I dunno, it's become increasingly harder for me to give a fuck about relationship games
This is the thing I like most about most bioware games, you can kinda be with whoever you want.
yeah see i was super engaged by dragon age inquisition

then i went back to replay mass effect 1 and was like "wow i just cannot give a fuck about this" because there arent any gay options

I just wanted to say I finally joined 2016 and got Stardew Valley running and it owns my life now. (Also it lets you be super gay. Super duper gaybies.)

I just looked because you mentioned it. Too many MMOs, but idk I just think that genre sucks. I thought Dragon Age: inquisition was low, I'm happy that valkyria chronicles made it, Fire Emblem Awakening felt low, Undertale felt massively high (i.e it was present at all), surprised ff7 was at 52, persona 5 feels low but also high due to how new it is, xenogears feels REALLY LOW(expected top 10); surprised to see vampire: the masquerade at all let alone it being over games like xenogears, persona 3/5, ff7, legend of dragoon, dragon age but it's a decent game in its own right, ff9 at 40 seemed weird, thousand year snore on the list =(, definitely want to play ff12 when it gets remastered si its nice to see it high, surprised no fallout 3 or 4, I should probably finish skyrim...., tactics ogre is another one I want to play; nice to see suikoden 2, ff4, fft, and earthbound in or around the top 20, I should finish kotor (and 2), persona 4 golden is one I want to play but I don't have vita; I remember vagrant story coming out but didn't play it seems like a "hipstery" choice for number 9 especially given that it's keeping Mass Effect 2 out of the top 10 (which is my favorite game of all time I think), never heard of Secret of mana but I think I might get it on my phone, wow at 5 =(, pokemon yellow at 4 =(, never played FF6 probably should, I have played chronological trigger though and it was great but not as great as everyone continues to say it is. Pretty sure Chrono Trigger tops every rpg list and idk man.

While I'm in a similar boat (its up there, anyway) ME2 is definitely not the best RPG. Its a damn baller game but a bit light on RPG shit so I understand it being out of top 10

Thoughts (just as i skim through)
Why the fuck is legend of dragoon on this list? That game isn't good at all
NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2???? A notoriously terrible sequel? Why why why?
Ni No Kuni should be higher. Outstanding game.
Dragon Quest 8 probably underrated here too. Seriously delightful turned based RPG.
FUCK YES at Shining Force 2 being on it
Okay Golden Sun is one of my favourites ever but it should be lower than 59 IMO. Swap Ni No Kuni and this and it makes sense
I'd probably put Mario RPG higher than 56, but eh, its cool.
World Ends With You is way, way, way, way way too low. Like what?
FF7 is a hard one to place. Definitely too low, though. Especially since they seem to be factoring in like "importance to history"? FF7 might be overrated but its still damn fine game. (Also persona 5 ahead of it???) This 52-44ish area all feels way too low. Like why is Demon Souls better than these other ones? Not sure.
FF9!!! Yes. Glad they understand that game rocks. Probably a bit too low honestly
Fallout 2 > Fallout
FF12 is way way too high holy shit
Fallout New Vegas getting respect it deserves, sweet.
YES TACTICS OGRE!!!! One of my all time favourite games.
Earthbound too!
Final Fantast Tactics at 18 too low. Potentially best game ever made imo
Same with Suikoden 2 :(
Okay fuck off Deus Ex doesn't hold up even remotely
Yay secret of Mana!
I would have just put one Pokemon game on honestly? Top 10 is fine but I'd take out Pokemon yellow and put in FFTactics
ChronoTrigger/FF6 are two outstanding games. Totally deserve that spot

Not a bad list

Never got into Tactics, deleted a bunch from your list, just commenting on ones I have played.
FF9, in my opinion was the best FF game, ever. 6 and 4 are also in my all-time favorite, 15 may replace 4 though, it was great, but Shadow and Interceptor... damn

Secret of Mana, was a great game, the nostalgia...

FF7 is always way too high, it wasn't a great game, I think people think it was really great because of the graphics. The story was meh, aside from that chick dying, I don't remember much about it.

FF12 made the list? the fuck, I don't remember anything about that game, aside from the stupid arrows when you engaged monsters.

Ive been playing the witness recently. I'm currently about 8 hours and 278 puzzles deep-- it's a fantastic game and theres still a lot i still have to figure out.
I want to scream about some puzzles i solved already that gave me so much trouble, so super spoilers obv.

Spoiler: Puzzles
most recently, i went through the 4 mazes in the castle grounds, after the floor panels section. The first one with the gates was trivial. The second one with the leaves took me a minute, but the real one that killed me was the third one, with the gravel sounds. I was just running around the maze so i thought it was always crunching!!! But the fourth one, where the maze was different from the panel maze, was also trivial, because that was basically the first thing i tried checking for when i was stuck on the second and third one lol.

Another one that absolutely killed me a while ago was the puzzle in one of the underwater rooms in the pond section (where they first introduce yellow tetrominos i think). And there were 7 shapes and 30 tiles, so it was all but two tiles that you had to leave out. And i had to cut out paper and make a grid with pen, and write down efficient packing alignments for groups of two and three. (That entire pond section took me so much time.)

One that sticks out to me as a pretty cool one was the red/green/blue one in the city where you had to change the lighting to find out the true color of the shapes on the panels. I just sort of sat there for a while having no idea what to do until the lightbulb went on. There are so many other puzzles that gave me that eureka moment but i dont remember any of them right now.

Great game.

My favorite part of The Witness is that it's so good at teaching you how to solve the puzzles, as opposed to teaching you the solutions to the puzzles. It actually means you can go back and still have a challenge with many of the puzzles, because you remember the process, or the "trick", but not necessarily the exact solution.

Yeah, i can sense how some series of puzzles are laid out. One of my favorite things is when solving those puzzles that come one after another, sometimes right after a realization I can see exactly why that puzzle came after the one before it-- for the discovery of the whole thing.

Spoiler: I just beat the witness? I guess?
I guess you only needed a certain amount of yellow glowy box lasers to open the mountain. I still haven't completed the town, the desert, or the orange leaves place. And I know where I have to go for the map things, because I tried one in that place in the windmill and this lady just started talking for like 3 minutes. So still a lot to do. I'm so tired. That ending section was exhausting.

I got stuck at the upper floor for like 3 freaking days-- the panels where the mazes were off from the usual positions. I didn't know you have to click on the lower left corner regardless of where the maze was, and I just kept clicking on the dot and getting frustrated and overthinking. When I finally figured it out I felt so stupid.
