Congratulations that's literally the whole point of the series


And I don't even watch anime


Except I saw Akira in high school


But I didn't understand it

Well, the whole point of the story is that Light is an egotist who thinks he alone knows who should live and die in order to create a perfect world. He can't help but interject himself into the events because his ego won't allow it.
