Matrix6 is fine as-is imo. The BP strategy improves winrates.
If anything nedds improving, it's quality control on ICs.

This setup came about in a discussion on how to improve Matrix 6. One of the problems that RadiantCowbells discovered was that Matrix-6 can be broken by a series of BP/Not-BP claims. From here, Matrix-5 was born.

The point is that the BP sucks as a role if you don't pull the kill before the PR is dead, making it better to get confirmed instantly than get shot at which in best case puts town to evens, which is useless unless you lynch at least one scum. Make the backup always be a tracker, which isn't guaranteed to not be garbage. An extra jailkeeper is an odds at what the BP is meant to be: weak.

Discouraging the early claim strategy is literally the whole point of the excercise. So if you're not discouraging it, then why bother?

I meant Backup6 doesn't (or shouldn't).

In either a or 3, backup is strongly deincentivized to claim early because either way he's a sitting duck, whereas if he lives a while he can become very strong. This is ESPECIALLY true in tracker but is pretty true in rb/jk too.

I think the argument is that it is advantageous for town to remove a tracker target, but I think you're right that the counter argument is that the backup is DEFINITELY not a tracker target, because in >50% of games they will be shot instantly making it futile.
