I think you're Iceland, right?

It's good, if I was into the genre. But I'm not into black metal. It was just too much for me.
is it even black metal tho? black metal rarely sounds this uninspired and is way more intense
this sounds more like...idk...generic progressive metal
I mean this song in particular is a bit more proggy than the rest of the album which is probably why it's my favorite but the album as a whole is just very all over the place

there's a very black metal and dissonant track, a pure dark folk track, and a chill electronic track that evolves into a metal track over time

it's a really good album but it's also pretty long lol

Macedonia – Sounds nice enough I suppose but doesn’t really have any unique qualities and I didn’t find it particularly compelling. Vocal harmonies are okay, I guess? (AVERAGE)

Latvia – Y’know, I’m just too tired for any form of decent commentary tonight. This is fine. Don’t like the synth tone, do like the inclusion of the guitars. Sounds really dated though. It’s okay. (AVERAGE)

Canada – Actually pretty nice musically and the rapping isn’t awful or anything, he sounds alright. Wouldn’t revisit it, don’t mind it either. Would probably score higher as an instrumental. (AVERAGE)

Ecuador – The only thing I’ve heard from these guys before was an acoustic folky track so I did not actually know they were metal but I am not disappointed. This is folky metal & it’s pretty dynamic and interesting about it. Not just hammering home folk stuff nonstop, the metal isn’t anything outstanding but it’s solid. I like this kind of song. Maybe I’ll enter folk metal next contest, dunno. (GOOD)

Hong Kong – I dunno, this cover is really just replacing the synths with chuggy guitars. It would’ve been cooler if they’d gone full-on death metal and made it resemble the original a bit less but still make it recognizable. As it is it’s a funny cover but it’s not one I’d actually want to listen to more than once or twice. (DECENT)

Yemen – Hmm. Right off the bat this is interesting. Twinkly math rock guitars mixed with a very indie folk-y type singer. Definitely not a fusion I’ve heard before. I guess, they hammer in that one guitar lick too much, that’s really about as far as the math rock influence ever gets. This is certainly an interesting track and while I’m not actually a huge fan of the vocal style it’s certainly unique & fits with the folkier side of the song. So. Sure. (GOOD)

Bhutan – Lot of nice & groovy guitar work here, I can dig it. Not a huge fan of the vocal style but it fits in with the rough-edged sound of the song well enough & it’s not unpleasant. Just. Pretty pleasant. (DECENT)

Albania – Not as good as Hymn to the Immortal Wind, man, these guys really changed their sound. In all seriousness uhh. This is fine enough, I don’t mind it but it doesn’t really stand out either. Not a huge fan of the synth and her breathy vocal style is meh as well but it’s solid enough all-around. (AVERAGE)

Hungary – This works a lot better for me than the classical piece in the last contest and it’s mostly just because of the strings. Makes the piece sound nice and lush & the piano work itself is pretty nice too. Wouldn’t, like, seek it out or anything but it’s pleasant. (DECENT)

gonna tell me that i already listened to all the decent stuff now and the rest is crap, i imagine? probably

Gabon – Fine enough. Doesn’t really stand out but it’s pleasant. That’s all. (AVERAGE)

Germany – Decent guitar work but doesn’t really feel like it has much of a sense of progression & isn’t as quirky as I’m used to from these guys. It’s okay but ehh. (AVERAGE)

Fiji – Yeah, it’s fine. What do you want from me. Harmonies are okay? (AVERAGE)

Tunisia – Err. That chorus just sinks this entire song, I don’t like it at all. Lyrically repetitive, melodically awkward. Rest of the song sounds fine enough though, but kinda forgettable. (MEDIOCRE)

Turkmenistan – Yeah, this has just no appeal to me. It’s got a seasick vibe to it and is mostly rapping over a mostly generic beat. Not the worst thing to listen to or anything but far from anything I care about. (BAD)

USA – Audio quality is really good considering this is a live recording. This is some upbeat post-rock apparently, has nice energy and nice atmosphere to it as well. Can’t say it’s particularly unique for the style but it’s enjoyable enough stuff. (DECENT)

Benin – As far as I can tell this is a hip hop cover of some song I’ve never heard of. I have no use for a hip hop cover of anything. (BAD)

Philippines – The “boo doo boop” whatever backing vocals on the chorus, I actively dislike. I have never liked that sound. It’s always dumb and goofy in the worst way. Rest of this is okay but I’m not gonna be able to get past that one thing. (MEDIOCRE)

yup looks like the quality dropped way down

Finland – Very pleasant on the whole, the instrumentation is dense enough to at least be kind of interesting. Unfortunately it doesn’t really have any qualities that make me want to return to it. (AVERAGE)

Tajikistan – The growls are just awful honestly. Can’t stand ‘em. Besides that this is… fine enough power metal type stuff. Doesn’t really stand out that much but it’s alright. I’unno what to say. (DECENT)

Botswana – Ahh yeah I know this one from Rock Band, because of course that’s where I know it from. It was really boring to play but I always kinda dug the song. And yeah, that’s basically how I feel about it still. Solid enough song. Decent atmosphere throughout. (DECENT)

Iceland – I’ve just been obsessed with this album for the past few months and this is probably my favorite track. So many cool moments, I just adore it. Especially that short bass solo about halfway through, one of my favorite things.

Malawi – Meehh. This is that indie folk song I’ve heard several times before and vaguely enjoyed every time but it never stood out enough to warrant relistening or even really caring. I mean, I’ve never heard this specific version of that song before, but I’ve heard the song plenty of times. (AVERAGE)

Wales – I don’t know what to say about this. It exists. I like it slightly more than the previous song. (AVERAGE)

Uruguay – Pretty solid instrumental. Doesn’t really do a ton for me but I enjoy it & the instrumentation is nice throughout. (DECENT)

Republic of Kugelmugel – The vocoder effect I can’t make up my mind whether I like it or not. I think this would probably sound better without it though. Beyond that, uhh. Instrumentation’s a bit minimal at points and kind of okay at other points. Not really bad and stands out more than some of these but not much better. (AVERAGE)

Central African Republic – Instrumentally pretty cool at times but on the whole it’s a bit monotonous of a track and didn’t really hold my interest that well. Still enjoyed it alright enough nonetheless. (DECENT)

welp;
