League of Legends: The New Thread

This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games
(board, card, video, we're not picky)
.
Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

i don't really think adcing is harder or easier than any other role when it comes to making your team win, but i can't think of a way to prove (or disprove) it

what would it look like if a role were harder than the others?
if it were really hard to be effective as an adc, maybe on average adc main winrates would vary less from 50% than the winrates of other role mains when they have equivalent levels of experience?

i feel like focusing on the roles of the top challenger players only illuminates their skill ceilings not necessarily how easy it is to be effective with those roles - which sounds a lot like the meaning of skill floor?

if i have this right, skill ceiling is the theoretical point where a player has reached perfection within the constraints of the game world
your method would tell us about the success of play
at
the skill ceiling for each role

but it sounds like we're interested in identifying the skill floor for each role - the minimum amount of skill required to play each role effectively
what does a skill floor look like statistically? is it the skills / level of experience / etc required to not drag down a team by merely existing on it?

but then again, this might not be the real question we care about in the first place

i feel like you're misdefining skill ceiling a little too
the assumption that other roles are played to their maximum potential isn't really part of the concept

yah
one other problem strongly limiting research is that highly skilled players play with totally different people than less skilled players
it might be better to ask questions about role efficacy/easiness for each tier rather than overall

recent claims about the adc role itt:
1. it's more frustrating than other roles
2. it's easier
3. it's high skill position
4. it's a low skill position
5. it's particularly difficult to master
6. it's hard to impact a game as an adc
7. an adc has a greater ability to make the most positive impact on a team's chances for success AS COMPARED to the replacement level player it's compared to

I think these can be divided into a few sorts of questions. One is about how hard it is to reach the skill ceiling for the champion, another is about how hard it is to reach the skill floor for that champion, another is about whether an ADC's skill even matters as much with respect to actually winning.

As for skill floor, maybe one could identify the level of experience where win rate within a role is 50% or greater - i.e., when one's presence in a game with that role and with their amount of experience in said role doesn't actively drag their team down.
Skill ceiling, though? You could pick a peak level of experience that enough people within a tier have achieved in each role, operationally define that as the skill ceiling within said tier, and then measure the average win rate for each role at this ceiling, but it would probably miss what we mean by the idea.

The idea of role impact in a game seems the most concrete and attractive to me. Focusing on particular divisions (eg "Gold"), one can take a random sample of games and collect the experience each player has with their champs or roles, as well as who won or lost. Experience isn't a perfect measure of role mastery, but it's probably our best accessible tracker thereof, besides maybe where someone is in a division. You can ask, "In which role does experience correlate the most with winning for this particular tier?" There are a few ways to do this with the data obtained: you can focus on experience with particular adcs or on experience with the adc role in general or on the
difference
in experience between winning ADCs and the ADCs they defeated.

If an ADC's skill or their decisions matter in the average league game within a tier, then you'll find a significant positive correlation between the [extra] experience an ADC has in that role and how often they win that exceeds the same correlation for other roles in that tier. It could be that other factors would explain the lack of a correlation, but this sort of experiment would at least rule out some positions that explicitly predict no correlation.

Ivern
Triggerseed maxes are still pretty dominant. We’re following up with a more substantial cut to Triggerseed’s power at all ranks, especially as the game goes on.
E - Triggerseed
SHIELD 80/120/160/200/240 ⇒ 70/100/130/160/190
SLOW DURATION 3 seconds ⇒ 2 seconds
the nerf to ivern in 6.24 didn't hurt enough so they came back to finish the deed

have found it really, really easy to climb low elo playing ap (ie no redemption or even athene's) sona

comparing my play to others' at my elo suggests that i'm very risk averse - i tend to die a lot less than the average player of whatever champ i'm playing, but only deal about average damage and whatnot
instead of trying to change that, which could take forever, i've been trying to focus on playing champs that can leverage that habit by building mejais
those champs are mostly ap supports (including ivern!) but i suppose i could do the same in midlane if i had the balls

i actually die really rarely as karthus (about 3 deaths per game instead of the 2 i do with sona) despite outdamaging and outkill-participating the average silver
it'd be interesting to try mejais on him, but on the other hand it could drive me to make excessively death-averse decisions about my passive later on

so so so
i played a howling abyss game and after the victory i didn't immediately click "continue" or whatever it is one clicks
suddenly, i heard the voice of lissandra, telling the story of how the howling abyss came to be
it was pretty long and as a liss main i really enjoyed it
i wonder if i've just always missed it, or if its place there was new

THIS!

The Howling Abyss, a bottomless cavas surrounded by an ancient fortress carved into a glacier.
No one remembers who build this place, no one knows its purpose, no one but me.
Long before ashe and sejuani, before magic shattered the broken peeks.
Before the desert swallowed sohima.
It was the time of the three sisters, we were so young back then Avarosa, Serilda and me Lissandra.
Back then the frozen watchers lived here, we do not know where they came from, but I know they were powerfull.
They gave us gifts, shared their magic, made us immortal.
They named us iceborn.
In return we gave them everything they desired.
This mighty fortress, our empire and loyalty these were a small price to pay.
Everosa did not see it that way, like a spoiled child she cried out freedom.
She demanded choice, she soaked seeds of ombinin, betrail.
This place is were it happend.
On one side the frozen watchers and the other Avarosa and her iceborn horn.
Many Iceborn died that day, but in the end the watchers fell.
Avarosa drove them howling in the abyss.
I never forgave her, I had my revenge, but that is another story

A lot of redditors (Ivern mains!) thought the recent Ivern nerfs would cripple him but he still basically the strongest solo queue jungler.

It really depends on what elo.

In high elo, like anything diamond above, Ivern probably top 3 jungler still, even though I barely seem him anymore.

In anything lower than plat you're better off playing literally any other jungler.
i think you're wrong, but of course low elo statistics are sparse

yah i really like Rakan even without the interactions
it almost could be a good thing that picking him forces a Xayah ban and vice versa?
it's unfortunate that the two may be balanced with their duo play in particular in mind, but hopefully that balancing will focus on their interactions rather than other parts of their kit

This is how Rakan was described to us by the Designer/playtesters during spotlight production.
He's the support for assassin players :)
imo xayah is comparatively boring, doesn't really add too much to the game that wasn't already there

I really enjoy new Heimerdinger.

only updated stats source i've found so far suggests he's gone from terrible to average or from average to pretty good based on the elo:

If you look all the way through 2016, the rate of the increase in size of the playerbase has only kept increasing. It's become something you don't like, but at the same time it seems it's become something more broadly likeable.

okay, tell me if this is a comparatively huge waste of time:
a tool that takes a player's champion pool (list ranging from 1 to many champions), and recommends a new champion for that champion pool based on matchup statistics or other statistics (like teamcomp variation)

like suppose you have a midlane champion pool of two champs
they complement each other in a lot of ways (doing well in lane matchups that the other doesn't)
but there are also a lot of match-ups neither champion in the pool covers really well
the program use this info to recommend champions based on how well they round out your pool

eh? eh?

yah i know the data's already there and i use it all the time, but i feel like there are certain things i'm doing over and over again that coding would make less of a time sink
and besides, i'm doing it in a very haphazard way, not really crunching the numbers so much as eyeballing them

i suppose this'll just be a personal project

i have the data and am just thinking through functions on it atm.

now, thinking it through, if you just have matchup statistics to make your decision off of, there are two clearly different situations where your champion pool matters: when you pick before your opponent in the same role and when you pick after

when before, you usually pick more defensively, preparing for an adversarial pick by your opponent. This means you want to make a pick that isn't easily neutered (for example, aurelion sol, who suffers against assassins like fizz/diana). One who's worst matchups aren't bad.
when after, you can exploit your knowledge of the opponent's pick, and so can pick more aggressively. This means you make the pick that dominates the enemy's pick the most.

And all the while, the thing that gates your capacity to do these things is your champion pool - the set of champions you can and are willing to play at a level at/above your current mmr. Of course a lot more goes into whether a champion pool is good (synergy w teammates' picks, for example), but with just matchup statistics, these concerns seem core.

one straightforward/hyersimple way to profile a champion's safety is to look at their winrate against their worst matchup
if it's really low, that suggests that the pick can be countered really easily by an opponent simply by making that matchup happen - it also suggests that the champion has other weak matchups
if it's really high, that suggests that no matter what champion an opponent picks, the matchup will be pretty even

here are worst matchup winrates for different champs separated by roles: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Outcomes aren't very surprising, but especially for low elo types could inform good decisions. For example, a novice might look at op.gg, see Karthus's high midlane winrate (53.29 right now, lower than only 3 other champs) and conclude he's worth picking whenever possible, failing to acknowledge that the pick can be countered very robustly. Similarly, someone maybe a bit more experienced but still unlearned might look at Aurelion Sol's kit and conclude that he's substantially more readily countered than other midlane picks; in reality, his worst matchup isn't as bad as the average midlaner's worst matchup, probably because his E enables him to roam even when his laning opponent is threatening.

I know that this kind of reasoning isn't foolproof given the data I've used - after all, Sol might be situational for reasons that extend beyond the specific laner he's opposed against. But - well, you get it.

The above can be extended to evaluate champion pools under the response case, too. In general, first for a champion pool we find its matchup winrates if the player always selects the best performing champion in that matchup. For example, if the opponent has chosen Orianna and the player's champion pool includes Ahri and Lissandra, we store the winrate for Ahri vs Orianna since Ahri has a higher winrate against Orianna than Lissandra does.

We thus have a set of winrates reflecting the champion pool's performance when we make picks optimally. To measure how well this champion pool covers its bases - ie how flexible it is, how reliably it exploits knowing the opponent's pick, etc - we can find look at the minimum winrate within this set. If it's low (like 47%), then there are some picks the opponent can make that this champion pool just can't effectively answer. If it's high (like 53%), then the converse is true: no matter what champion the opponent picks, you have a counterpick ready to make the game a more likely victory. This is just the champion pool's worst winrates.

However, on the other hand, preparing for the worst might not be the most effective strategy when building your champion pool. Maybe you're willing to tolerate significant disadvantages in some games in exchange for significant advantages in other games. As a more concrete example, maybe your champion pool struggles when the enemy picks Orianna, but wins so reliably otherwise that sculpting your pool to prepare for Orianna actually reduces your overall performance. I can come up with a 'response score' for your champion pool to measure how well your pool compares to others overall, not just in the worst case. We can take the same pooled set of winrates I described above as part of the computation of the worst case score above, and instead of finding the lowest winrate in the set, take an average of the winrates, weighting this mean by champion popularity (so that your winrate against Ahri, for example, matters more than your winrate against Kayle). With a percentile, we can even locate this score on a distribution of possible response scores for all champion pools of the same size as the one input, appropriately contextualizing it.

With these scoring functions ready, it becomes easy to compute instant answers to questions relevant to champion pool building:
- which champion could i add to improve my champion pool the most?
- of all these champions i like, which few of them would it be best to focus on?
- geez why am i typing all of this what a solipsistic fuck

yeahh
all the code's ready now, except the part where i make it usable by other human beings

i don't think the tools really come with much ideology about the importance of individual or average ability
they're just trying to make the best of the data available
but yeah whatever

Ascending order.
Performance score is normalized for pickrate; deviations from actual winrate result from fact that picking a champion within the pool affects which other champions will be picked.

If anyone has ideas for better or additional measures, I'm game. IMO the most useful part of all this is the last part, where I make recommendations based on worst matchup score. It's the one that really suggests a champion for your pool based on how it rounds the thing out.

I'll put it in concrete terms. Say you're in a game, and your champion pool is Ashe and Jinx. If the other picks Twitch, no matter who you pick, you're going to be in an unfavorable matchup, statistically speaking (i hedge like this bc maybe there's a reliable counterplay to twitch as ashe that the average player just knows nothing about). He'll have the edge on you by at least 3.7%.

Adding MF to your champion pool gives you an out - you can pick her when your opponent picks Twitch, and the matchup will be be pretty much even. Beyond that, though, you'll have her as an option in other matchups that would be tough for both Ashe AND Jinx. For example, they both suffer against Draven nearly as much as they do against Twitch. But MF matches Draven okay in the same way she matches Twitch okay. Ultimately, once you have MF in your champion pool, the worst case scenario is that your opponent picks MF. You won't be able to pick MF in turn, and the best option of Jinx/Ashe only has a matchup winrate of around 48.5% against her.

Get it?

I'll try working on explanations later.

I'll work on better communication for this stuff, make it so you can play with these functions yourselves instead of asking for their output from me, and update stats for the new patch.

doesn't seem that galio's getting hotfixed; they just hotfixed raptors with no mention of him
early stats suggest he's not *so* broken; only has a plat+ winrate of around 51%

it's so annoying how they handled ardent
they nerfed my ivern and so many other supports when they *knew* the core issue was one item
and then they nerfed the item!
dude's sitting on a 45% winrate now
45%!!

Seems that if anyone wants their pages to be a mix of offense and defense like it was before, they have to go the resolve tree first or second, no? Unless I suppose the defensive buffs provided to champions w/ the patch are sufficient (they clearly aren't)!
But on the other hand, it seems few are actually doing that unless they're playing tanks already. Games bound to be more swingy, mistakes less forgiving. In the context of this meta, is it best to play along and *also* invest more in damaging runes/masteries, or is it best to stick with what was advisable before and split rune/mastery investment more or less 60/40 between offense and defense?

EDIT: This seems illuminating. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/e ... ovember-10

meh the stats right now are terrible so take it with a grain of salt

speaking of which, for some reason teemo support is up on both champ.gg and op.gg, higher playrate and higher winrate
i wonder if his w interacts with summon aery to make his trades more favorable or something, or if the squish meta is behind the phenomenon (it seems that a lot the damage supports are significantly up in winrate)

midpatch updates are up
buffs for ivern, nunu, orn (surprising!),
substantial nerf for sona,
bugfixes i dont care about

they're blaming ivern's state on the new runes, but that seems to forget that he was already knocked down close to his current winrate after the ardent nerf

ive been building mobility boots on lissandra and a few other control mages and it's not been a bad experience
thanks to her e and extensive CC (as well as my definitely excessively safe playstyle), i'm able to successfully escape most fights despite the reduced MS that comes with being in combat, leaving me to reap the benefits of the having item, including freed up gold to spend on whatever and 70 greater MS out of combat than most of my enemies

this enables me to outpace my opposing laner for objectives or skirmishes around the map, set up ganks in my own lane (ie by speedily approaching enemy with my ult or even just w/q ready), chase down enemies who've just finished fights i missed, make picks throughout the midgame, and even initiate teamfights
lissandra's kit and her role in fights makes her in-combat movement speed not too important (compared to others who might have the item) after the initial CC. She gets through her whole rotation before an enemy can move, and as the game goes on can further keep enemies around with the slow of her Q. More importantly, she doesn't (or should I say, I don't?) usually have much more to do in a fight than provide that initial lockdown/damage from her initial rotation so others can follow up.

I really like the smooth feeling of moving so quickly with her, so I hope the item works out. We'll see.

they'll presumably give us less time to alter runes in the future, but right now i feel comfortable switching stuff up in champion select as information comes in about matchup and whatnot
biggest use of that though has been deciding whether i'll take stopwatch or not based on early kill pressure

by the way, stopwatch costs like 600 gold
if someone's gonna build zhonyas, isn't it insane not to take it?
(i suppose you can argue a rune that gets you more kills on average or just control over the game/lane might pay off more)

EDIT: it seems that if you get stopwatch through the rune, it actually costs an extra 300g to upgrade it to zhonyas; that changes the math quite a bit, though the item cooldown reduction shouldn't be ignored either

the gameplay rioter on the lol forum found it very swingy; people being either very successful or very bad with it relative to people with other keystones
i really wonder what the very successful people are doing

maybe they're mostly abusing the 25% cooldown advantage?
it isn't nothing, especially for an actual jungler
starting with ignite and progressing to teleport or vice versa seems like a clear use for a toplaner or someone else btw

some champions seem more gated by summoner spells instead of damage than others
immobile mages like annie, for example, often build lucidity boots for the more common flash, and won't need the extra damage if their teammates have it and can follow up..?

Hi everyone, NovaAsterix here to reveal some secret tools we use to measure champion popularity at Riot. Hint: There’s more to it than doing a quick champion.gg search, and it involves a lot of data.
(there's actually only a *little* more to it than doing a quick champion.gg search)

vry happy to have this data though; will help interpret other statistics

Define champion pool and associated role:
Role: SUPPORT
Champion Pool: ['Sona']

Safety Summary.
Winrate of each champion in pool when they're in their worst matchup:
(['Sona'], [0.4797])

Response Summary: How responsive is your champion pool?
If you get the chance, can you counter or match any opposing pick?
THis is your worst possible matchup winrate supposing you always get to counterpick
and always pick the champion in your pool with the best winrate for the matchup:
0.4797

Performance Summary:
What's your average matchup winrate if you always get to pick the champion in your pool with the best matchup against the opposing pick?
0.5354474532341672

Recommendations:
Using either worst_winrate_pool() or performance_score() to score, rank champions by what they'd improve your score to if they were added to your champion pool.

Recommendation by performance score: (['Taric', 'Leona', 'Alistar', 'Sion', 'Blitzcrank', 'Zilean', 'Shen', 'Braum', 'Nautilus', 'Janna', 'Xerath', 'Nami', 'Soraka', 'Rakan', 'Tahm Kench', 'Fiddlesticks', 'Thresh', 'Lulu', 'Lux', "Vel'Koz", 'Zyra', 'Teemo', 'Veigar', 'Bard', 'Karma', 'Ornn', 'Brand', 'Morgana', 'Annie', 'Malphite', 'Trundle', 'Miss Fortune', 'Kennen'], [0.5439945985554274, 0.5405869308070763, 0.5370287448968909, 0.5357277085732232, 0.5354457290903382, 0.5353354810007327, 0.5347027896995709, 0.5345101643462786, 0.5333472783418821, 0.5330254527373599, 0.5322278027844657, 0.5321760075368993, 0.5312447869779127, 0.5306881764890611, 0.5305419030670993, 0.5304457395582539, 0.5302621480163299, 0.5299799434732545, 0.5297365853658537, 0.5297276667015597, 0.529647744164137, 0.5294870407201926, 0.5285495969852402, 0.528476421019575, 0.5281373495237098, 0.5280520569454621, 0.5279992934156809, 0.5274125824348372, 0.5270446456610489, 0.5264386056736103, 0.5261466764367214, 0.5253866638752225, 0.5238869360410342])

Recommendation by worst matchup score: (['Alistar', 'Taric', 'Nautilus', 'Nami', 'Leona', 'Braum', 'Blitzcrank', 'Zilean', 'Xerath', 'Soraka', 'Thresh', 'Lulu', 'Lux', 'Shen', 'Rakan', 'Sion', 'Fiddlesticks', "Vel'Koz", 'Janna', 'Zyra', 'Tahm Kench', 'Veigar', 'Bard', 'Karma', 'Ornn', 'Brand', 'Teemo', 'Morgana', 'Annie', 'Malphite', 'Trundle', 'Miss Fortune', 'Kennen'], [0.4945, 0.4817, 0.4797, 0.4797, 0.4797, 0.4797, 0.4797, 0.4668, 0.4651, 0.4638, 0.4622, 0.4569, 0.4551, 0.4549, 0.454, 0.451, 0.451, 0.4508, 0.4508, 0.4495, 0.4493, 0.4384, 0.4344, 0.4326, 0.4314, 0.4296, 0.4197, 0.4178, 0.4146, 0.4087, 0.4021, 0.3939, 0.3728])
yeah!

so what my code does is measure and then make recommendations for the quality of an input champion pool based on op.gg matchup statistics and two measures of quality

"average matchup winrate" (AKA performance score) - your average matchup winrate if you always get to pick the champion in your pool with the best matchup against the opposing laner/etc
"worst matchup winrate" - your winrate in your worst possible matchup even if you always get to pick the champion in your pool with the best matchup against the opposing laner/etc

In the above quoted example, my support champion pool consists solely of Sona. Sona is really strong right now, so even in her worst matchup, she wins about 48% of the time. In her average matchup, she wins 53.5% of the time.

But (unless I dodge a lot) I can't always pick Sona for my ranked games, right? And there are some matchups that are hard for Sona (like Blitzcrank and Leona) that might be easier for other support champions to handle. Also, sometimes I get bored of Sona but want to keep winning and keep playing support. Maybe for these reasons I decide I want to add a second champ to my support pool! If so, I can use my measures of average matchup winrate and worst matchup winrate to choose.

Alistar and Taric are reliably in the top 3 of support champions who improve my champion pool's average matchup winrate and worst matchup winrate. Why? Because in matchups where Sona suffers, they do pretty well. For example, against Blitzcrank and Leona, Sona wins 48.07% and 47.97% of the time, respectively. Taric, however, wins 55.2% of the time against Blitzcrank and 52.98% of the time against Leona. Since I can pick Taric instead of Sona against these champions, I win a bit more often. Also importantly, these champs do okay against
Sona
, too! Alistar, for example, beats her 49.79% of the time.

On the other hand, if you added a champion like Lux (or god forbid MF or Kennen) to your support champion pool, you'd see less bang for your buck as far these measures go. Lux is worse against champions like Blitzcrank and Leona than Sona is, and only wins 45.51% of the time against Sona, too. Maybe you'll pick her anyway because you like her or because you're already familiar with the caster support style (so it won't take as long to become good w/ her); these are all good reasons to add Lux to your pool that my measures don't take into account! But she probably doesn't round out your champion pool like a Taric or Alistar could.

Of course, in this example, the benefits of adding Taric or Alistar to my champion pool are not very big - on both measures of champion pool quality, adding Taric improves neither by even 1 percentage point. That's because Sona is just *that* good this patch. But Sona won't be so powerful forever (right??) and lots of champion pools aren't so lucky. Very often, decisions about your champion pool
matter
. In the loose non-existential sense.

Deciding a new champion to take seriously can be agonizing; with these tools, it's a little bit easier.

made this combining champion.gg stuff across champions, but it's casually cross confirmed w/ sources from other sites

Image

its look varies depending on whether you focus on higher and lower tier champions (and there are a lot of ways to characterize that but each way mostly correlates w the other) but a lot of patterns are consistent

the weird drop in winrate w/ experience past 100 games (which is also found on similar graphs present on sites like lolking and league of graphs) is hard to account for, maybe a result of the substantially smaller sample size or something;
interestingly, this pattern actually disappears when i focus on the top half (by winrate) of champions in each role - it turns into a flattish line rather than a downward slope (never an incline);
either way, i would focus interpretation on the 1-50 and 51-100 bits

however i make the graph, a slight tiering seems to emerge between roles as far as practice benefits goes
adc being particularly hard seems the most consistent, with jungle/mid being particularly easy coming in second place, leaving top usually in the middle, etc
support dances between being really close to top or really close to adc as you see here

maybe seems to track my intuitions about "if you had to choose between having an experienced jungler, midlaner, support, adc or toplaner on your team - with the rest of your teammates being average to mediocre - which would you prefer?"
second idea is that it maybe tracks role difficulty, but i don't subjectively experience support as one of the more difficult roles or conversely adc as one of the easiest

the difference is like a percentage point so who really cares i didn't plan to type a lot about this i was gonna c/p the thing and go oh well

would guess the games played stat is by champion no matter where the champion is played, while the winrate stat is just for the role in question, but on the other hand if they could find out roles for the latter i can't see why they couldn't do it for the former

ive been really enjoying a certain unsealed spellbook/sorcery page on ivern
along w/ unsealed i take biscuit delivery, future's market, and cosmic insight; and for sorcery it's celerity and waterwalking

the build really suits a strategy of outplaying my opposing jungler on the macro level

first, spellbook
i start with smite/ghost and transition to smite/flash in the midgame
the ghost lets me roam faster and is quite sufficient as an escape/engage tool in combo with my (now buffed!) shield, slow, root and vision denial (i think i've really gotten the hang of abusing ivern's w for this!)
incidentally, it has a much lower cd than flash; since i also have cosmic insight and will buy lucidity boots ASAP (that's a 40% summoner spell cd overall), it's up every 108 seconds instead of every 180 (also, my flash will get reduced from 300 seconds to 180)
it's smite that matters most for being a pain, though! normal recharge time is 90 seconds - my stuff brings it down to 54.
ivern's passive makes it such that if you have smite, you can clear any camp in 2.5 seconds, so his invades are already quite touch and go - this cdr makes that all the more frequent

biscuit delivery allows me to avoid spending money on early pots
these days, i just buy one regular pot, a pink ward and that mana regen jg item (and take either my or the enemy's red during my first clear); thanks to the recent buff to his passive this gets me through my jungle very comfortably and the pink i throw into the enemy jg (currently i put it near the buff of his i steal, but it gets destroyed often so maybe i shouldn't?) helps track their movements and prevent ganks supposing my teammates aren't stupid

future's market gets me my full boots faster; it's simply an early gold advantage that i can then abuse across the map
and cosmic insight especially suits me for the reasons above and also because as a support jungler i buy a lot of items w/ actives
and finally celerity/waterwalking just further serve the "move fast" motif; ghosting with celerity gives you 7.28 to 11.7 AP on top of the other bonuses the rune gives

ive been rushing FQC lately too (after boots) because the ivern mains group says it's good
i'm *supposed* to love it because of the gold generation that the item and its build path provides, but really i love it because it makes engaging/ccing enemies very easy mode and makes my attacks actually hurt

haven't had a hard enough game to decide if this build is trash or not; all the stats on op.gg and elsewhere recommend i go guardian or aery, and start w/ athene's
but i'm low elo, so maybe the rules are different down here (ex maybe counterjungling is easy enough in low elo that this pays off more there, or maybe it's more important for me to be able to kill people, etc)

whatever, whatever

haven't really taken ranked seriously in a while (would've abused the ardent meta more if i were) but - eh
i've just never found a bruiser that i like
maybe i'm just a really beta person, maybe i'm just set in bad habits
but it's tough for me to do anything unless i feel safe doing it, hard to do fights unless i'm sure it's unfair in my favor
and instead of working through that maybe over the long run i just haven't built the skills needed to handle an 'unsafe' melee champ

furthermore few of them really match my style
wukong, camille, kled
one of those might work

i've been working on this
taking a more aggressive stance in lane (and in the jungle)
and have been practicing some kill-to-win type champions, too - though they're all squishy assassin types
my champion pool app says that evelynn complements ivern nicely, for instance
when i manage to snowball with her, it does feel tough to lose

camille is like a bruiser version of lissandra personalitywise
kled's a bruiser yordle
