At least three of these are based on things I remember and think we're worthy events, and a couple are based on more than one example or instance of things/have a deeper meaning to the characters at play.

Make a council of title holders to decide if a title is good after the general public has decided?

Like, 5 Nth in the Fairy thread, then some sort of consensus from a higher council in the 48 hours, then you give the approval?

This would remove some starry eyed results and placate the calls for "only titled members deciding who gets titles" crowd.

An alternative suggestion for handling event-based titles: instead of automatically setting them aside for x days/weeks/months, have some sort of nomination process for putting stuff in limbo, which can be invoked on a case-by-case basis by the title thread community.

2 extra limbo days per anti nom?

Maybe move the subforum into GD instead of Site Ideas. I know that I never scroll down that far, and the only reason I found out this existed in the first place was because I got a nomination and was told about it.

If it were in GD beside GTKAS, The Arcade, and The Speakeasy, it'd be waaay more visible!

Create a referral reward program. Each user gets a special link to the Player Title subforum which they can use to refer their friends to the forum. If someone refers 5 friends, each of whom suggest 3 titles each which get put into use, then that referrer gets a special limited edition "Neighborizer" title. Because they're special.

That may be tough to impliment, but I like this!

I'd rather upgrade user profiles and implement that as a "badge" or "award" or whatever.

i remember when there was talk about removing "best replacement" scummy there was talk about giving it as a badge to players who replaced in. I guess that was dropped tho.

You should just take over FACE Day and make it
, like, TITLE Day!

Some sort of special day to honour Titles and encourage new noms! Maybe make it fast tracked that day so that Titles need 1 less Nth to be passed, and make rulings throughout the day if things get the support!

I know that'd take some work, and there's no reason it has to be FACE Day specifically, but it would be a nice homage to Chev fighting against FACE while also raising the awareness of the Title Nom area! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

You could, ended Massey, make everyone's title FACE, different variations for the different post levels, and make an announcement as to why! Great promo!!

So, this is a spreadsheet of title data along with quick links to search for

I don't like the idea of putting it on the wiki (which is old and lame), and find it too hard anyway. In a spreadsheet, I'll be able to update it more easily using scripts, and I can tie the spreadsheet to a form so that people can submit explanations for titles without knowing or having to mess with wiki markdown. We can link to the spreadsheet/form in the OP and on key MafiaWiki pages and call it a day, unless someone else wants to put in the extra work.

If this sounds like something you'd be enthusiastic about, I can get to work on making all this legit.

What happened to it? Should still be usable, yes?
Should be easily linked, like they do with the Scummies noms, yeah?

The old way was a bit too much "good old boys" club.

I'm on board with players being allowed to ask for a title, I just think there should be standards applied to those requests.

Approving titles simply because they do not break site rules allow for titles such as "I am garbage", and while that title may technically be acceptable according to site rules, it's not exactly healthy. It promotes a negative self-image and an expectation of unworthiness. Not to mention it's just bad for site morale. Regardless of how the member may feel about themselves, they should not have a negative image validated with a title.

I mean, another of the jokes condemned self-deprecation, so this would have been against site rules in no time anyway!

He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

This needs to be the succession story when Psyche hangs his hat!!
