Hey, but Superfight is fun. Played it last saturday and it's hilarious.

And Coup is always great. Love a game where I get to kill all my friends. Which is probably why they always team up and kill me first.

I blame my current board game group for getting me sucked into strategy games. I was happy enough with simply having fun before.

Top five recommendations: Russian Railroad, Food Chain Magnate, Space Alert, Mombasa, Keyflower

I want to try space alert. Also keyflower. No interest in the other 3. Too hard, too heavy.

Apparently my recs from Quantico have changed to a top 5 of cyclades, Marco polo, viticulture, blood rage and 5 tribes. I think I want all those games.

I can tell you that with the exception of Marco Polo I recommend all of those games? I probably recommend them in the order of

5 Tribes
Cyclades
Blood Rage
Viticulture

Also, if you want to try Space Alert, seriously consider trying Escape! instead first. It's a seriously great game.

It's a great deal of fun once everyone at the table knows what they are doing! As Panzerjager said, it can be a fairly long game. If I remember correctly, my first time took about two hours, but we've been consistently finishing at about an hour now that we don't need to refer to the rules so much. If you're familiar with Fate of the World at all, it's very similar.

Played Power Grid yesterday. Improving your position and winning that game are two completely different skill sets, as I found out when one of the other players started talking at length about his position and was said "and [Vi] *could* win this if they had this and this..." and I was like "whoa, I can win this?" (I clearly have very little experience with winning Power Grid.)

It's a game that's 30 minutes of last turn and 2.5 hours preceding it that consist mostly of spite.
Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.

I really want to play Power Grid again. It was a bucket of fun it's just not a game I can get to the table on my own so I'll never buy it but man, I do wish someone would bring it.
