it is always, always optimal to dodge. trying to punish people would be enough deterrence, but since your average league player is selfish there won't ever be enough people to make that possible. i would dodge in promotions series as the single case is much better than the worst and likely case of losing the game.- MTD

At later points in the game it is much more likely that you will get other objectives off kills, so the kill gold itself matters at least somewhat less, i'd presume.In post 2779, Psyche wrote:doubt it's much different for later kills

-Specific gameplay synergies with each other
-They can be played separately and have dope kits

I played again today for the first time in a while. We were winning pretty much the whole game but team couldn't figure out how to group and end. Then easy button yi just penta kills us and we lose. I'm torn between playing stupid champs like yi to just win or having fun with champs like galio but losing.Looking for love in Alderaan places.- Papa Zito

*personal opinion*
Having looked over the design of the new champions, it just makes me slightly annoyed at how they decided to do this, having 2 champions linked in game is a good thing, having that link being champion specific is terrible, it would be like if kalista could only link up with one specific champion in league, it's limiting and stupid in how it's gonna work.
Especially since this is never going to make it to professional play or anything like that, because there is no logistical way that both champions should be up for the team picking second if they want to deny it (which their kits seem overloaded together)
as for non-competitive for people who want to play solo as bot or support, this essentially means relying on a random ADC/Support, to pick the other champion, or being at the luck of the dice as to whether you get one or both of the champs even when your duoing in ranked because of the unorganized nature.
While it's a great design, it's a terrible execution in terms of ever getting any useful play time until they become non-meta in anything other then blind pick.

I don't know. There have been stronger interactions in the game than this. Carry the Kog was lulu dependent and yet it saw quite a bit of play.
The interactions that are paired are:
E (Rakan): Battle Dance - Increases the distance at which Rakan can jump to Xayah's side. The distance difference isn't minor but it's also probably not something that either makes or breaks whether the champion(s) are worth playing.
This shows the distance difference:
W (Xayah): Deadly Plumage - If Rakan is nearby he also gains the abilities of Deadly Plumage. I'm not entirely sure how this'll be implemented, but it looks like it'll give Rakan extra damage and extra speed for auto attacks and a bit of extra movement speed. This is arguably the biggest difference and could be pretty powerful in lane. But after laning it'll only be a minor benefit. From the video it doesn't look like Rakan gets the feathers, so no extra damage from Xayah's E.
Recall: Can sync up recall. This is definitely helpful for solo queue, and it could set up some pretty cool stuff in pro play, but is it enough to be bannable? Probably not.
Overall, unless the kits are overtuned without the interactions, I'm not sure I see it causing major bans of one-but-not-the-other. It's possible there might be a situation where it's worth picking X if and only if R is also picked, but that doesn't make it an autoban by itself..- Ser Arthur Dayne

it almost could be a good thing that picking him forces a Xayah ban and vice versa?
it's unfortunate that the two may be balanced with their duo play in particular in mind, but hopefully that balancing will focus on their interactions rather than other parts of their kit - Psyche
