Nominate:
Jalyn
Award:
The Clones We Are Looking For (Super-Duper Replacement Person)

Of my 5 completed games, she replaced into two, and played strongly in each, and also started contributing almost immediately upon replacing in. The games are Mafia in Theoville and Friends and Enemies. We did not share alignment in either game.

She has replaced into other games that I am aware of. Because she is a strong player, I asked to join a game that was queuing up, but she declined saying that she pretty much
only
replaces into games.

Even if you don't feel like seconding this nomination, please mention if she has replaced and played well in any of your games. I think this is a difficult award to find the right person for, but it is an important achievement to give recognition for.

QFT
dropping out of a game is what is evil. Not playing scum well, that is a good thing. Unless we are business partners or criminals together.

how about an award called "Who MoS Thinks is the Best Player Award" given to a player based upon MoS's subjective judgment.

MoS kicked our ass. He would even post stuff like "I need to think about this" and 48 hours he would post 100% correct deductions that nailed us. It didn't make a lick of difference that he was the cop when we NK'd him night 1.

I'd see it as similar to the difference between "best actor" and "best supporting actor". it is one thing to replace in and win against large odds, and it is another thing (easier for some, harder for others) to go the distance.

<-- NK'd 7 times in 2007. I wasn't Nk'd when I claimed doc day 1 in Newbie 415.

Plus, I have more tentacles.

I think calling our town in that game "mediocre" is an insult to mediocre towns everywhere.

ABR is right, otherwise I would've self-nominated myself for the game where I was scum with ryan and he go himself modkilled day 1, and I managed to expose two of the three power-roles day 1, and I still managed to survive and win the game.

There was nothing overwhelming against your odds of winning- no self-protecting doc, no nk-immune and investigation immune sk, no zombie MoS ressurected the day after you ran a gambit to prevent him from recieving doctor protection just so you could nk him...

I sucked in that game, you guys played well.. but your play was a class above the average and our play was a class below the average. Not the stuff of the Scummys IMHO.

Adel, not to go on another tangent but the only reason you won was because ryan was modkilled. I had uncovered 2 of the 3 scum day 1, and died before I could lynch you.
So the onlyy reson we won is becaue one of the three of us got modkilled day 1? I just want to make sure I understand you correctly.

So we nk'd you N1? I thought we NK'd theopor-COD. Did we nk you N2? Not if I recall correctly. N3? nope. I think you had plenty of chances of getting me lynched since you were a confirmed mason from D2 onwards... but you got me lynched right away in plenty of other games since then, so I suppose that makes up for it.

I agree with ABR: there is a place for Jesters in select open games.

Just to play devil's advocate, was that good play or a gamble with a very lucky result?

Interesting question.

Obviously, if there was a cop then his claim would have been completely disastrous for the scum in that game.

In theory (at least based on the fact that cops are quite common), it was a "bad move" - but he got lucky and it directly resulted in the scum winning the game.
so his scumbuddy (a mafia don) claimed cop on day one, and later that day Atticus was facing a lynch and claimed cop himself. That strikes me as a player attempting a desperate gambit that somehow managed to pay off against overwhelming odds -- did he somehow deduce on day 1 that there wasn't a real cop who could counter-claim? If not, I'm not sure his claim was a good claim, let alone a
Best Claim
.

nope. He managed to survive and win, I think that is probably reward enough.
