Not to mention Farside was obviously saying it to try and make someone "scummy" in 'his' eyes. I would say this is a better reason for me to keep my vote on Farside.

Yes, it does make it a scumtell. If the only scumtells were ones that the people who performed them knew, there wouldn't be much point in them.
I would say he was arguing that it was still a scumtell.
