what can i do to be less cautious? it's not like i have any reads that i'm trying to hide, it just seems to me that a lot of you are going to be difficult to read, and the type of discussion going on isn't my cup of tea.

kneejerk towns - max (you look like you're trying to figure me out rather than set me up, which is something that many towns have done in the past), uzi (from what i know he's like creature, reads scummy and doesn't explain much but is easy to sort based on engagement, and he looks engaged here) and hiraki (asking solvy questions, but i'm concerned about this one since there's someone on my home site that plays scum by doing exactly that, which is easy to do if you've played a lot from what i understand)

Temphq's post on 'tvt or svs' is pretty bad too.

Why?

For me both Maxous and AJ reacted both aggressively, it could be TvT or they could also be both scum.

I can't really understand any scum motivation behind this unless temphdq is scum with one of Maxous or AJ.

Quite simply because it's so non-committal. Yeah he's implicitly saying 'its not scumVtown' but what does that solve for this? He doesn't ascertain first off WHY he thinks it could be scum theatre, and town v town is the statistically most likely outcome. Taking over 2/3s of the possible results as 'what's happening here' with no reasoning why is NOT a good look.

1) He jumps on schadd's "justification-less" vote, but ignores the two other ones made previously.

There are two reasons he'd want to jump on this vote and ignore the other votes in the thread made previously.
1) This vote is "worse" than other votes.
2) Shadd is of particular interest to him.
3) He reads Tenshii as town.

#1 isn't true, since all the votes are identical. He's given no indication towards #2. #3 isn't true, since in post #44, he mentions having no particular feelings on Tenshii one way or the other.

There's no explanation to this other than Maxous picked a fight for the hell of it and for arbitrary reasons.

2) His attack on AJ is pretty bad.

It just complains about his play being "ridiculous", and Maxous states he's "not impressed." There's no indication here that Maxous actually thinks AJ is mafia. Rather, Maxous seems to be attacking his play.

Both these things show a mentality of wanting to jump on things for the sake of jumping on them, as opposed to sorting out alignments and trying to find mafia.

Sure but I'm arguing his responses are noncommittal and for something like a statement of 'yeah it's tvt or svs' which is inherently broad and has

completely different meanings

in each case, it DOES warrant justification on why he has such vastly different opinions.

Also Hiraki I can't imagine you making a single weaker vote than that. You:

1) Used another player's reasoning
2) And that player's reasoning isn't even really a good one, seeing as it was after a secondary or tertiary point on temphq
3) List random shit towntells with little information, which contradicts the point you're playing with
4) the line 'mostly for what tenshii said but nothing more' is stupid.

Perhaps, but I've found tells like this fairly reliable over the past 1.5 months I've been playing games more actively on this site. More interested in an explanation for the above though.
