likely than your primary role to pop. And because of that, even if you wanted to play no more than HALF your games as support, you're forced to not pick support.

Personally, I'd pick Mid, Support if I knew support didn't have more than a 50/50 shot of being my position. But I know I'm probably getting no more than 20% of games as mid that way.

But because of that, they made it even HARDER to find a support. And unless you're truly churning games, having a slightly longer wait time is basically a non-factor. Who cares if I have to wait 10 minutes? vs. 2 when the games last 30-70 minutes (including draft and load)?

I don't think it's because supports have no effect, even at lower levels. A good support is going to be able to climb. But if you're talking about influence % of each role, Supports are less important. You can look at the challenger ladder to see that. You have to go 31 places down to find your first support.

I don't know how you eliminate the support role. No matter what you do, there's only 3 lanes of gold. Maybe you could make the jungle more fruitful for double jungling?

So I just won a ranked game where my ADC tristana had 3.1k damage to champions, which was 2.6x lower than either of the supports in the game. Curious, I looked at this guys past games. Despite playing nidalee jungle and graves jungle/top for the previous 5 games, he managed to out damage his support only
twice
and even in those he did the lowest amount of damage to champions.

But the thing is... he won every single one. And so far as I can tell he wasn't duoing or anything.

oh hey! It's the major rework they like to do in the summer for some reason. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en ... ame-update

Admittedly, this is at least responsive to problems in the game rather than just sticking a new mordekaiser in for ???? reasons.

To be fair, I don't actually use that teemo build in ranked games. I think of the 7 games, 6 have been some form of AP and 1 was a bruiserish mix with a frozen heart (but not hurricane). Teemo is kind of wonderful because whatever way you build him you can kinda justify.

it's not a thing, I needed attack speed and I needed MR. By the end of it I didn't immediately die to lux or veigar so that was pretty lit.
You're way better off with banshees veil in that situation and something like a rapid fire cannon instead of the next drinker. I think the difference is only 5 MR but with the banshees passive.

I don't think it's usually what you'd choose to do it if you could plan your team comp, but it's probably a reasonable response if you're a late pick.

The difficulty is that assassins like Talon aren't that much about assassinating their lane opponent. They're about roaming and killing other lanes. As a tank, you may have somewhat limited ways to respond effectively to that.

Three options:

1. Follow the roam
2. Roam opposite side
3. Push into turret, frantically ping missing, deny CS, do damage to the turret, hope your other laners don't die.

Zac probably actually can help counterroam given his long distance CC. I don't think his wave clear will be enough to push super effectively.

And here's how close I was to a penta. That damage registering is from the end tick of my ult. The stun is as well. 76 health.... not really upset that graves took the kill or anything, just so close!

I was so excited to play Galio top against: Rumble top, Fiddle Jungle, Zilean Mid, Blitz support. All we needed was the Jinx not to get fed. So you can imagine what happened.... Apparently this guy's smurf: http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=jeem

I just looked at the replay and while it wasn't by any means "scripting" fast it was damn quick even at .25 speed.

Oh I'm sure he did. I was Galio, it doesn't exactly take a genius to know what I want to do. But at high silver/low gold the reaction timing was basically instantaneous.

No, I've watched it repeatedly and his move is still awesome, whether (and he should have been) expecting me or not. At .25 speed it seems like something I might be able to do. At full speed there is literally no chance.

For the record, the clip isn't anything special. I'm dead even if I get my ult off (Blitz has his knockup on) and it's not like I played it well.

The clip has .25 speed first and then full speed next. Take note of the chompers as well.

And as I said, I don't think he was scripting. But at the time, assuming he was just some Silver Jinx, it did make me wonder.

Oh! okay! I didn't realize you were spectating. Yeah, I didn't have much interaction with Jinx until that moment and then she was 6-0 so most of it was just "Fed jinx pushing out super rockets for triple/quadra kills."

We know, Dwlee. PZ is saying that he thought he was scripting until he realized he was a Challenger smurf.

When I talked to him after the game, he said he didn't really get it... he got put into Bronze when he went 9-1 in placements, and as far as I can tell that's probably not a lie.

My personal guess is that he acquired the smurf from someone else (the account was in bronze in S5 and S4) that had a really really low MMR.

http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=5nonymous

He's literally 51-7 this season, and 39-3 as Jinx/Vayne.

The thing I find out of place is that Jeem has 0 games on Jinx. While they do share Vayne, I'd expect to see at least a smattering of Jinx games. But then again, it's not exactly surprising someone would play different champions at the Silver level than they do at the Challenger.

depends on the situation and what you've built. Split pushing is good. Objective control with shrooms is also good. If you've gone the Magic Attack Speed build, you're probably going to be mostly an auxiliary ADC. If you've gone the Mallet build, you probably want to try split pushing and isolating enemies.

but its an online video game where you play with someone for ~40 minutes and then never see them again? how does it ACTUALLY affect you other than being mildly annoyed by some text you're reading
1. That definitely doesn't justify it. At all. Not only is it offensive and wrong to say, it's stupid as hell because no one is forcing you to spend RP on a skin. It's literally cosmetic.

2. It affects my enjoyment of the game. I play to have fun. I have far less fun when people like you are in my game. You deserve to be shut up in the game until you can either (a) figure out why being a jerk should cause you to be punished or (b) accept that even if you don't agree you should still not spew your jerkiness.

All right. Fourth time into the promotion breach. I'm on a 6 game promo losing streak in the first three (obviously I've won a lot between the promos to get back into the promos, but the actual promotion games have been less than great).

I think Teemo is just fine against melee champions. What he struggles with are champions that deal damage and have gap closers and stuns. Renekton, Pantheon (god pantheon sucks), Riven, Irelia, Yasuo (no stun but still) are all pretty tough for Teemo to deal with.

But melee champions like Tryndamere, Akali, Xin Zhao, Garen, Darius, Shen (who has a gap closer and CC but pretty easy to deal with), Nasus are all pretty easy.

Apparently Yasuo is having his tank build nerfed by only applying armor penetration from his ult on critical hits.

Yeah she does. But you can bully her a lot until then as she has basically nothing. And somewhat mitigating is you can require her to dash twice in order to proc her Q (since it requires an AA), at which point you might be able to get out of danger.

I mean, there's a reason why Teemo has a pretty high win rate against Shen. You may be right, but landing that trade is hard against range. Harassing shen with Teemo is easy.

Does thornmail's damage work even on magic damage from basic attacks? For example, TF's enhanced Autos, Teemo's, etc. It sounds like it should from the tooltip, but that seems wrong.

should i have taken an midlane adc like corki with repositioning skills so that i'd be more able to kill tanks and selfpeel from engages?
should i have taken lissandra or sol and used my aoe cc/invulnerability to diminish their engage but giving up the range/dps necessary to actually kill anyone?
would karthus's raw damage and soft-cc from his w/rylais been the best choice?
woe is me woe is me
azir probably would have done a decent job with his own dps, repositioning and peel-ult but i don't want to bother learning him especially in the state he's in now
Morgana Mid is a potential solution to this. She has surprising survivability as the game goes on because she naturally wants to go Rod of Ages, Zhonyas, and Abyssal in some order (the last is optional normally but required against that team comp). She offers just a heck of a lot of utility. Sure, you aren't likely to solo carry the game against that comp depending on how Amumu and Ekko are itemizing, but you can do really well and enable the rest of your team to do a lot. Just remember in lane that you can't use your Q aggressively: it needs to be saved for after she jumps.

Galio mid is also a potential answer against that comp because only Cait would do damage to you.

So Riot couldn't just wait one more patch to release a reworked champion? I'm excited for New Yorick and everything, but why introduce a newish champion that you have zero chances to adjust before the most important tournament? At least this time it's not 2 or 3 potential must ban champions coming down the line.

Soraka has kind of a low win rate in bronze, surprisingly. 48.81% compared to Gold at 52.47% and Diamond's 50.94% (http://www.bestbans.com/tier/bronze)

I think the biggest thing is you need to be better to get out of Bronze. The champion might make a difference on the margins, but find a champion, any champion within reason, play it a ton, get good at it, and you'll be out of bronze faster than if you yo-yo between champions you think are bringing you to the promise land.

oh. i guess i didn't really read all of that. I understand selling boots 2 if you have 6 slots filled, though i don't think it necessarily makes sense to do so anymore, but i don't think it's worth it to do before that point. 1100 gold for 35 attack speed is pretty damn good even without the move speed. That's less than a zeal for over twice the AS. The finished items don't necessarily give more AS anyway: Rapid Firecannon only gives 30.

Neither support was particularly interested in wards, I guess. The Leona didn't even bother buy some pinks.

In fact, in a game that lasted 57 minutes the only person to buy a single pink ward is Soraka.

Board games, particularly new board games, are probably as popular now as they've ever been if not more so. $75 is a high price point, but for the game provided doesn't seem unreasonable.

Games designed on some source material are dicey, but there are great examples out there. For example, Battlestar Gallactica is arguably the best game of its genre I've played.

also, kalista's passive on W can only proc once per 10 seconds so additional attack speed is worthless for that purpose and there's no benefit from having two things that apply max health % damage unless it's the most effective way to attack.

The bad thing is that Kalista does want to build attack speed for her rend and jumpy jumpy and there aren't great alternatives even though BOTRK isn't great against non-tanks. What do you think Kalista's build order should be here, Zito? I think Kalista is stuck in a pretty bad place build-wise right now.

I don't know how powerful he'll be but consider:

1. Daisy doesn't stun immediately like Tibbers, which is a big reason Tibbers is awesome.
2. Daisy doesn't necessarily do more damage: in fact practically speaking it's probably not close, Tibbers does more. Tibbers does initial damage of 150/275/400 + 65% AP. Daisy does none. Tibbers himself does less damage than Daisy, but that's not where a lot of Tibbers power comes from. The knockup of Daisy seems good though.

With something as weird as his abilities are, I'm glad they started him out really underpowered. They'll start buffing him soon enough, but the real danger is that because he's so different his win rate will be even lower than it'll end up normalizing at than ordinarily happens.

I think a weird champ like Ivern that fundamentally changes the jungle state is worth starting very careful on in terms of power.

Daisy needs to have some damage up front. I'm not entirely sure what daisy's purpose in the kit is supposed to be, honestly. Tank turrets? The CC is nice but too unreliable to really be ult worthy.

I played a ranked game with him on my team. At first it was kind of awesome as I got so many buffs. I even got a red buff as morgana mid. But he seemed to be totally ineffective later in the game despite being super fed.

Man. I was just flamed a lot for going Morgana Top in a game we won handily and I didn't feed the enemy Riven. I even switched from Teemo to appease them (even though that's a winning lane for Teemo).

At least we won and I got promoted, but it's like people are totally oblivious to the strengths of solo-lane morgana even though she's quite a bit better than support morgana.

Not really. Just a second of thinking about it should make it reach the level of "pay attention to your own stuff": it's a champion played fine in the mid, it has a ton of team fight helpful CC, has a supportive black shield, and can push waves over and over again. I don't necessarily expect my teammates to know that Morgana is deceptively tanky, but it's not like that should mean flaming.

Except for super assassiny champions, I think most mid laners can go top without causing too much fuss in soloqueue.

Dodging is both ethical and expected. If you're not using it in ranked, you're a fool.

Riot allows for it too. Why else have your first dodge of the day only worth 3 LP? At that level there's little reason not to dodge if you think there's a less than even chance you'll win (depending on what your LP gains/losses are for wins and losses, the exact percent where it's the right call will change).

Right now my wins give me significantly more LP than my losses so the calculation means I dodge a bit less than I did when I was in "elo hell" early Season 5. But dodging, particularly in Bronze, was practically necessary when I was gaining 10 LP for wins and losing 24 LP for losses.

Also I find less need to dodge with new champ select. People are a lot less likely to fight and lock in a troll champ (support teemo, for example).

well, if you systematically use dodging well you'll end up at a higher LP and MMR. So "yes" in the sense that you'll end up where you "belong." But no, that doesn't mean you'll end up the same place as if you didn't dodge.

lets say gaming the system and dodging when u think ur gonna lose with ur team nets you a 5% higher mmr on average

the point i'm trying to make is that for everyone else who don't champ select dodge will be approximately 5% better than you (if they don't also champ dodge) and you will lose 5% more games against people that didn't dodge a game

i mean, if you want to get into gold for rewards or w/e, then power to u cuz thats actually a tangible benefit, but i really think you should focus on your csing, game sense, communication, lane control because that would
actually
make you 5% better
Some people win more games through being better than their opponents with mechanical skill. Some through map awareness. Some through communication. Why can't champion select and dodging be part of that equation too? If I can avoid the worst matchups that's PART of the skill of ranking up. The ONLY thing that matters for ranked in the end is your ability to win games. If I win more games by dodging games I believe I have a 33% or less chance of winning from champ select, I've increased my ability to win regardless of other factors like mechanical skill.

As for csing and what not, I don't see why this is mutually exclusive to that.

Obviously there's a difference between someone having another person to play or use a cheating program. Dodging is built into the system. There's a reason you get -3 LP after your first dodge and -10 LP after your second. It's expected that sometimes you're going to need to dodge.

Look, there's clearly a limit to how much dodging can get you. You're not going to get from Gold to Diamond by dodging. But you CAN avoid a fair number of frustrating, predictable losses that can help both in climbing a bit further and in climbing a bit faster. The way to improve entire tiers is to improve in-game play. No one disputes that. But there's little reason not to avail yourself of dodging when it can give clear benefits.

I'd love to get rid of duos+ but I don't think dodging is against the spirit of the game. Regardless, if it were removed as an incentivized thing, obviously I wouldn't do it anymore.

No. But it's not unconvincing because "everyone does it" is false (although I think that's highly suspect; people say that about NA as well when they're banned). It's unconvincing because it shouldn't be done and it should result in an action regardless of your theory that it's the standard. The standard should be cleaned up.

i think the clip is a good length. People's clips are often way too long. Short and sweet, particularly because it really highlights his good prediction skills and that doesn't take much setup. The music could be pulled back a bit though.

It appears our "Most Improved Player" goes to Dwlee who went from Silver IV last year to Platinum I this year.

Honorable mention goes to Ankamius, who was Silver III last year and is now Platinum IV

From what I understand he doesn't ever actually support the lane. He just marks himself as support, counter jungles and does singed things while leaving his ADC out to dry. The problem isn't that he's singed support. It's that he's not supporting.

what exactly do you hope to play against as an ADC if you think assassins, tanks and fighters are ganging up on you?

ADCs tend to do well at the very top of the ladder. Last I checked they comprise a heavy portion of challengers, which indicates that it's a place where the skill differential matters.

That said, that's them and we're us.

Sure? I don't see that as contradicting my point, which is that ADC is a high skill position so long as you view skill as your ability to make the most positive impact on your team's chances for success AS COMPARED to the replacement level player you're compared to.

You can say that "oh, people at high levels help their ADC more" and I agree. But if challenger games feature this, they do so on BOTH sides of the game. Which still leaves you in a position where the best players will rise.

I frame skill as the ability to consistently win. Essentially skill at time X is equivalent to what your MMR would be if you played like you are at Time X for a large number of games.

Obviously there are some wrinkles such as duo queuing and such (is the ability to win more with someone you have a synergy with equivalent to being more skillful?) but this is the basic premise.

All other types of skills that go into winning more: mechanical ability, knowledge of matchups, map awareness, teamplay, vision control, etc. are part of that "skillfulness"

My goal with ranked is to win, so I'm not banning a 40% win rate champion.

And frankly I don't see why Nidalee is considered unfun to play against.

If you surrendered every single game at 20 minutes, you've spent 42 and a half days playing league of legends. At least.

I queued mid/top. Saw top was first pick and support second. So I assumed I was mid.

And that's how I ended up Jungle Ziggs.

There's still a fair bit of toxicity out there, but I think it's actually noticeably different than it was 2-3 years ago in a good way.

Also a lot of the toxic people right now are doing their placements/early climb in ranked.

Interesting. Could also be something about playing at a Gold level now vs. my previous low silver level vs. your platinum level. Or we could just have different opinions.

But if these aren't enough you can always fall back on the tried-and-true "gg ez".

I hate League's community. I don't care what rewards they offer for ranked play, it's not worth it to deal with a bunch of obnoxious children.
I mean, all those things replacing the toxicity of yesteryear seems like an overall victory.

You don't give up a ton to go AP Sona, assuming you're still taking Windspeaker's. And there's no point of going Sona if you don't take Windspeaker's.

If Autofill is activated, it means more people disagree with rather than agree with this sentiment, or it means that the system isn't necessarily able to fill the requests of all people who think this way. IMHO, you should click Fill or Support for a game or two, after which point you'll be protected against this (like I am the vast majorioty of the time) and THEN you can think this way and get upset if it doesn't happen. "Do the time" like everybody else.
( I love that new emoji )

PEDIT: Note that when I say "do the time" I don't even mean play ADC or Support or whichever-role-is-in-meta-as-least-desirable-for-most-players, I mean play whichever role you're given when you click Fill or Support, and then you'll be in the clear to play how you will.
I don't follow your reasoning.

If auto-fill is on it's because people want certain roles, not that they want to wait less time. If they wanted to wait less time, they'd queue for low-demand positions and wait less time than even auto-fill.

do they just abuse it because it's another lethality item that's now usable by an ADC?

so MF is getting nerfed pretty badly, right?

Q - Double Up
BOUNCE BASE DAMAGE 40/70/100/130/160 ⇒ 20/35/50/65/80 (matching the first hit)
BOUNCE TOTAL AD RATIO 100% ⇒ 85% (matching the first hit)
BOUNCE AP RATIO 50% ⇒ 35% (matching the first hit)
REMOVEDMINI CRIT Bounces no longer deals 50% increased damage when the first hit kills a target
NEWREAL CRIT Bounces can now critically strike, and always critically strike when the first hit kills a target. Damage is affected by crit multipliers (ex. Infinity Edge).

Like... it's obviously an attempt to try to make her go critical strike. But if you're going to build crit, there are other better champions for it.
