Yeah. After a while the game turns into how long you can go before making a mistake, where time spent making tetrises is more valuable than time spent generically surviving. It's still slow enough that it's possible to maintain a decent rhythm and avoid mistakes. You seem to be better than me at the whole actually getting tetrises part :pIn post 62, JerryArr wrote:It stops getting faster after awhile, it seems.

So I've heard a couple different objections to scoring in the rules. Some people have said that someone scoring 400,000 isn't ten times harder than score 40,000 but it would net you ten times the points.
On the other hand I want to reward players who have high scores. So I am debating switching the scoring. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? I was thinking of giving first place 200 points, 2nd place 190, 3rd place 180, etc. The only problem with this is that someone who scores much much higher than the rest doesn't benefit from furthering their score.

That's fine for this one but will I have to finagle it for the others? You'd want to change that for the other games based on their own scoring systems probably. And dividing by high scorer would be a good idea, yeah. Alternatively, just awarding points for places is fine too, but don't make it go in intervals of 10~
F1 uses 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1
MK8 uses 15-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
If you want place-based points, some variation on that system (I'd say leave room to award points down to top 20?) would be the best idea.Fickle, cold and harsh or caring and warm

I think points for places is ideal. Anything else runs the risk of someone completely blowing everyone out of the water in a game, which isn't inherently bad, but has the problem that it would cause differences in other places to be of minimal importance.
For instance if scores for some game were 1000, 2000, 3000, and 50000, and you divide by the high-scorer's score, the three smaller scores become effectively the same (i.e., "almost nothing") even though they are significantly different.- mallowgeno
