Mini 543 - Election Day - Game Over!

A small town cut off from the world. Has the end of the world come? Are you the last bastion of hope? Isn't this very similar to the plot of Jericho?

But your small town has been infiltrated by a sinister shadowy organization and you are not sure who you can trust! These Others have nothing to do with the show Lost, but they are Mafia. Sad, but true.

Some of you have special powers to battle the Mafia. They aren't cool powers like in Heroes, but they are powers nonetheless.

You could turn into a rampaging mob to catch the Mafia. But, you live in America. And that means democracy. Every day, you will vote to lynch one person by putting slips of paper into a box. (It's just a shoebox with a hole cut into the top - you wish you had a better one, but the town has fallen on hard times.) Since the accused has a right to face his or her accusers in America, the votes will not be kept secret.

But someone has to count the votes. And what vote-counter would announce his or her own lynch? So, you must agree to make one person immune from the vote each day. No, this isn't Survivor.

A very serious task for a trouble time. This is no time to be hasty.

General

* If you disagree with something the mod has done, or have a question about the game, feel free to PM.
* Do not quote your role PMs to prove your innocence. Paraphrasing is acceptable, and if you are uncertain as to what is acceptable, PM me to check. Violators will be modkilled.
* Do not discuss this game outside this thread, unless you have a role which allows this, and even then, only at night and only with the designated players.
* If you're dead, you're dead, and since the dead aren't alive, you're dead. Stop posting. I will allow a single "Bah!" post that contains no game content.
* If you have moderating powers in this forum, do not edit or delete the posts of either yourself or another player. If you are caught, you will be modkilled.

Please avoid using too many fancy text tags. If you start using colors or tiny text or using bold for something other than voting or messages to the moderator, then you may be asked to stop.

Inactivity and Prods

* Lurking is not allowed as a strategy in this game, as it is highly likely to slow the game down to a halt. Any player who becomes inactive will be prodded after one week, and will be replaced if there are no posts after two weeks of inactivity.

Unusual Rules

Voting

* The game has a voting phase, which occurs between the day phase and the night phase. The voting phase starts exactly

one month

of real time after the day phase begins. At that point, it is "Election Day" and the thread will be locked.
* The players can prematurely cause the polls to open by calling for a vote. You can call for a vote by saying in thread

Open Polls

in bold. If you change your mind, you can write

Un-Open Polls

in bold. (Yes, I wanted to avoid "Close Polls" on purpose.)
* Once a majority of living players have voted to open the polls, the game will proceed to Election Day. If a majority is never reached, the game automatically goes to Election Day after one month of real time.
* All living players

must vote

by PM to me while the polls are open. Voting for "No Lynch" is allowed.
* All votes are revealed after all players have voted. Any player who has received a majority of the votes will be lynched and the game will proceed to night.
* If no player reaches a majority of votes, then there will be a run-off election between the two highest vote-getters (plus anyone tied with those vote-getters). During the run-off election, you may only vote for those players. Whoever has the most votes after the run-off election will be lynched, even if he or she does not receive a majority. For an explanation of ties, please see the Immunity section.
* Between Election Day and the Run-Off Election, the thread will be open for one week.

NOTE: Even though the thread is locked during Election Day, it is not a night phase. Mafia may not communicate.

Immunity

* One player each day will be immune from votes. That player will also cast a tie-breaking vote (if necessary) during run-off elections.
* To grant immunity to someone, please write in thread in bold Immunity followed by the player's name, e.g.

Un-Immunity

. Please use the Un-Immunity tag before granting someone else immunity. (Pretend you're voting.)
* You may not choose to give immunity to yourself
* The person with the most immunity votes will be granted immunity, even if that player does not have a majority of votes. Ties are broken by longest-held vote.
* Someone must be given immunity. If Election Day comes and no players have immunity, then it will be assigned randomly.

Please ask questions about the rules! Since I can't steal these rules from anywhere, I am not sure if I unintentionally left gaps!

Rules: During Election Day, you must vote to lynch one of your own. You have no other special powers. You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
Flavor: Being a townie sucks! First, the rest of the world gets blown up or something and there’s nothing good on television any more. The static gets so boring after a couple hours. At least there’ll be some cool hangings soon. Well, not really cool. It’s a serious task you have before you. But it’s still kind of cool.

If there is a manual vote to open the polls, the game will go to Election Day. Then, if necessary, to the Run-Off Election. Election Day occurs automatically after a month, though.

You don't vote, otherwise. You can vote to make a point, etc, but I won't track those votes and they have no game effect. You also vote to open the polls.

Morning again. At first you devised your little plan of lynching people because, well, it was better than doing nothing. You didn't have any proof that your town was besieged by Mafia. You thought, perhaps it was just our overactive imaginations? Perhaps we watched too many episodes of the Sopranos?

You figured you would wake up and cooler heads would prevail.

Of course, the coolest head of all is the one completely drained of body heat, being dead and all. It's a gruesome scene, but you've seen much more bloody stuff before. Still, the fact that it was a real death is somewhat bothersome.

Searching the body, you find a gun. You think about keeping it and then realize that guns don't kill people, but people kill people. And it's time to do some killing. Or at least some talking and then some voting that will indirectly lead to killing. That's almost as good.
