I played a game the other day where I got matched against 5 D1 players (I'm d5 with a mid d4 mmr). Somehow me and the random who I was supporting smashed their pre-made botlane. It was a good feeling

I'd recommend just looking up whatever champ you want to play on probuilds.net and looking through 2/3 to see what's common. Easily the best way of doing it

Yasuo is fun to play but he requires care because he's a squishy champion that relies on getting close with his enemies, and unlike other assassins(Akali, Zed, Talon, Leblanc, Fizz) he doesn't have a particularly good escape ability.

I remember I used to play exclusively team builder when it was a thing.... those were the days.

In other news I think I'm going to start playing ranked again. I set myself a target of Diamond 1 at the start of the season but as usual I've played practically 0 ranked so far.

Just tell them you're a smurf and when it inevitably goes wrong just mention that your smurf is the same rank as your main. Also mention that it's the same account.

I'm a diamond 5 (quickly climbing) support main who plays predominantly solo. I almost always lose lane in the later levels with a pre-made who I'm on voice comms with ftr.

Support is a really rewarding role if you invest the time into learning it well. It's not as flashy as other roles in that you won't be getting a pentakill etc. Anytime soon but there's nothing more satisfying than something like madlifing the enemy ad carry and tilting them for life.
That's just my two cents anyway.

I'm also going to acknowledge that playing support in high elo is definitely a lot more rewarding / enjoyable than the lower ranks so what do I know

Support definitely has more impact, it's far more frustrating being adc playing with a support that does nothing than vice versa imo

I agree that for the first ~9 minutes, support is more important than ADC. That doesn't make it a good, healthy or interesting role. And it doesn't make it one that really has a direct impact on the game.

It 100% has a direct impact on the game.

A bad support will mean botlane (mostly) loses.
A bad support won't roam and help struggling teammates.
A bad support has no vision / objective control.

A good support will deny vision late game and will force a pick. If that's not directly impacting the game I don't know what is.
-Side note: I'm a support main, I'm obviously going to be biased

I completely disagree with the second sentiment. I (personally) don't play support because the role is fun / not fun / I can't play anything else (Which I do to a similar-ish level I want to point out), I love the champions and the intricacies of said champions. I like the intellectual battle between actually good supports for vision control and the co-ordination that a support has to form with their team in ranked in order to thrive.

I guess you can call me weird but I'm perfectly happy with support as a role and would be sad to see it go.

Except that I'm very clearly in the majority here. Why do you think your queues are so long? Why do you think "fill=support"? Why does everyone complain that they can't make support their secondary because they get it a vast majority of the time? Why did Riot literally just implement a system where your preference choices are null and void based if you are in queue for a long time in an effort to shorten their queue numbers? Remember how long it took them to implement this pick your role system in the first place? Do you remember the excuse? "Queue times will get longer because nobody wants to play support" That was the ACTUAL RIOT RESPONSE to why we couldn't have the role system 5 years ago. I can firmly say,

Obviously support is the least popular role to main, we all know that. But it's not as if it's a ridiculously low number either. At the end of the day those people main it for a reason,

A)They enjoy it
B)They're good at it

Those people play it for a reason. It's never going to be practical to create a role that everyone enjoys playing all the time, because that legitimately defeats the purpose of maining a role

I would argue that most support mains, are such because SOMEONE has to support, not because they actually want to be a support. Even ani admits to wanting to jungle rather than support. I'm only defining 'maining' support as a player playing it when both solo and premade with people. Otherwise they're not a support main

More importantly the system will eventually place you where you'll win roughly only half your games. Unless you play bots.

Funnily enough I'm still 'climbing' in normal draft.
I currently have ~1200 wins and ~1040 losses. (Been playing since season 2ish)

As far as I know it's similar to D.VA in Overwatch

ie. You ride around on it (Whether by default or not idk) and it takes damage first. The stats you buy transfer to the mount and it has a special set of abilities. Once it dies you get dismounted and you are just you again with a different ability set

All of the constructive criticism is noted ^^. I guess I have a problem where I oversync to the beat of the music and I'm almost afraid to 'skip' one by not having a big play on it. I generally try to do it too much and it's nice to know that it's not just me that's worrying about it. For the ori one particularly I wanted to have some sort of crosshair / circle, as seen in lot's of videos, to show who it was but after having this video sit on my laptop for half a year I said today enough is enough and that I would just finish it.

I'd be lying if I said that there are never times when I go for it and it doesn't work out, HOWEVER, I tend to do it on supports like Thresh / Blitzcrank (go for the predict that is.) so I get a lot more chances at it. The ones on midlaners like Ahri, Zed etc. are all one off things where I am fairly convinced they are going to. The two ahri clips were both from the same game and they were the only time I did it in that game for example.

I dunno, I guess I'm just good at reading people from maining thresh for so long that It's kind of transferred. After laning against someone mid for ~3 minutes I can usually tell what way they're going to juke etc.

Weee I did it got back into diamond :^)

Went 4-6 in placements, got plat 2. Won a few, lost a few and eventually got into plat 1. Then 7 game winstreak to get diamond :p (Was getting 25lp per win, so 4 games, then won first 3 promos).

This is unbelievably accurate for how I got diamond this season already

Not to put a damper on the montage, but a lot of it is in higher levels of play, play becomes more predictable as you can expect more optimal plays from people, and then it comes down to game knowledge and knowing if summoners are up.

It's definitely easier to predict a high level player then a bronze level player.

It's insane how often I'll expect someone to try dodge a skillshot so I just whiff because they're oblivious to it. There's such a big change that has to be made in mindset

mastery flashing after a play is fine. doing it every time you get a kill or if the enemy makes a mistake or whatever is douchey

Yeah it's annoying having to change that mindset back and forth, even if i'm playing support all night, i will have to shift between predicting dodges and not predicting them and going straight with my skillshots.

And then you sometimes have to remember which people know how to dodge and which ones don't (i play a lot of thresh as support)

It's so frustrating haha, I'll regularly go 'Ok remember just aim it at them; they won't dodge' but still instinctively try to predict the juke... Inevitably I then get called boosted :/

I played on one of the top teams in Ireland for a long time, gave it up due to a pretty toxic community (Not toxic in the 'OMG U NOOB' sense, more toxic as in manipulative etc.). It was unfortunate but I had fun while it lasted.

I had a weird experience with my flex placements

Background info: I played about 30 games last season and was around gold 4 ish

I went 5-5 in my placements this season playing off role champs (I'm a support & mid main, I was playing Gangplank, Riven etc. because they're fun) and placed plat 2. How does that work o.0

Good: I finally got diamond again (~95 games, took me 5 attempts at promos)

Bad: Thresh is still garbage so I've resorted to onetricking Nami (62% winrate is pretty legit)

To add to this, some tales from my d5 promos

Promos 1:
I was 2-2, in my 5th game our rengar top decided to run it down mid and ended the game 1/23.

Promos 2:
I was 2-2, in my 5th game I played against a guy legitimately getting boosted by a challenger smurf in a boosting group known as L9 (EUW)... so yeah we lost that game

Promos 3:
I was 2-2, played horrendously in the 5th game so no complaints here

Promos 4:
Once again I was 2-2 (crazy I know) and had a lee sin mid. It did not go well.

Promos 5:
I actually won my promos 3-1 this time, surprisingly out of the 3 wins (all on nami) the easiest game by far was the first where I forgot to change my runes so I played guardian Nami (left over braum runes). It was actually fun, I was hella tanky early.

All in all I hate D5 and can finally go back to normals / messing around in flex.

I was d5 in like.. April? But I haven't played at all so have probably decayed to about plat 5 again. I did the exact same thing last year and it was pretty fine to climb back up again, albeit a bit close given I got it the day before the season ended.
