RULES

General
:

1.
Read everything I post, if it appears you have not, I will be PMing you to make sure you do so
. (you better do it!)

2.
If you have
ANY QUESTIONS
for me during the course of the game,
PM them to me
. All questions posed to me in the thread will be ignored
.

if you must ask to be replaced please make the request via PM, NOT in the game thread

please try not to go V/LA, but if you must, please notify me via PM, NOT in the game thread
- if you are unable to post for a period of 5 or more days, I ask that you request a replacement.

3.
DO NOT edit your posts
.

4.
No cryptoclaiming, no hidden or broken text, no spoiler trees >7
.

5.
I am the supreme being (your almighty MOD), all I say goes, and I have the right to amend these rules as I see fit
.
I do not 'have a color', please use whatever colors you like at your pleasure
.

Gamesmanship
:

6.
Have fun! Remember it is your fellow gamers' goals to also have fun
.
Contention is part of the game, but don't let it get out of hand, if you feel someone is goading you, show others how scummy that is and try to get them lynched
.

7.
You must make at least one
quality-content
post
once every 72hours
. If you do not, you will be prodded (there is no prod-dodging.) More than 1 prod and I will issue a warning with your 2nd prod. If I have to prod you a 3rd time I will become angry and I might feed you to the wolves or blow you to bits.
(and it will be messy.)

8.
ANY
referece, allusion, or mentioning at all of ANY other ongoing games is

STRICTLY FORBIDDEN
.
Don't even think about other games when you're thinking about this game, just to be safe
!

-

Game specifics
:

-
NO
functional quoting of your ROLE PM (don't click the "quote" button on your PM.) However, you may effectively quote (or pretend to quote) any part of your ROLE PM (ie: "My pm says 'Your name is Bob. You are a gold miner...' it seriously does say that!" is a fine post to make.) With that said, don't try to "break the game" by turning it into a PM comparison game or I will issue warnings and potential penalties if it persists
.

-
The amount of flavor any players receive in their PMs at any time through the game (or when starting the game) has no bearing on their role or alignment, it is just what I was able to come up with / be inspired to do for the character and some get more than others at times
.

-
To vote for a player use the VOTE: TAG
.
Bolded votes
will NOT be counted
.

-
You may
VOTE: No Lynch.
If no majority of votes are on a player at the time of deadline, No Lynch will be achieved
.

-
You may request a vote-count by entering
"
@VC, please
" (or some variant, bolded and underlined.)
-
I will do my best to comply in a timely manner
.

-
Majority lynch with hammer mechanic is in effect
.

-
Deadlines are undisclosed at the start of Days and are apt to appear at my whim with no less than 3days notice to EoD. D1 will not be more than 12 days, but could be less. Nights will last as long as they need to
.

-
If you die you are no longer allowed to post in the game thread. NO "bah" posts
.

-
Scum do NOT have Daychat
. you are welcome

-
I do not provide fakeclaims

A Journal of a Minor Gold Miner

-
June 4, 1882 - Exter, Minnesota
-
population 58
-

Image

Exter is a small gold-mining town located in a tiny pocket in the mountains near Marroy's Creek (The Story of Marroy will not be told here) in central-ish Minnesota.

Spoiler: (a pocket not unlike one found on the chest of overalls)
Image

Life in Exter is rough (like a river of rust!), and so are those who live here. This will journal the most ruthless and bloodiest conflict ever in the history of Exter. As I tell this part of its history, I also tell part of my own. If you read this, you could be .

While there has always been gold to be found in Marroy's Creek and the hills of Exter and the town has been established for over forty years, until recently no major veins had been discovered. Those carving out a living here do it slowly, in the midst of many dangers, with the dedicated patience of few others ever in history.

Two months ago a new,
very
large vein of gold was discovered by the brothers Henry and David (no, not Thoreau!) Jenkis on their property in the hills. They recently inherited this property from their father, Edward, after he died in a cave-in this past January (his body was never recovered, unfortunately there was no Big John there to help.)

Spoiler: Big John

The Jenkis brothers have been working and mining for gold here their whole lives, along with myself and others like their father and mine. Gold deposits in the creek-bed and in the walls of the hills are found scattered about healthily, and most of us find enough to make ourselves a life and stay motivated to keep digging for more, but no one had ever found anything substantial enough to pay off big or that anyone would take much interest in. Like myself, most plan to go on digging for gold for the rest of our lives. We know no other life and it suits us fine. The Jenkis property is a large piece of land with a cabin that Edward had built on it over thirty years ago.

Image

The brothers have no greed between them and have always been the best of friends, always helping and looking out for one another and other people in the town. This discovery was a joyous thing shared between them. Henry is the older, less-smart brother (in fact, he's as dense as a diamond, some say) and David the younger, more cunning and intelligent of the two (as bright as polished silver, some say.)

The gold vein they discovered is the largest anyone here in Exter has ever been close to (as far as I know, anyway.) Henry told one too many people (or was it two or three too many? no one is sure - they're not much for counting in Exter, anyway, I'm the smartest of the whole bunch!), and last night an attempt was made on their lives and David was killed. Henry, by some stroke of luck, was out taking a pee when someone tossed a bundle of dynamite into their cabin, blowing it, and David inside, to bits. Henry says that he heard the explosion, zipped up mid-stream and ran back and saw a group of indiscernible figures running away in the dark. He immediately made his way to town and told the town magistrate (that's me, I also own a bit of land in the hills, but my home is in a more densely-cloistered section of houses in the area), as there is no structured law-enforcement in this town. I've decided this was no doubt an attempt to kill them both so that some bad people could lay claim to the land.

It is now the next morning and to protect Henry and his interests I have hidden him away until those responsible are rooted out and dealt with. I must make my way now to get on with the day's doings so this issue can be resolved.

-

I have gathered a small yet crucial and influential group of this town's existence here along with several people I am quite sure would want to do right by Henry Jenkis and his now deceased family to discuss among them who is likely responsible and what to do about it. It has quickly become apparent that not all of them get along or have Henry's interests in their hearts and that a portion of them were very likely involved in the murder and murder attempt of the Jenkis brothers. I am certain a plot will continue to try and kill Henry until they are stopped or they find him and kill him.

I will update this journal as things unfold, and it looks like I'll have to start a new page as this one is full. Just perfect!

Well, they've been arguing off and on for pretty much the whole day now, sunset is coming and I'm not sure we're any more close to a resolve than when we started the day. There's a lull in the conversation so I've decided to take the opportunity to jot some things down. A number of them have even taken a break to eat some food. I've had a kettle of pork & beans stewing since lunch, and the lot of them brought a mixture of day-old breads loafs, apples, carrots, and few other odd-ends for snacking to hold them over for the long day (I told them no one was going home until we figured out what to do and to bring what they might need accordingly.) Everyone has been welcome to, and some have, help themselves and eat as it's suited them as the day has gone on.

Things started off a little slow for a while into the late morning. Everyone was pretty stand offish and didn't have much to say, which was not really surprising, as I think most of us were still processing what happened.

Despite some tensions and a few heated moments, everyone is getting along quite well and I'm pleased with that.

There have been a good number of points where I feel like real progress is being made and that everyone is invested, engaged, being peaceful and reasonable, and working together like I've asked them to. Then at other points I feel like resolving this situation is utterly hopeless. There have been a couple times that I thought some were going to resort to violence, but thankfully it seems like it won't actually ever come to that. It is just a bunch of hot words and posturing as far as I see.

Everyone seems to be getting tired and things are calming down and we'll probably decide to resume discussions tomorrow and I'll just keep Henry hidden for another night. Hell, I'll keep him hidden as many nights as it takes, he can wait it out if it comes to that.

I'm going to take this opportunity to take a little break from my current duty of overseeing this meeting and go handle some "duty" of my own. They'll fill me in on any pertinent conversation that happens while I'm gone. I shouldn't be more than 15 minutes.

-

Oh dear! Oh my oh me, oh dear!!! I was so wrong... I can't believe it came to...this...

I shouldn't have left them alone! DAMNIT!

As far as I can tell, while I was out and out of earshot, things got...bad...
so bad
. I was on my way back, feeling relaxed after dropping the load off and having a nice whistle to myself, and I turned the corner to bring my house in to view like I've done hundreds of times before...except this time...

This time everyone I had gathered was outside in a scattered circle. Right away something seemed off - I cut-off my whistling. It seemed like they were all standing around something - they all turned to me as I rounded the corner and my whistling came within their earshots. I couldn't quite tell at first what was going on and I approached them all a bit on-guard. Had someone choked on a stale biscuit?

Then I saw blood and someone stepped aside (I don't even remember who), and I saw what they'd done.

"What have you done!?" I screamed at them as shock hit me. Earl was laying there in a bloody pile. His head severed at the neck and laying not a foot away from his body. Someone had taken a broad axe from my large tool closet and in one swift stroke --- just like a butchered pig.

I can't believe they did this. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

"What have you done?!" I screamed at them again. The length of time between the first time and this second was a blur of surreal terror, but it couldn't have been but a few brief moments. More organized murder, this time right outside my own home, a place which has always been of serenity and comfort for me.

Almost50 stood there with the axe in their hands. "We decided to hold a vote while you were out at the outhouse," they explained. "We figured there was no other way to resolve the issue, and we knew you didn't want to be part of such a thing. We respectfully waited until you were gone so that you had no choice in the matter. I may have dealt the killing stroke, but we all had our hand in agreeing to reach a decision in this way. Say what you will about it, but we stand by it."

I didn't know what to say to them. "I wish you'd all have just told me this is was what you wanted to do, I might have come around to it, or been able to find a better way!"

"There was no 'better way'" someone countered.

"It had to be done" added another.

Things had certainly been heated between them all - at points to where I thought an open melee might just break out between them, but I honestly didn't think it would result in anything more than a bunch of thrown punches and received bruises.

I asked them, "Tell me, what has killing Earl achieved? Are any of you any closer to discovering who is responsible for the plot to take over the Jenkis property? Tell me, at the end of the day, what have you learned from his death?"

Perhaps one day, if you're lucky, you can make it even more of a family business. Everyone loves Adam Adams' Apples. He likes to call them "golden apples." You have a brother named Ansel, and while he also mines for gold, he is also quite a bit of a dreamer, and is saving all his money up to buy a photography camera and then he will take his horse across the land doing his camera thing. You are a true friend to the Jenkis family, of which only Henry remains. You will do all that you can to do right by him and hope to help him keep his property his.

MOD note
:

added a portion to the rules under "game specifics"

-
The amount of flavor any players receive in their PMs at any time through the game (or when starting the game) has no bearing on their role or alignment, it is just what I was able to come up with / be inspired to do for the character and some get more than others at times
.

It is something I had in my ruleset previously and then took it out when I did my mini-normal game and forgot to put it back in. It is true for all drealmer theme games. There are a lot of characters in my theme games and some (again regardless of their role/alignment) are more inspired or fleshed out than others at times, and, again, that is based merely on who their character is within the context of the theme and how much I came up for them.

Simply, some characters may receive 3 sentences of flavor, some may receive 10 pages of flavor, and it doesn't
mean
anything.

I hope to have Day started in the next 12 hours but don't hold me to it!

Like so many days the sun rose and struck the mountain in the distance. The light fog lifted. The day began.

But unlike no other day before the day began with the knowledge that death was almost certain to come to someone before it would be over. There were seemingly have no limits to what those who killed David will do to get their hands on Henry. I checked on him this morning before everyone would wake and gather and he is hanging in there pretty well under the circumstances of losing is brother. He knows he needs to lay low and just wait things out and that I'll be checking on him at least twice a day, so he's holding on to that knowing I'm doing what is best for him and his now-dead brother and all I can hope is that this is all over soon.

Those I had coming to meet slowly started to arrive at my cabin at different times through the morning hours. Most chit-chatted about meaningless things, some reamed quiet, most helped themselves to the fresh batches of biscuits and bacon I had been making all morning, and some put their own bringings of edible goods on the table to share for the day. As more and more gathered everyone prepared themselves to get on with the task at hand.

As people arrived I'd been keeping a tally of who had shown up. By a little before 9 most had arrived and by 9 all but 1 who was supposed to gather had arrived.

"Okay, everyone, time to listen." I said to them all, and they all got quiet relatively fast. "Has anyone seen Amanda Hills?" I asked. There was a murmer among the group, with no affirmations to my question. "She is the only one who hasn't shown up yet, and it is 9 o'clock and we should get started."

"Maybe give it another couple minutes?" Someone said, I don't remember who.

Just then Hugo Hills came bursting in my home. "Oh my god! Oh my god!" He screamed. "She's dead!!!" We all knew who he meant, the timing was impecable to where our focus was at. "Amanda is dead! If this is the group that is tasked with figuring out who is up to all of this, then you all must figure out who did this and resolve it! Take all day, take all week, take all month, take a year, I don't care, just figure it out!" And then he ran back out the door.

And so the day began...

Gold-Giving Gold Miner's Daughter - Amanda Hills
Welcome to

! - please take the time to familiarize yourself with your Role PM and post#1 and post#2.

You are Amanda Hills. You were born a gold miner's daughter to Billy and Betty Hills and you have an older sister name Beverly, and five older brothes - Billy Jr., Hank, Hugo, Hal, and Bobby (everyone calls him "Bumpy" because he was dropped on his head as a baby and is daft.) You can do anything a man can do, and some things you do better. Not being Billy's first-daughter, he begrudges you for not being a son, and has always treated you as a boy. He is a greedy and terrifying man, and he's never treated you kindly. You wish you were a man. You wish you had the balls to stand up to him. You have always been dressed in boy's clothes, as anything your sister outgrows is always sold, what your father does with the money, you are never sure. You aren't bitter though, you just know that this is not the place for you, and wish to save as much money as you can and then travel far far away to a better place which would be anywhere but here. David Jenkis was your best friend, and you care greatly for Henry. You will do all that you can to ensure his safety and the well-being of his property.

True Friend - Edward Nugent-
Welcome to

Tywin Lannister
! - please take the time to familiarize yourself with your Role PM and post#1 and post#2.

Your name is Ed "McNugget" Nugent. You are 25 years old. You have an older brother Ned, and your dad's name is Todd. You all look very much alike, but you are smaller and shorter by a good hand compared to your dad and brother. For as long as you can remember people have called you "McNugget", it used to bother you a lot, but, you've found peace in it and now embrace it and celebrate it. Even as a very young boy you loved sifting through the creekbed (greedbed) for gold, and fittingly find a lot of small nuggets of gold at a decent enough pace. You seem to have a knack for sifting for gold, and you think it could be because of your smaller stature, which gives you smaller and more nimble fingers and more discerning eyes. You're also decently familiar with hill-mining with a pickaxe, but that heavier work is best left for the bigger dudes most of the year and you find more peace in the creekbed. Come the coldest months of winter when the creek is frozen you, naturally, spend your time mining the hills. You are a true friend to the Jenkis family, of which only Henry remains. You will do all that you can to do right by him.

June 6, 1882 - Exter, Minnesota
- population 54

Ohhh, this is not going how I had hoped at all. I thought I picked a good group of people and that we'd have this resolved with just a little bit of effort working together. But no, they're just all bickering and I can't tell who has Henry's interests in their hearts and minds and who doesn't and we are no closer to exposing those involved than when we started. In fact, we've now lost four people who were definitely looking out for Henry, with what seems nothing to show for it.

Yes, four!!! I was informed this morning that Gilbert Sullivan's oldest son discovered him slain outside their home this morning. His wife didn't think much of him not coming home, she just figured he was spending extra time dedicated to helping Henry. She never thought he would be someone killed in all this madness.

Gilbert had always been one of my favorite people in all of the town, and now he's gone. I can't believe it. I'm not sure the void he leaves will ever be filled.

Trader - Gilbert Sullivan-
Welcome to
Gold Miner $

laughter

,
oldwino
! - please take the time to familiarize yourself with your Role PM and post#1 and post#2.

You are Gilbert Sullivan. You are 32 years old. You've been married to Suzy Sullivan (maiden name Smith) for 15 years and you have three boys: Paul (14), Saul (12), and Sam (10.) You run the town trading post. Furs and clothes, pickaxes, shovels, adzes, explosives, lanterns, whatever anyone might need, you keep it in stock in your post, which is located in a centralized area to everyone's homes in the area. You watch people going about their business all day every day, not that there's a lot, but you get more foot traffic going by than most, and you're always at the ready to dispense the goods to whomever may need whatever. Every three months you make a trip to the nearest city, Brainerd, to restock. In running this post you also have regular interaction with everyone in the town and you recognize people readily - by how they walk and move or simple gestures they make. You are good at being inconspicuous and you can position yourself in relation to anyone you want and watch them to see who might visit them.

You think everyone has a right to their own property if they acquired it by ethical means. You've known the Jenkis family most of your life and know they
are
were all good people. Of course, each of them came to you at times in need of things and you had many encounters with each of them. And so you will do whatever you can do ensure the property of Henry Jenkis remains his and he remains alive in security that what is his is his.

-
  • abilities:

    Watch
    - at Night you can select someone to watch and see who, if anyone, visits them.

    Coal and Ash
    - One time at Night, before you attempt to watch a target, you can cover your face, neck, and hands in a coal and ash mixture and have no risk of being seen.

You can vote during the Day.
- You win when all threats to Henry Jenkis have been eliminated.

,
Nero Cain
! - please take the time to familiarize yourself with your Role PM and post#1 and post#2.

You are Floretta Lynn. You were born a gold miner's daughter to Lou Dittle and Dolly-Dee Lynn. How have two younger sisters: Candice and the newlyborn Maude, and three older brothers, Jack, Rick (people call him "Stick"), and Andrew. You have been loved and have much love and care to give. The Jenkis Brothers have always been kind to you and looked out for your well-being and you wish to do the same for Henry now that David is dead. Other than that your story is your own, make it what you will against the will of others who would seek to control you and do anyone in this town harm.

-
  • abilities
    :

    You share a
    room
with your sister Candice and may talk with her there at Night.

    Declare Love
    - One time in the game, during the Day, you may declare your love for another player. This will apply the "loved" modifier to that player, requiring them to receive 1 more vote in order to be lynched. This modifier is not applied during mylo or lylo. During the Day use this abillity by either 1.) PMing me that you wish to use it with the name of your desired target, or, 2.) typing some variant of "

You can vote during the Day.

June 7, 1882

I've got everything set for the day. Some stew going and a couple fresh loaves of bread I made for everyone. I heard an explosion last night that was rather unsettling, I wonder if anyone will know what happened. Lou Diddle Lynn, Lars Henrikson, and William Holden Golding have arrived and mill about while we wait for the rest to show up-

-----

"Quit your scribbling in that diary!" Candice Lynn rips the journal out of the magistrate's hands and throws it out the door.

"Hey!" He protests, and before he realizes it, Bevery Hills, Jeb Webb, and John Jack Palance Jr. all file in to his house, close the door behind them, and draw knives.

Before anyone can process what is happening, Candice and Beverly rush William, Jeb rushes Lou Diddle, and John Jack rush Lars. In an instant all 3 necks are cut as the magistrate stares on helplessly in shock.

Blood spills fast and the dry dirt and dust covered floor quickly pools with blood. The four of them simulatenously approach the magistrate and he is pushed to the bloody floor.

"I- Uh- Wha-" He tries to speak but the shock is too great.

"It's over, old man! Tell us where you've hidden Henry and we'll spare your life!" They all stand over the magistrate, knives in their hands, gold on their minds, and greed in their hearts.

"You'll never get it out of me!" He yells at them. They look at each other and without a word Jeb bends down and grabs the magistrate by the hand, pulls out his thumb, and cuts it off but continues to hold on to the magistrate by the hand, overpowering him with his strength and not letting wriggle free.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" The magistrate screams.

"Tell us!" John Jack demands.

"Never!!" He screams back at them. John Jack gives a nod to Jeb and Jeb slices off another finger. They want just an instant and when the magistrate isn't spilling the information, Jeb cuts off his whole hand. The magistrate passes out from the pain and loss of blood.

He wakes from the pain of one of his toes being cut off. Startling to consciousness he finds himself bound and gagged and feels very weak. Jeb is sitting on the floor next to his foot.

"I've only cut off your 1 little toe, tell us where is now and you'll be able to walk. Refuse once more and you'll never be able to walk again."

"Okay! Okay! You all win! I'll take you to him." With deep regret the magistrate concedes the loss. None of the Jenkis family would ever want this much death of good people over wanting his gold to stay his and the magistrate knows it. If only the other deaths could have been prevented before this conclusion was realized.

The magistrate takes them, limping, through the hills to a secluded cabin no one even knew existed. He opens the door to a hopeful looking Henry. "It's over?" He asks.

"It's over, Henry" the magistrate says, "but not how we would have hoped. Some of your best friends have been killed, and they" he points to the four behind him "are all responsible. I'm sorry."

With that, the four advance on Henry and each pull their knives. They all stab him numerous times. They then turn to the magistrate and murder him the same way.

GREED HAS TRIUMPHED OVER LOVE

You are Lars Henrikson. You are 43 years old and moved to Exter 19 years ago. You schooled and trained as a physician back east but the ease and comfort of life in the city bored you. So, you set out west with your family and found the most rough mining town you could find, and you think you found it here in Exter. You are a man with formidable strength to go along with your formidable mind. Not many people mess with you anymore because of your age and reputation, but when they did or do, the combination of your skills has almost always landed you on top in a fair fight.

You've seen the worst of injuries, as steep-hill mining has some of the most horrible and gruesome injuries you've ever seen. You are much-needed and much valued by everyone here, and you enjoy the majority of the people who live here who are similarly-minded in the ruffian ways of living.

Your wife, Maricia, died five winters ago and you have a son Albert, who is your assistant and apprenctices under you, and a daughter Gertrude, who assists with everything you and Albert do and is crucial to everything operating smoothly. They both have families as well. Albert is married to Steph (formerly Myers) and Gertrude is married to Gerald Burke, a pretty decent fellow and gold miner. You have a whole bunch of grandkids as well.

You are William Holden Golding. You don't know how old you are, but for some reason people ask you pretty often.

You own the property to a spot in the hills that has yielded SO MUCH GOLD, and no one has any idea!!! You keep it entirely hidden, a secret for yourself, and go about your business every day like nothing is new, seeming not to find any more gold than your average fellow gold miner. You stockpile your findings in a super-secret spot in the hills and every couple months you take a mule-drawn wagon to Brainerd and deposit it, invest it, convert it, and spend it (okay you spend most of it, on booze and hookers.) You have no family, and no aspirations for one. You aren't greedy, but you're overwhelmed by the implications of your holdings and the burden of responsibility of it all makes you edgy and not warm company for much of anyone. People just think you're awkward, and sure, you are, but, it's more than that. You're really anxious that people might find out about your holdings, especially now with what is happening with the Jenkis brothers' land, not because of them taking it from you, but for the fear of them killing you for it.

Your holdings are worth more than the entire worth of everyone in Exter combined, by far (though there's no telling how big this vein on the Jenkis property is going to turn out to be.) Part of you is glad someone else has come in to a large vein of gold here, you knew it was just a matter of time (given your find, you figured other large veins had to be around) and you are happy to have it be someone like Henry, and you are sad for the loss of his brother, David. You are certain that people are going to try and take advantage of him, lie to him, cheat him, and try to kill him, and so you can relate, and so you are here to look after his interestse as much as you can.
-
  • abilities:

    Paranoia
    - if anyone comes by your home at Night, you will take no chances with them being up to no good and you will kill them.

You can vote during the Day.

You are Lou Diddle Lynn. People call you LD. You aren't really sure how old you are. You are married to Dolly-Dee. You have three daughters, Floretta, Candice, and the newlyborn Maude. You also have three boys: Jack, Rick (people call him "Stick"), and Andrew. You are a gold miner father and have been for over half of your life. You've never struck a big vein, but you do alright for yourself and your family. Better than some, not as well as some others, anyway. You wish to accumulate enough earnings so that you can afford to send your daughters out of this place to live better lives away from all the greed and filth that is found here in Exter. You are highly protective of both of your daughters and don't think anyone in the entire town is worthy of them, not even yourself. You were good friends with Edward Jenkis and fond of both Henry and David. You were crushed when Edward died (no, wait, HE was crushed!) You will do what you can to look out for Henry's well-being and oppose those would do him harm and try to take over what is rightfully his.

  • abilities:

    Paranoid

The Jenkis Brothers have always been kind to you and looked out for your well-being and you wish to do the same for Henry now that David is dead.

Your name is Earl Adams. You are 28 years old and you mine for gold. You and your family have lived in Exter all of your lives. Your father's name is Adam. He spends every extra cent he can dig up on apples and makes all sorts of apple products for the town and sells them at a modest markup, and you help him with that by giving him a portion of the gold you find.

You are Candice Lynn. You were born a gold miner's daughter to Lou Dittle and Dolly-Dee Lynn. You have an older sister named Floretta and a newlyborn younger sister named Maude. You also have three older brothers: Jack, Rick (people call him "Stick"), and Andrew. A lot of people call you "Candy", but you hate being called that. However, you pretend to like it just like you pretend to be sweet. You have everyone fooled that you are good and loving person. You don't know why the hate envelops you as it does, but you think it is out of fear of men and what they have done to you in your life, which you will not talk about. You have fallen in with the bad crowd, driven by greed and a lust for gold and things that can be gotten with it that has grown larger as you have grown older. It's not that you particularly hate anyone, you just don't care about them, and it has allowed your selfish desires to control you more than anything else. Gold is just SO pretty, and worth SO much, you don't think you could ever have enough. At least not until now. You know how big the vein the Jenkis brothers struck really is. Henry showed it to you. He confides in you and you have always been able to control him to do whatever you want, so you convinced him to show it to you, and, it is enormous, you will do whatever it takes to have a portion of it be yours, him giving you small pieces as placating gifts will no longer do for you, you want MORE. Those you are conspiring with you do so out of shared interest of the profits to be had once the Jenkis estate is acquired by one of your party, that is your bond and you are loyal to each other for that mutual interest and a shared greed.

You like to call her Mandy, and she HATES it, which you love to bother her with. You wish she were dead and are jealous of her looks and that daddy takes her to work with him while you have to stay home and learn cooking and sewing. You are smart and cunning and have organized with others who share your level of greed and disregard for valuing anything other than gold and the things it can get you with some others. You are Jeb Webb. You are 42 years old. You're a gold miner and father. Your wife Edna is long dead and gone twenty years this just-passed May, and you don't talk about that to anyone. Her loss has filled you with sorrow and has grown to hate, and all you have is greed in your heart and disdain for the world and everything and everyone in it. You aren't a successful gold miner at all. Pretty much everyone has more luck than you do, you just have a bum piece of land you think, or you look in all the wrong places, you don't even know, which just fills you with more doubt and the darkness grows within you from all angles. All you care about is getting your hands on the gold. You are driven by greed and a desire for things to try and fill the void that can never be filled for you. You are working with a few others for an equal portion of the findings on the Jenkis estate if you can eliminate Henry and all that stand in your way in getting him to you.

You were born to your gold miner father John Jack Palance Sr., and your mother Jackie (maiden name Brown.) You have a two younger brothers, Jim, who is 32, and Jay, who is 25. All you've done your whole life is mine and sift for gold in Malloy's Creek and the hills of Exter. You aren't exceptionally malicious towards anyone, but you don't particuarly care for anyone here either and have always wanted to just strike it rich so you could sell a good find and move east to the New York City. The very few girls and women that live here have never shown an interest to you, they are too simple for you, and you don't really have an interest in them, either. While the Jenkis brothers and their father were always nice to you, you always felt that they were better than you and you begrudged them for that and never formed a bond with them. With a mutual interest in greed you've formed a cooperation with others for an equal portion in the Jenkis estate if you can eliminate him and all that stand in your way to getting at him. Spoiler: Desperado - D1 LYNCH - Earl Adams, A True Friend Gone Too Soon
The Beheading of Earl Adams-
You are dead. The worst day of your life, by far. How did it come to this? You reflect.

The day started with you getting woken by someone hollering your name...

"Earl?!" by the tone of their voice they had said your name at least a few times prior to the one that finally stirred you from your sleeping state. "Earl Adams!!? WAKE UP, MAN!!!" They shouted again. Who was it? You couldn't quite tell, but you were at least 3/4 conscious now. You sat up. You heard your door open and shut. You couldn't tell if they had a threating or agitated sound in their voice. You were then fully awake. You opened your eyes, you grabbed a thick stick from beside your bed that you keep in the case of threats, and got out of bed.

"Oh, it's you. What do you want?" You said.

"There's been a murder..."

You showed up to his house and were one of the last to arrive of the group that was gathered. You'd never been one for promptenss, really - it didn't bother you. You hadn't brought much food: 1 biscuit, 1 apple, you hoped there'd be other food provided for you or that there'd be a long enough break you could get something. Luckily the magistrate had made a giant pot full of pork and beans. Mmmmm, your favorite! You had a few servings throughout the day. You also got a piece of bread from what others had brought, and ate your biscuit and apple through the course of the day. You were looking forward to getting home after not too long at all, you admit.

You wanted to help find the people responsible, but, there wasn't much you felt you could contribute. You didn't know anything about what happened. You didn't know who was telling the truth or lying. Sure, you had some ideas, just based on how some of them were behaving, but there was nothing you could prove, and no one listened to you much. Your influence among everyone else was less than average, no doubt. And the day just went on and on. What a long day, the longest ever! And you've spent some long days, looking for gold. You never did make a great find, you always wanted to make a great find. Ah well. Before you knew it they were ganging up on you and there was nothing you could really do.

"It's for the good of the investigations into who's behind this." Someone from the group said. They pulled you forth and interrogated you. Bah! No good bastards. "What do you have to say? Anything useful?"

You really didn't. Just like all of the rest of the day, you didn't know anything or really have much to say, they seemed resolved to killing you and you felt hopeless. "I'm really not involved, but do what you will, I suppose. Please, make it quick and painless, if you will. No hanging, my face is too beautiful to end in such a strained state. I want my head left in tact." They took you outside. Someone went to the tool shed and grabbed an axe. Someone else asked you to get on your knees. You did. You were going to take your death with dignity.

"Give me that axe." You heard the doctor, Lars Henrikson, say from outside the circle. "I want this to be done right." He cut the circle, took the axe, and approached you.

You bowed your head.

And now there's been another murder, even if decided by a group. They're all murderers. Screw 'em.

This has by far been the worst day of your life. You like some good fighting, whether it a one-on-one fight or an all-out group brawl, but what happened today was something different entirely. You didn't like it at all. There is definitely something sinister going on and it worries you. Things are hard enough as they are, the last thing you want is a bunch of stress and grief on your mind from a bunch of arguing leading to group-consented MURDER. But, then, who does want that? You suppose there are those who do, but it's not everyone, and it's certainly not you. You guess you'll just have to bear it and make do as you can and get onward with life as you can. Keep on mining and working for a change. Yeah, you can do it!

So, you were resolved in thinking that Earl Adams had something to do with what is going on. You added your voice to agreeing to have him be killed and forced him to reveal what he knows about the plot to take over the Jenkis property, and it was nothing.

"It's for the good of the investigations into who's behind this." Someone from the group said to him nearing the final moments of Earl's life. They pulled him forth and interrogated him to truly find out if he was involved. "What do you have to say? Anything useful?"

He really didn't. Just like all of the rest of the day, he really didn't know anything or really have much to say, yet you were resolved to killing him to make sure, it had to be done, you suppose. "I'm really not involved, but do what you will, I suppose. Please, make it quick and painless, if you will. No hanging, my face is too beautiful to end in such a strained state. I want my head left in tact." He said. They took him outside. Someone went to the tool shed and grabbed an axe. Someone else asked him to get on his knees. He did. It seemed he was going going to take his death with dignity. You admired that. You can only hope to do as well if ever you should knowingly face your death.

"Give me that axe." You heard Doc Henrikson say from outside the circle. He cut the circle, took the axe, and approached Earl. You watched on intently.

Earl bowed his head. In one swift stroke his head was off in a flip. There was a quick flash of pink and then an immediate swelling of blood, some spurting, and a thump - you swear the head and torso hit the ground in the same beat. Fascinating! If only the death had fruited anything useful. You get a small lump in your throat. You don't feel so good. If this is a sign of things to come you realize anyone could be dead at a moment's notice, just like David, just like Earl. Hell, it could be your death coming before you even realize it! You leave the magistrate's property with haste and head home, trying to shake the disturbing thoughts.

The walk is good for you, it helps you clear your head a bit, and once you reach your home and family, you feel a bit more normal. The surreal-ness of the day looms in the background, but, at least you're back to where things are normal. You eat a good late dinner. The pork and beans were alright, but you were hungry for a good goat-steak and potatoes, so you had that before heading to bed. You wonder if Beverly will have much to say tonight, as she was there today as well and heard and saw everything you did, it might be good to talk about it some, see if you can figure out anything together, or even if she might be involved (you realize that you never know until you know, and you wouldn't put it past her, certainly, you're not that naive!) She says somethings, you're not sure how helpful it is. Before long you fall asleep.

After an uncertain amount of time you're awoken to the sound of a tapping on your bedroom window. In a daze you go over to it and see that it is Jeb Webb. You don't know him too well, and the sight of him puts you off and you get a chill down your neck and spine and a queasy feeling in your stomach. "Oh dear, what is he doing here?" "Beverly, wake up! Someone is here." You can see her in her bed, but she seems to be sleeping deeply.

"It's okay! I didn't mean to scare you. I'm not here to harm you, don't worry! I just have some news about Henry and I didn't want to wake your dad. Open the window so you can hear me better, will you?" You feel a little more at ease. He seems genuine in his words, the startle of the initial threat recedes a bit. You take a step towards the window. "Beverly, wake up!" You repeat. She stays asleep. You open the window.

"What is it?" You ask.

"Henry has been found dead, it's over, but the magistrate wants everyone to gather to tell us all something about what happened."

"Oh...wow!" You are shocked but at the same time relieved to hear that everything is resolved and finished. You're anxious to find out what happened. You put on some shoes and slip out the window. Wait, why didn't he make you get Beverly up to come with you? Doubt fills you and you find yourself standing uncomfortably close to Jeb. Doubt turns to fear. Your stomach sinks. This guy never really did give you good feelings either, this was foolish. Why did you come out of your house during all this, like this, to him? So foolish. Jeb takes one step towards you, you see a flash of light, look down, see a blade - and then darkness.

You are dead.

Whowaaaa!!! That was some crazy brutal shit. Possibly the worst you've ever seen, and you're no stranger to having seen some rough stuff through your life. People crushed in the worst ways, falls from high heights, tree-impalings, acts of violence carried out in horrible ways of all varities. The birth of your children. Nono, that was beautiful, you jest. You use the humor to try and alieve the impact less of the fact that Earl is dead. You resolved yourself to the need of needing to kill someone readily enough, but that he was a simple innocent is going to be hard to get over. Bah. Well, you will try to do better tomorrow when you gather to meet at the magistrate's, should you live through the night.

You ate well throughout the day as well as snatched and stored a variety of items for eating later at night should you need them, and you figure you might, as you are going to spend the night guarding Almost50 in case anyone comes to try and kill them. You position yourself in regards to them after departing from the gathered group and keep guard against anyone who might try to attack Almost50 throughout the night.

Alas, no such attack comes. In the wee hours of the morning, after you are certain no one is going to try and kill Almost50, you go home. You are quickly to sleep and fall asleep hard and rest well for a bit of time until you are up in the morning and ready to gather again and see if you can put a stop to the plot against Henry Jenkis.

HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! HIS HEAD FLIPPED RIGHT OFF! Just like the top of a carrot when slicing through with force and speed. There was an instant flash of pink flesh and then immediate blood-swelled to the surface. It was GLORIOUS. BYE BYE EARL! You really couldn't care less about him being dead other than liking that it is one less person in your way to getting your hands on Henry Jenkis' gold from his property! Earl was worthless trash, you're glad he's gone. And what a bunch of suckers everyone was! Sure, you didn't do much to persuade people to join in killing him, but you let it be known throughout the day that you wanted him dead, and well, enough of them eventually agreed to kill him and SLICE. OFF with his head! You replay the butchering over and over in
your
head. Mmmmmm. You can't wait for some more death. In excited-ness to meet with your cohorts you make your way to the cabin in the hills where you all agreed to meet and discuss what to do next.

Talk is brief between the bunch of you, but you all ultimately decide that you will kill Amanda Hills. CHAAA! EXCELLENT!!! You are excited!!! That freak! She wants to be a man, you think. Mmmm, you can almost smell the metallic-smelling blood.

You leave the cabin in the woods and make your way to Amanda Hills' home. You make your way around the house and her bedroom in the back. You tap quietly a few times. You see Amanda standing and startled, staring back at you.

"It's okay! I didn't mean to scare you. I'm not here to harm you, don't worry! I just have some news about Henry and I didn't want to wake your dad. Open the window so you can hear me better, will you?" You say, trying to disarm her. She does seem more at ease and she takes a step towards the window. She makes he way towards it and opens the window.

"What is it?" She asks.

"Henry has been found dead, it's over, but the magistrate wants everyone to gather to tell us all something about what happened." You lie an explanation to her hoping it will draw her out of the house so your job is easier. You hope you can get her to come out.

"Oh...wow!" You can hear in her voice she is shocked but at the same time relieved to hear that everything is resolved and finished. She puts on some shoes and slips out the window. You position yourself so that when she is done stepping out the window you're standing right in her face. Your hand is on your knife and ready. She stands upright and a sudden look of unease fills her face with how close you are even though the look you have on your face is one trying to be of comfort, she doesn't seem to buy it. You know it best not to delay or hesitate, and quickly take the small step towards her and close the gap and in the same step unsheathe your knife and slip it into her chest. It's done in an instant and she lets out a small gasp and then falls to the ground.

You make your way home and get a good night's rest and ready yourself to face tomorrow when you gather with everyone else again at the magistrate's.

Spoiler: Zachstralkita - Trackercook - Sheila Biggs
N1 - Zachstralkita ninjaTracks Nero Cain-
As several of those who were worn by the day and its events departed the scene where you had all been gathered, you, and some others, made preparations to stay and tend to Earl's body and finalizing things with him (ehhh, and head! since they will both need individual tending to, they are one no more.) Your mind can't help flash back to the killing stroke. You watched on as Almost50 raised the large axe (that was used in the assistance of butchering large animals like deer, elke, moose, bear, and goats - since a large-bladed, heavy axe like that is the only thing that really gets the head off any of that in a good way.) There was an all-familiar sound of blade through flesh and bone, but this was the first person you'd ever seen butchered and the instant flash of pink flesh at the severance and then almost immediate blood to the surface was an experience that trumped all others (unlike the butchered animals, not in a good way.) You suppose it was as good as it could have been, having to come down to trying to eliminate any threats to Henry and his estate.

Poor Henry. You feel for him and wonder what he must be going through. Hiding in the hills somewhere, knowing that there is someone trying to kill him and take over what he and his family have worked so diligently, painstakingly (just like all the gold miners here, sure, but, you were close to the Jenkis', they
are
were a good family. Now that only Henry remains, you are set to do what you can. Your mind flashes again to Earl, well, you tried to do what you thought was right, you didn't really support Earl's killing, there was only so much you could do, really. You tried what you could to get the person exposed who you thought was most likely involved in the plot against Henry Jenkis and his family, but not enough others supported you and you weren't going to force it. Ah well, you are going to track Nero Cain tonight in an effort to expose them.

Being a cook, you have access to a lot more food than most people, and accordingly so, you always come prepared to spend an extended period of time away from any access to food (such as traveling a long distance or going out for an extended hunting trip, which you go on frequently enough.) You brought 2 bread loafs, 2 biscuits, 5 apples, 4 lbs. of goat jerky, 8 cookies, and 1/2lb of carrots with you in a pack when you came to the meeting at the magistrate's. You of course also helped yourself to his pork and beans, with which you ate a little bit of one of the loaves and 1 of the biscuits over 2 servings of the stew throughout the day. At one point you also had an apple and some jerky. It's a good thing you ate well throughout the day, as you have no appetite after witnessing the beheading of Earl, and if your suspicions are correct, who knows what you might track Nero Cain to.

So, you've decided to not go home at all tonight and to follow Nero Cain wherever they might go, if anywhere.

In order to be certain not to be seen tracking Nero Cain, you take a quick opportunity to grab a scoop out of the magistrate's used coal and ash bin stored outside his cabin. No one sees you do that either, you are sure. You take some of the black coal into your hand and crush it and then mix it with some of the grey-ash. You then take some water from one of your waterskins (made from goat-belly) and drip it into your palm to create a dark paste, you spread it into both hands and then make enough spread it all over your exposed skin, starting with your hands, then going to your neck, then your face, even your eyelids.

And so you depart the magistrate's property in subtle, unseen pursuit of Nero Cain.

Alas, it appears they go nowhere eventful all night and you go home to get what little rest you can before gathering in the morning at the magistrate's to further discuss with everyone what to do about the plot against Henry Jenkis.

Wow. You know you agreed to the method of choosing by a majority vote to kill someone or not to try and expose those in a plot against Henry Jenkis and his property, but the reality of it is so much more brutal and horrible than any conception you had of it before it actually happened. That single stroke. An instant flash of pink flesh and then almost immediate blood swelling to the surface and expelling in copious mounts at a rapidly pulsing pace. You shake the images from your mind. *focus*

You think after the day's events that it will be a good idea to watch Almost50 and see who, if anyone, visits them over the Night. You brought a pack of supplies with you to the magistrate's when he summoned you, uncertain what you might want or need or what events were about to unfold, and so you came prepared. Be prepared! *phew* for gruesome beheading brutality! Nono, *focus.* You grab your pack from outside the magistrate's shed (you set it there upon your arrival and came to it as you needed through the day) and head off. Through the day you mostly partook of what others provided for food and saved what you have in your pack for yourself, aside from a couple pounds of berries that you had available to share with everyone that they ate some of you left there for tomorrow's meet. After you grab your pack you quickly take out a cup and grab a scoopful of coal and ash from the magistrate's large used coal and ash bin he has outside his shed and take it with you as you depart his property.

At first opportunity you take some of the black coal out of the scoop and crush it in your palm, then you take some grey-ash from the scoop and mix it in with the coal. You then take some water from a canteen and drop it in to your hand until you have a dark paste. You make enough to spread over your hands and cover them in it, and then do the same for your neck and face, ears, nose, eyelids included.

You make haste to a spot a distance from Almost50's home that shows the approach to it from all possible sides to ensure you know if anyone visits them. It is a spot where you can make yourself unseen and in a position to watch them through the night and see if anyone visits them. You drink coffee with added sugar. You munch on some chocolate (you have access to all things you might want, chocolate is one of your favorite things and you always keep enough in stock for yourself and anyone else that may ever want some.) You eat some cookies someone made and brought to the magistrate's. It will all help stay up all night watching.

As you stay affixed on your duties, you notice someone approaching from the east to Almost50's home. It is Bins! Bins definitely came to visit Almost50 over this night, you recognize them no doubt.

You've been given a huge responsibility and you face it squarely. Figuring out who is behind David's murder is not only for the good of Henry, but for the well-being of the entire community. The bad parts must be removed, just like an infection, to ensure the ongoing health of the whole.

And so you had hoped that Earl Adams would end up revealing to have been involved in the plot and that his death would be the first in a series of quick exactions of ill-doers from the group. But, unfortunately, that is not what happened...

"It's for the good of the investigations into who's behind this." Someone from the group said. They pulled Earl forth and interrogated him further. "What do you have to say? Anything useful?"

He didn't really. Just like all of the rest of the day, he didn't really have much to say. The group seemed resolved to killing him and you weren't really opposed to it really. "I'm really not involved, but do what you will, I suppose. Please, make it quick and painless, if you will. No hanging, my face is too beautiful to end in such a strained state. I want my head left in tact." He said to everyone. You all took him outside. Someone went to the tool shed and grabbed an axe. Someone else asked him to get on his knees. He did, and everyone surrounded him. It looked like he was going to take his death with dignity.

"Give me that axe." You said from outside the circle. "I want this to be done right." You cut through the circle, took the axe, and approached Earl. You knew that if it were to be done, you should do it so he was sure to go like he wanted.

He bowed his head. In one swift strong stroke you sliced his head clear off. There was a sudden flash of pink flesh and then an instant swelling of blood that spurted and pooled quickly. The body fell to the ground and his flipped in the air and landed on the ground in the same beat. It was done. He was dead.

After it was over you cleaned the axe and put it back in the tool shed. You gave instruction to someone to get a few from the town to build a casket, and a few others to go consult the Adams family and get seeing to a grave being dug and whatever other things they might want done. You wish you could give the word to them yourself, but you wanted to stay with the body, you felt a duty to its well-being was higher. You stayed with him until he was buried in the ground.

After that you went home, cleaned up, had a small meal, and set out to see if Drixx might need your healing services at any point on this night. But, no, he does not. You head home, get some rest, and make ready for the next day, to gather again at the magistrate's and try to work out what is going on.

Well, it had to be done. It couldn't be helped. You didn't know Earl Adams very well, but you are definitely sad for his death. But it couldn't be helped. Definitely better him than you. You repeat these thoughts in your head to help you keep clarity on the whole situation and what just happened - so you don't spin into a daze of shock and surrealness. You will at least wait until you are home to do that. You forced yourself to watch the whole thing, since you decided to voice your agreeance to it. It had to be done. It was really what was best. You continue to try and convince yourself of those things as the scene replays in your head as you make your way home. A swift swing of that large axe, and WHISH, FLOP. A sudden flash of pink and then a sudden swelling of red. Egh. You shake the thoughts from your head and focus on the rest of the day's events.

At first you were feeling good about having been chosen by the magistrate to particpate. The intense and heavy realness of the situation hadn't hit you at all when you heard of the killing of David or anything through the whole day when you were discussing what to do about it all and how to protect Henry. Sure, you were taking it seriously, and the loss of David and potential loss of Henry meant something to you, but the reality of it all really only hit you when Earl was killed. It's not that you aren't wanting to continue your mission, but that feeling good feeling about having been asked to help is far gone, feels like a different lifetime.

You make your way home, have a small but satisfying dinner, and head to bed. There you talk with your sister a bit, and after some time fall asleep. Tomorrow you face another day meeting and discussing what to do at the magistrate's with the others.

Well, you can't really say you're disappointed in how the day ended up going. One less person in the way of you getting the gold which is one step closer to you getting out of here. What a scene that was! Almost50 just took that axe and WHACK. A quick flash of pink and then a sudden swelling of blood. So much blood! You think about that and the rest of the day's events as you make your way to the cabin in the hills to meet the rest of your cohorts.

Talk there is brief and afterward you head home, get some food, a good-sized meal of mashed potatoes and goat stew, and then head to bed. You talk to your sister for a little bit and then fall asleep.

In the morning your thoughts turn towards continuing to scheme to get your hands on more of the gold. You want to take out the hunk you got from Henry and look at it now, but you can't risk being seen by anyone. Dangit, you wish you knew where Henry was, it would make things so much easier, damn that magistrate, making us do all of this. Ah well, you prepare yourself for the day, get some good food in you, prepare a small pot of leftovers from last night to help sustain you through the day, and head off.

N1-
Woooo!!! That was something special! Thrilling! Exhilarating! SHWING! FLIP! FLOP! PLOP! A quick flash of pink and then a sudden swelling of deep red. A spurt and he was down and the blood pooled SO quickly! You've never seen anything like it. Head clean off! Your adrenaline is pumping hard and your breathing is fast to accommodate. You have to work not to grin and go up to the others and be like "wow! did you
see
that?", but you do contain yourself and your excitement. Typical, as always, having to oppress your true self to accommodate others. Mleh, you wish them all dead. You didn't know Earl at all really. He always seemed kind of slow and boring, not worth your time at all. You replay the scene of his death over and over in your head as you say your goodbyes.

You depart the scene at the magistrates like many of the others and head to your meeting place with the others to the cabin in the hills. Talk there is brief, but the group comes around to the decision that it is your sister who is going to be killed. Oh glorious! And you thought this day couldn't get any better!!! This is going to be the best week of your life! The gold (okay, your portion of it) will be yours! You can smell it! You can taste it! You all decide it is best that you not be the one to kill your sister. With that, you all depart and you make your way home.

This will be the last time you see your sister. You feel numb and indifferent in a lot of ways, but excited in some others that you know don't come from a place of good. You wonder how you will feel about it over time, but those thoughts are fleeting and you are soon thinking about what food to have. No matter how good a batch of pork and beans are, they're still just pork and beans to you and aren't very satisfying and you have a hard time filling up on them.

You get home, eat, prepare for bed, and go to your room. The final conversation you have with her is typical for the day's events; nothing it wouldn't have been if you didn't know randomidget was going to make a kill attempt on her tonight. You talk about the day and then are soon to sleep.

You wake to hear a tapping on the window, and you can only assume you know who it is and why they are here. You hear your sister. "Beverly, wake up! Someone is here." You know she can see you laying there, you pretend to be sleeping deeply. You listen to the events unfold.

You hear : "It's okay! I didn't mean to scare you. I'm not here to harm you, don't worry! I just have some news about Henry and I didn't want to wake your dad. Open the window so you can hear me better, will you?" You hear her take a step toward the window, you hope she found his words disarming. "Beverly, wake up!" She repeats to you. You pretend remain hard asleep. You hear her open the window.

"What is it?" She asks.

"Henry has been found dead, it's over, but the magistrate wants everyone to gather to tell us all something about what happened."

"Oh...wow!" Amanda says. You hear her put on some shoes and slip out the window. You fall back asleep.

You wake the dead, notice your sister gone, figure her for dead, but focus on treating the day as if it is any other. You shut the window. You make your thoughts think that she is down eating breakfast or has already left for the meeting. You prepare yourself and head off to the meeting.

Well! So that's how that goes. Kind of like with an animal, but also completely different. That is definitely something that will stick with you for your lifetime, you're sure. You made yourself watch considering you voiced your agreeance in his death. You don't really "feel" anyway about it, but you are able to pretend to to the others. You pretended you did it because it was your duty and you did what you thought was right, but really you didn't care much about who died as long as it helped you get closer to getting your hands on the yellow glorious gold.

You stayed after most have left and help with some others tend to Earl and get him secured and buried. It was fine, you guess. It definitely looked good for you to be there, but you couldn't help but think about food. You got really hungry about halfway through carrying the casket back to Earl's property and to the grave that was dug for him, and it was really distracting from then on, the whole thing seemed to take three times longer than it should have. Ah, well. So, you made your way home and had a good meal of stewed vegetables and steamed corn. You made a large serving of everything so that you can take leftovers with you tomorrow when you go back to the magistrate's.

You fall asleep rather easily and slept hard after such a long day, so much walking, and a later than usual night given all the things you had to do out of the ordinary. Hopefully it all becomes worth it and you get the pay-off you've been waiting for and you can move out of this hole. Until then, you'll do what needs done, as you did this day. You'll do the same tomorrow.

Well, so that is how things ended up going. Not what you thought at the start of the day when you were summoned by the magistrate at all.

You're not too sure how to feel about it all. You suppose you can understand that the killing had to be done, but, you couldn't support it and would have probably just liked no one to die at all. But then you could have said the same two days ago before David was killed, if you knew it was something that made sense to be saying. You didn't watch the killing, you didn't want that to be your last visual of Earl. You knew him better than most, probably. He kept to himself a lot and was a dedicated and decent enough gold miner. You often saw him making his way down from the hills or back up from the creek. You'd ask him if it was showing him anything good and he'd ask you the same and other general exchanged pleasantries. You stayed after most of the others had left to help with tending his corpse and seeing to his burial. It was a nice burial, as far as they go. Even though the carrying and walk of the coffin with body in it back to his property was a bit of a task, you are glad to have been one of the several tasked with it.

After the burial was over the thoughts of the day filled your head. Would tomorrow be more of the same? Would you even live to see tomorrow? You couldn't help but wonder. As you got back to your property you contemplated what to make for dinner and settled on making a big pot of oatmeal. You put in a good portion of sugar and cinnamon, tossed in some diced apples and raisins, toasted a couple pieces of bread, and were set to a meal. You ate, prepared for bed, and went to it. You fell asleep pretty fast. In the morning you woke, ready to face another day gathered at the magistrate's trying to resolve the situation at hand.

Spoiler: Tywin Lannister
N1-
You aren't so surprised it turned to such violence. You had a feeling it would. You were hoping it wouldn't, but the agenda of the ill-doers is now clearly that of spilling as much blood as it takes to get what they want. You knew Earl pretty well, and were a sad to see him have to be killed and so many turn on him. You hope his death serves some purpose. You stay behind and help tend to the body and getting the casket up to his property and seeing to him being buried. It was a nice service and it was good to see so many people there. You even said some words for him and it felt good. After it was over you headed home and the goings-on of the day repeated over in your head.

Once home you have a small meal of some nuts, applesauce, and toast with jelly. You had a couple good servings of the pork and beans that the magistrate had at his place today, as well as some bread someone shared with you and an apple and sandwich you'd taken yourself. You wonder what he's going to be serving tomorrow. You wondered if tomorrow would be more of the same, and figured so. Ah well, not much you can do but try and do your best and expose those responsible for plotting against the Jenkis brothers and causing all of this. If they aren't stopped quickly the amount of bloodshed is bound to mount. You head off to bed and as you fall asleep. Rest is decent enough and you wake prepared to gather again at the magistrate's.

randomidget ninjakills oldwinoAnother day, another obstacle to your goal removed. Victory and GOLD will soon be within your grasp! You never thought it would be this easy.
Again, they turn to you to make the kill. "How about it Jeb, you up for another?"

"Sure, why not, tell me who where how and I'm on it." You are already used to it, why didn't you think to start killing people for their gold sooner? You guess you never have been very smart.

"Let's go for Gilbert, I think he's a good kill. Cover yourself with some coal and ash to be sure you're not seen."

"Sounds good." You say. You make a thick dark paste from the coal and ash and some water and apply it to your head, neck, and hands.

You leave the meeting and make your way to Gilbert's house. Everyone there seems fast asleep and you wonder for a minute how you're going to kill Gilbert without disturbing the whole household. Then it occurs to you that you could just kill them all: his wife, his kids. Maybe if you set the whole place on fire that would take care of it. No, that is too risky that someone would live, you'd rather them all be dead.

Just then you spot Gilbert coming up the trail to his house. "Where's he been?" You wonder. You didn't think about him not being home and are glad you didn't just set the place on fire and leave assuming he'd be in there, that could have been disastrous.

Well, now is your opportunity, you can take him out and leave his wife and kids alone, that'll be easier and take less time anyway.

You circle around behind him and quickly sneak up on him. In one quick move you stand, grab his head and pull it back and slice his neck with your 6-inch blade. You can feel the warm blood rush over your hand in an instant and within seconds his body goes heavy and you let him drop.

You go home, wash, and head to bed. As you fall asleep you think of gold. Piles and piles of gold. YES! It will be yours!

You sleep very well.

Spoiler: oldwino N2
oldwino watches ZachstralkitaWhat a bunch of bickerers and slackers! Here you are, taking the task given to you very seriously, dedicating your thoughts and time, trying to do right, and it seems like everyone else barely even cares. They'd rather barely give any effort or distract the entire day's proceedings with squabbling between each other. Ah well, it'll hopefully be over before too much longer.

You leave the meeting and, similarly to before, take your pack of goods and supplies and go to watch over Sheila Biggs (Zachstralkita) to see if anyone visits her in the night. You find a good, secluded spot, and keep watch.

After a little time you, again, see Lou Diddle Lynn (Bins). She approaches Sheila's house but doesn't go inside, instead she paces back and forth outside, as if she is on guard. You wonder what she could be coming here for...

You wake with a start. You must have fallen asleep. DAMN! What happened? Did you miss something? You can only wonder as there seems to be no sign of anything anymore.

Satisfied that that will be all for the night, you head home in the wee hours, anxious to kiss the heads of your sleeping children and cozy up to you wife in bed before heading out to the magistrate's again in the morning.

You're on the final trail that leads directly to your house. You look up at the stars and appreciate them, and then someone grabs your head from behind and tilts it back and...

YOU ARE DEAD!

Spoiler: Bins N2
Bins guards ZachstralkitaWhat a pain in the ass day. You're not sure if anything was accomplished, all you know is that you are one more person down who was loyal to Henry Jenkis and that makes your task that much harder. You think about who might be in trouble this night, if patterns tell you anything, it's that there's likely going to be another murder to one of the group tonight.

You decided to go to Zachstralkita's house and guard over them in the night. You patrol outside around their home for a good number of hours before being satisfied that there is no threat to them this night, and you head home.

As you approach your home you see someone at the side of your house, peeking in your bedroom window. THE FUCK?! In a quick flash of rage you drop all of your belongings except your walking stick and run up behind them before they are alerted to your presence. In one swift, strong stroke you take out their legs and they fall to the ground. You take a handful of swings with your stick to their head and then you rush inside to make sure no harm has come to any of your family.

All seem well.

It takes you a while to fall asleep after the adrenaline rush, but you do sleep, and hard. You wake in the morning restored and ready to get back to the magistrate's to continue trying to figure out who is responsible for the killings.

Spoiler: Almost50 N2
Almost50 heals BinsWell that was an interesting day. You aren't sure what to make of it, but you suppose it'll have to do, you did what you could and thought was best. The possibilities of who is responsble swirl through your head. Your thoughts turn to something Bins said. Hmmm, you wonder about them, could they be part of the plot against Henry? Are they a liar or telling the truth? Will you even be able to tell? You decide to take some precaution just in case and wrap your head in multiple layers of thick leather and go see if they need any help this night. You go to their property and sneak up to their house. You look in one window to see what you can see. It's dark, you see nothing.

You look in another window. Still dark. Hmmmm, what does it mean?

Suddenly, you find yourself face down in the dirt and someone is bashing you in the head repeatedly. You lay still and after a handful of swings they stop and disappear.

With a slight headache but no worse for the wear, you head home. You're SO TOUGH AND SMART! You go to bed and wake in the morning ready to get back to the magistrate's and see what the day brings.

Spoiler: Zachstralkita N2
Zachstralkita tracks DrixxWhat an exhausting day. It's like no one wants to listen to you. Ahwell, you do what you can and keep on doing that and that's all you can do! Yep!

After the meeting is over you do similarly to as you did before and take your pack and track Drixx to see if they visit anyone from the group. They do not.

Satisfied, you head home and get some rest and wake ready to face another day at the magistrate's bickering about what to do.

N3 ACTIONS + PMs

Bins guards Drixx
Almost50 heals Drixx
Zachstralkita tracks Almost50
Persivul strongmankills Zachstralkita

Spoiler: Bins
Bins guards DrixxAfter a short day you decide it most likely that Beverly Hills needs protecting. You go to her house and keep guard but no one ever shows up.

You head home, go to bed, wake the next day, and head back to the magistrate's house.

Spoiler: Almost50
Almost50 heals DrixxAfter a rather short day you think Beverly Hills is most likely in danger tonight so you head to her home in order to see if she needs any healing. She does not.

You head home, go to bed, wake the next day, and head back to the magistrat'es house.

Spoiler: Zachstralkita
Zachstralkita tracks Almost50You are amazed you lived through the day, you thought it was either you or Floretta, and Floretta ended up sacrificing herself instead of coming at you much. You are a bit shocked at that, but, maybe it was for the good of those looking after Henry's interests? You can only guess.

You decided to track Lars Henrikson to see where he goes this night and you track him to Beverly Hills' home. What he did there, you are not sure. Satisfied with that being all you're able to discern, you head home, get some food, and fall asleep. Sleep doesn't come easy and you feel restless and keep waking with a start for some reason.

After you're not sure how long you awake to a disturbing sound.

*SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS* It seems to be coming from your closet. As you open the closet you can see sparks of a fuse attached to a bundle of dynamite. It immediately processes that this will be your end, and if you don't act quickly, the end to your family as well. You grab the bundle and make a fast dash to your window and leap out of it, cradling the bundle with your body to help protect your husband from the explosion.

BOOOM! Pieces of you fly everywhere, but you saved your family at least!

Spoiler: Persivul
Persivul strongmankills ZachstralkitaAfter a quick and successful day you head back to the cabin in the hills to meet with you fellow greedy gold-lovers. After some back and forth on what to do and if things are truly at their end, you decide that it is best if you kill Sheila Biggs with a bundle of dynamite to be extra sure she dies in case someone goes to protect or heal her.

You wait until you are sure she is in bed and then you sneak through her open bedroom window, very quietly open their closet, light the fuze and quickly make your way back out the window you came in.

You stand a good distance away from the house to verify that the kill was successful and within a few moments you see Sheila jump out of her window cradling the bundle of dynamite. And then she disappears in a mist and you hear some chunks of her fall to the ground. Kill successful!

You head home, get some food, go to bed, and wake the next morning to go to the magistrate's house to see what is next.

yep, I know 9v4 is extremely scum-powerful

I hope you're all not mad at me

I thought I had it balanced despite the 9v4 and in reflection I should have done a few things differently to make it less scum-sided, but I still think town had a good chance of winning regardless of the current configuration, they just had to play really well

I welcome criticism and feedback regarding the setup and how I did everything

IMO town should never claim unprovoked - the PGOs claiming early just let scum stay away from them and guide them to better / safer kills

IMO town should never be okay with a lurker lynch unless it is D3 or later - Tywin went MIA and barely posted and yet everyone was okay with the lynch and that just lets scum rule - hint: when a wagon builds that easily on someone who isn't posting, it's likely a scumdriven wagon on town

IMO town should never self-vote or fake-claim

these 3 things led to the fast downfall of town I think

I want to know why no one demanded Drixx share his claimed redirect flavor

all flavor tied to abilities and he simply claimed "redirect" and no one batted an eye at it

I typically give everyone a PM even if they are vanilla or a goon, I failed on that N2 and N3 - badmod

I was a bit drained because of things

THANKS THANKS!!! I am definitely a better mod than player (at least town player, I think my scumgame is pretty good)

my next game is a 17p large theme with very complex mechanics/roles

and I have about 5 more large themes mapped out after that one - I think I pretty much will only be modding large themes from now on (when I mod) - did the mini as a pre-req.

done!

I'll probably run it after the MU tournament because Nacho + Tammy are going to give me feedback on it before I run it because I'm going to tweak it a bit (they played it on my HS - it was my first modded game) and I think will want to at least observe its 2nd iteration - this is why I don't share what my HS is, because I ran the game there and want to run it here closed

it makes no sense for PGOs to claim, it's like players think they are smarter than the mod? the mod should know what they're doing if they put PGOs in and balance accordingly (like I did with my 2xBP doc and ninja abilities that bypass the PGO - and amillion other ways)

otherwise what is the point at all of having a PGO in a game? if site meta is to just claim out of the gate it makes it a useless role and why put it in?

Slingshot, you were fine, just lurked a bit much, but I liked how you played for the most part and hope to see you around MS more (: glad I let you in!

PGO just takes talent to play I think

you want to get hard TR so scum NK you and town doesn't waste investigatives on you - if you are hard TR you might get BGed or docced, and the mod should setup accordingly (by preparing for the doc to die, etc.)

correct

standard ninja as far as tracker and watcher goes, but kind of a BP against the PGOs (flavorwise - if you were covered in coal and ash and visited a PGO, the PGO wouldn't see you and therefore wouldn't kill you)

six townies voted drixx d1 but we couldn't lynch him because all a 4 man team has to do in a mini is not buss and they're basically guaranteed to win
IMO a good town should recognize when a wagon is not going to lynch because it is a scum wagon and no one is busing and those who want the lynch should pressure those who don't want it as to why they don't want it and try to convince them it is a good wagon and threaten "you're scum who won't bus" sorts of things

if town is successful and achieves the lynch it REALLY exposes the scumbuddies and can be hugely damning for scum - I try to set the swing in my games to favor those who are actually playing well

part of the game issue was some poor modding on my part

tywin was inactive too long and I didn't replace him fast enough - I would have ideally ended D2 with NL and replaced him before he got lynched - and was going to but waited too long

of course you think I'm making excuses instead of actually trying to explain myself / what I think

but my statement actually holds true to what I think regardless of how many scum there are - a good town should recognize that at least potentially why a wagon is not going to lynch is because it is a scum wagon and scum aren't busing for whatever reason, and this is actually something that is EASIER to do if there are more scum because 1.) it is more likely to happen and 2.) when it happens the associations, as I said, can be damning if scum is not careful

I would have preferred this to be a 14-15p game, actually, but for some dumb reason the mini-queue is 10-13 (giving only 4 different player # amounts) and the large theme is 14-99 (giving 85 different player # amounts) - if this had run at 12p I would have only had 3 scum, I believe I already stated (in the observer thread maybe?) that it was an experiment to do 9v4 and see how it went and I've already explained why I think it is mostly okay as is - town needs to play better in order to win, it's pretty simple, and if they had, they could have, and I don't think anyone would argue against that ?

thanks all for being guinea pigs and not being too pissed at me for it (:

claiming ascetic early seems equally as pointless and boring

did you read anything I said? it's not about 'titus being right about the setup', I frikken said it was scumsided before she even stuck her nose in here - my issue is with her not having any interest in trying to understand why I did it this way and pulling BSout of her butt (as she always does) about me "making excuses"

and how is it a waste of time if it is fun, interesting - unless it is all about winning for you, I guess - you sure like to whine, persivul, like, you can't even recognize that the indeterminite deadline actually benefited the game, you just want to whine about it because ??? you're not used to it I guess?

and again, town definitely had a chance to win, if they played well
