I wonder how many of those team friendly contracts are because Brady is there, and what may happen once he leaves. It's probably the big story for me, as it can shake up the entire power rankings - especially if Belichick leaves at the same time.

The way things sound coming out of the Patriots right now make me think there's a distinct possibility of Jimmy going into next season as the Pats starter. They've shown they're willing to trade players that are about to be UFAs - look at Collins and Jones, for example - yet they're apparently unwilling to let Jimmy go.

Brady retiring when he's still playing so well seems odd but I just looked and the guy is 39 and has a net worth if 120 million so the idea that he walks away has merit I think.
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
He's also achieved pretty much everything there is to achieve in his career and has a wife who'd quite like him to retire while he's healthy enough to play with his kids and has been pressing him to retire for the last few years. The decision isn't necessarily just about what he wants. A quick Google search claims his net worth is $200m - his wife's is almost double that. He doesn't need to play football for the money, he wants to play football because he loves football.

I know it's weird given the username, but "horrorperson" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I'm okay with Cook - we needed to replace Rivera anyways.
Let's make AP a Raider and I'll be happy. Dude would be great behind our line even with his age.

believe in Walford - he made some good plays (primarily in the Red Zone) last year, but Rivera was the clear #1 and I don't see him stepping up that much.

I don't either, but I think the logic is that it's the only way they can both remain undisputed GOATs forever and ever.
If he succeeds without Tom, then it was the system and not Brady
If he doesn't, then he was riding the GOATs coattails
NYG looks real good at the moment. DAL couldn't beat NYG last year without Romo and now NYG looks better. His mind or body stays with DAL and gets them over NYG
Romo changes team and gets injured again
1 NE
2 PIT
3 OAK
4 TEN
5 KC
6 BAL
1 GB
2 NYG
3 TB
4 SEA
5 DAL
6 ATL
I would hate to see Romo go out like that.

He's 65 next month, so he's at the age at which speculation about retirement ramps up, and Brady retiring would be a natural point for him to consider it. I don't think he will, but it makes sense, at least.

That's fair, but still, 65 isn't wildly old compared to most of his peers. He's not even the oldest coach. Carroll, Arians, Caldwell, and Fox are all around the same age.
Most shocking development in me looking up coach ages - Andy Reid is not a top 5 oldest coach. Also if Jon gruden came back he might not be in the top 15.
I've been trying to ignore the Lynch to Oakland rumors that have been popping up. We'd have to pay a pretty penny to Seattle for the rights, but I would not be opposed to that one at all.

Nah. Seattle has no leverage. If they won't release him, Oakland tells them "ok, we'll sign AP". And if Lynch wants it to happen enough, he can go "ok, I'll be at camp. Where's my $9m?". They get a 7th round pick at best and that would just to be to skip the BS

I could see a 5th/6th involved, and it's great value at that. Seattle really can't do much here except pay Lynch and force him to play for them. He'll end up at Oakland if he really wants to be there.

Why would Oakland even want AP, other than maybe name appeal and ticket sells?

Seattle owes Lynch $9 Million this year. Releasing/trading him would remove that cap hit.
