Broncos fan here. I think we're the favorites for Romo at this stage, but I really don't want him. Our O-Line is so porous that he'll last maybe 2 games before getting injured, plus Siemian would probably be traded to make the room. This means we could have Lynch (not ready yet, second playbook in 2 years...) without any real backup - VERY scary proposition. I'll take Siemian as starter again, Lynch as backup, and I think that's good enough this season to make the playoffs even if we don't go far in them.
Defense is way underrated imho, a D-Line run stopper like Calais Campbell would take away the one weakness I think that group has. Sadly Jacksonville might be leading that chase, but he's a CO native and hoping he wants more than just dollars. Expecting a run-stopping ILB through the draft (r3 possibly) to help out there but apart from that it's a fairly complete setup. The draft is stacked with CB, but that's our strongest position and so hoping other teams take them off the board and leave us to pick a bit more than we could normally.
O-Line is scary. Only worthwhile starter from last year was Matt Paradis, who is coming off two hip surgeries. Need FA here as the draft is weak, so two of Whitworth/Reiff/Zeitler quality would be good for me but probably a bit of a stretch. Probably end up with Okung again if he's willing to take less than he was due to, and need to find a RT. The guards I think we have as the coaching is far superior this year to the past few, and our current players have the talent to make it work. Not going to be an amazing O-Line, but it should keep TS on his feet long enough to make us competitive on offense again - not to mention being able to punch holes for us to get a run game going this year. Take the vets to patch things this year (maybe next) and wait until a better draft class to rebuild the O-Line - only thing that makes sense to me, however I would take Ramczyk at 20 if he's healthy. He might take a year to learn, or could plug in at RT if we don't solve that at FA, but I like his footage and think he'd be a good long-term fit.
Scariest thing is how good Oakland/KC became last season. Think we've now got a good fight on our hands, but should have enough to make the playoffs with a bit of luck.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Hahahaha love this! Houston needed to dump that contract so badly - they paid through the nose to get him, and again to drop him!In post 36, xRECKONERx wrote:WEWWWWW BOY.
yall
the brock osweiller saga is fucking amazing
so the texans dumped him to the browns. brown had a fucking wealth of cap room so they took him to buy a draft pick, basically
browns said they were considering just cutting him
now teams are already reaching out to the browns to figure out his availability
also: Latavius Murray to Seattle (rumor), JT to Dolphins, Alshon to the Eagles? Jesus christ i love free agency
Also seems that they now lead the race for Romo. Happy about that too. Calais Campbell chase is still not over by some reports, he's the only FA I really want badly at this stage.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Some interesting moves. Patriots trading back 8 spots to take Ealy could be good, and the whole Bennet/Cook thing is fun - bet Rogers is pleased with that!
On Broncos, we have two OLinemen now which is nice, but still no LT and nearly everyone is off the board... scary times unless we hit with #20 in the draft. :/Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

What's everyone's team - and after FA so far, what position/player are you expecting them to pick up in the draft?
Might as well start. I'm a Broncos fan, and I still think we need a OT, possible TE, and DL/LB help. Not sure where we go at #20 though.
Smith should be decent, but the one I like a lot is Jeffery. Gives the young QB a couple of good targets to aim for at least. In post 51, shaft.ed wrote:Not sure how I feel about Eagles WR pickups

Traded some picks for players, seem to be firmly in that "win-now" mode since the clock is probably ticking on Brady (possibly Belichick too). Do you think Jimmy G get's traded and you try for a QB in this/next draft? Or would you prefer to see Jimmy take over the reins when the time comes? In post 60, Bella wrote:Pats
Heard big things about Melifonwu, seems like he could go earlier than most are expecting. On the line, it's where the Broncos also need to go too and I'm hoping for Ramcyzk @20, then Davenport at the end of round 3. Our list of needs and targets seem fairly similar when it comes to the draft - I think there might be some trades up and down d1 to get these kind of players. In post 61, PJ. wrote:Seattle... we need linemen so BAD. So I'm hoping to see a combination of 2 or 3 of Cam Robinson, Ryan Ramcyzk, Garrett Bolles, Julie'n Davenport, Javarius Leamon, Will Holden, and David Sharpe. Only guys I would want to see in the first round that aren't a tackle is Peppers mentioned above and Obi MelifonwuRide forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Yeah made the division a nightmare last season with KC and yourselves improving quite a bit. Can't wait to see the battle unfold this season! In post 66, horrordude0215 wrote:Raiders finally have an offense to compete with (I actually don't hate the Murray/Washington/Richard committee if we can get Murray to stay), they just need some LB and Corner help *desperately*.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

I wonder how many of those team friendly contracts are because Brady is there, and what may happen once he leaves. It's probably the big story for me, as it can shake up the entire power rankings - especially if Belichick leaves at the same time.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

I could see a 5th/6th involved, and it's great value at that. Seattle really can't do much here except pay Lynch and force him to play for them. He'll end up at Oakland if he really wants to be there. In post 94, Kmd4390 wrote:
Nah. Seattle has no leverage. If they won't release him, Oakland tells them "ok, we'll sign AP". And if Lynch wants it to happen enough, he can go "ok, I'll be at camp. Where's my $9m?". They get a 7th round pick at best and that would just to be to skip the BSIn post 92, horrordude0215 wrote:I've been trying to ignore the Lynch to Oakland rumors that have been popping up. Good move imo, Raiders were just not on the same page as Oakland. Smaller market, but one filled with tourists who love to throw money around and watch a spectacle. Should work out well for them, but maybe hits the NHL franchise moving in there a little harder?Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Young players with big wages and lacking maturity will always find a way to derail their careers. Doesn't matter where it is sadly. Don't think being in Vegas is going to cause that many problems in that regard, especially when they can afford to fly wherever they want at a drop of a hat and do whatever they want anyway. I'd think the team would be employing a bunch of people to make sure the team is behaving, and maybe even working with the casinos etc to keep an eye on things.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Patriots are good boys!In post 132, Bella wrote:After all, if the league can convict Tom Brady of deflating footballs without actual evidence that balls were improperly deflated or evidence of an actual conspiracy to commit the act, they can decide a player probably sold out information based on little more than association.

I'd love Foster to drop to 20 for the Broncos, don't think his outburst is that big a red flag for me. He'd upgrade a major hole in our defense. Other than that Ramczyk or Robinson would be nice, C-Mac as a triple threat, or Njoku/Howard to improve actions. Not sure if any of those actually would be available though, some teams seem high on them.
If those targets are gone, I'd prefer to trade back out of the round and stockpile a couple extra 2nd/3rd rounds to take advantage of the deep draft.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Yeah figured that's where he'd land, though lots of rumours that we'd have taken him to Denver if he fell enough. Glad not to have that much character concern, but sad to miss out on a playmaker.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

Love that pick. Very happy with our QBs so there is no risk and a ton of reward. Great early test for him too, with the week of activities and the spotlight on him.In post 253, Wraith wrote:BTW Chad Kelly as Mr. Irrelevant was the funniest thing ever
Overall solid draft, addressed the needs we had coming off FA, and with some players returning from injury I'm hopeful of a very productive season.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness!- ChrisOrmie

In post 255, Bella wrote:If Jamaal Charles is healthy enough to recover his previous form, he's instantly the best back in the Broncos backfield. Good pick up.
Kelly has the ability (and a cannon-arm), so it depends how mature he is. It makes things interesting now as I think Siemian should be the starter this year, but Lynch is probably the guy long term. Kelly has a shot at being backup, or maybe surprising me and in a year or two becoming the starting QB. I love having 3 talented young QBs fighting it out, especially when two of them were 7th round picks. In post 256, PJ. wrote:I think Chad Kelly can actually be an NFL Quarterback. That's more than I'll say about some of the guys selected before him.
I read some stuff about Charles being a change of pace back for Anderson
Charles offers a lot of experience at worst, but at his best he is our top RB. We have CJ to share the reps, and Booker for another option. Janovich excites me from Fullback, plus we have some developmental backs. Overall it's a real nice addition that we needed.Ride forth you merry gentlemen of yore and tell the lords of Hades that we come for to claim their heads in the names of vengeance and righteousness! - ChrisOrmie
