I AM READING AND I HAVE A THOUGHT
The idol clue was about the idol being "ate" . . . why was it not about a dog eating it like it was homework? This is what I thought it was going to be and I thought that was so clever but then some babies just ate themThere will be no kisses tonight

So like
what do we need to change so that winners and good players and final jurors and great mods who run great games don't want to quit
Because if everyone keeps good on their promises, we're losing a lot of talent!!!
It's a hard question because the immediate answer is like "lessen the stakes, put more restrictions in place" but that will dampen games and make them less interestingThere will be no kisses tonight

I think it is a bit tricky though, because some people have always wanted to play that risk-averse game and do it well. To invalidate it cuts into a big portion of people who are playing that way and, I think, playing the game with a proper sense of laxness that allows it to be fun for them. I feel like I can have a lot more fun if I play UTRish, even if that's not going to net me the win, than to risk and to risk poorly and have the whole game come crashing down around you. There will be no kisses tonight

I'm off-base, then.
I just wish I had the solution to this . . . it's devastating to have come back to so much up in flames, especially when we just got a shiny new subforum and mod. There will be no kisses tonight

yeah use your confessional
at the very worst, people can see what you were thinking or what was going on and then if you don't win, people can help you see the holes in your game

idk
like among other things, there was all my drivel about tribal lines and pagongings in Nexus. I'm sure the spectators could've sussed it out through other means, but because I was directly saying "gee I wonder hope if that Blue Team I spent 24 hours in will stick together?", spectators and moderators were immediately like "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING SHUT IT DOWN" and now that I've gon back and read the spec forums, I've learned a little nugget of info.
Of course part of is entertainment. But if you're entertaining it drives people to your confessional to see what sort of malarkey you're pushing out today. There will be no kisses tonight

It gives you something to do while you're waiting for PMs to reply
It just lets you lay out your thoughts. Like I rarely go back to what I was thinking or anything but having to type it all out lets me see the forest and the trees.

good point. Like if you took nexus merge and then didn't have any confessionals, you would have a heck of a time understanding why Valla was voted out.

Like the view could be perfect if everyone did PM logs in confessional. But that's an incredible amount of work.
But giving a better glimpse into the game isn't that much work. Like I said in my confessional, it's really easy to just at the bare minimum lay out who you would vote for, who your alliances are, etc. at the beginning of each round or after ICs and stuff. Stuff like that helps. And it is incredibly hard in moments of flurrious PMing to keep them updated, especially with everything going right up to deadline, but if you can that's great and you can always recount it laterThere will be no kisses tonight
