Awww yes.

I can't be PALADIN ANDRIUS without CLERIC PINE so maybe I'll just be a highwayman or something.
Maybe I'll invite someone too.

Menno, I'm currently working on a
Highwayman
Rogue with some Face abilities, and am likely rolling with Hook C.

If that helps you at all.

My Character Sheet is like 95% done, assuming I didn't mess up anything. I'm still deciding on a few things, namely since I'm almost broke if I buy the Thieves' Tools.

But this should be enough to work with for the rest of you. I've dumped [Str and Wis] since I don't need that crap and Weapon Finesse makes me content with dumping Str to the degree I did.
I've also gone with a more Social Rogue as well, so we do have a Face.

I don't recall editing the Ref Save but I fixed it nonetheless.

Craven was a TO DO given it was great and came highly recommended, but I'll strike it from the WISHLIST then.

Does SpyreX count as a deity?

If I pay an extra 2 silver can I get another glass to go with my wine? I need a pair of glasses to be social, and if I'm drinking by myself I don't need a glass. :P

I know spells requires slots and preparation/scrolls/memorizing so you may need to check in with FakeGod or Google regarding that.
I don't recall Gnomes having a benefit to Skill/Feat selection, but most everyone starts with a Feat at L1 and it looks like you start with 20 Skill Points at L1 as well. ((2+3)*4).

Also all of you casters are going to want to consider armor of some sorts since we don't really have a strong front line. :P

And since I forgot:

Backstory:
Erwin and his younger brother were the sons of a baker, but were orphaned at a young age during a gang war in the streets. He and his brother shortly began a life of crime. While his brother served as a tactician for one of the gangs, Erwin became a conman, excelling at infiltration, and sabotage, making a number of friends and enemies within the city as the demand for his skills grew. The Walsh Job was their last. Betrayed by a one-time ally, Erwin's brother died in the ensuing skirmish and Erwin is uncharacteristically silent on the subject of what happened that night. Severing his ties with the gold-obsessed gangs, Erwin seeks to forge his own fate and do good in the land between the letter of the law and the spirit of freedom without the law.

Through his contacts, Erwin accepted a job from Baron Armsworth to deliver Alexander Armsworth from captivity, thankful for the opportunity to use his skills for a just cause.

EP and I were discussing languages.

I speak [Undercommon, Orcish] in addition to Common.
EP said he'd take Draconic.

So if that helps you all not double-up that'd be great.
Unless you want to have a secret language with someone else that we can't understand of course.
Like Gnomish for our resident Gnomes.

Well, we speak extra languages equal to your INT modifier, so I have a +2 INT so I speak two extra languages besides Common.
EP and I were just discussing that maybe we shouldn't double-up on languages, so long as we have someone who can speak a chunk of the major languages.

I highly doubt we'll run into Drow outside of the Underdark, but it makes sense on a Rogue and I personally like the Underdark.
Orcish is fairly standard and/or the hooks specifically mentioned ORCS might be around.

Lantern would be nice for extra light if we're camping or something. I mean its not really wieldy in combat but it would be nice to have if someone's willing to buy/carry it.

Going to re-evaluate my inventory later as I feel like I have too little gold at present. lol
Also need to put more work into my character personality side of the sheet.

Would FakeGod allow proxy actions, namely for fighting? I mean we couldn't know how to interact with stuff for you but could you still fight in any confrontations we find ourselves in?

I mean we can surmise that if someone insults you for your orc blood you'd punch them in the face but beyond that would combat be ok?
If I were MIA for a week I'd let someone proxy fight for me. If that's a thing.

Did you finalize buying the cart?
Can anyone just dump stuff in it? Because I'll totally load up on more torches if I can just drop my pack in the cart and not carry it for awhile or just drop my stack of torches.

Also sometime during the mid-morning hours Firebringer wanted to discuss battle strategy and/or marching order.
Add that to our TO DO list as well.

In all honesty I think it would provide a good amount of utility for the group if we're going to be above-ground for awhile.
We can carry more crap on the cart and/or transport injured/captured people on it.

I mean it costs a fair bit and I can't really contribute to it but I would spend all my coppers on torches (and extra food?) if I knew I could dump them on the cart. My issue is I can't carry anything else at the moment and you've got my bedroll so.

I'm open to discussion.

My Spot check is actually pretty crap (only +2) but I can still move around undetected fairly well (Hide and Move Silent are +7) so those are nice to have. I'm otherwise fairly flexible.

I missed three attacks for around 20 damage total.

I imagine that would have helped, and Erwin's feeling that right about now.

I'll just be over here with my 44 skill points being super useful.

Since I can't hit anything with my rapier.

Does anyone want:

+3 Vials of poison
+Light crossbow

I gave the Spell Components Pouch to Steve, so there's that.

I'll probably keep the dagger for throwing.

And then you said I succeeded and it was like the sun shone down and the trees parted and Ayarte's blood cried out from the ground and I felt the anger and went for it. I considered letting Raia kill him as I was typing the letters but just wanted him dead. Even if it was an ambush he was a dead man. Erwin feels zero guilt about killing the bastards.

They were likely slaver scum and deserve death.
Not to mention they poisoned you, incapacitated the rearguard, and were willing to kill Raia
after killing Ayarte
.
Words don't solve this problem.

Spoiler: For Firebringer

I'm selling the leather armor since everyone has its equivalent or better in terns of armor, and we can't repurpose it for Houndour.

So we had a brief conversation on Skype last night about maybe taking time to RP while FG isn't there. So basically what we did for those few days before the campaign. And its not like we don't want you there, FG, but given we can only progress the story in our limited window we talked about taking time to roleplay outside of our official time to flesh out the characters and get to know the party.

Because the more time we spend talking/arguing/getting to know party members during our official time the less we actually get done re: progressing the story etc. Otherwise we won't really see Hellion or Raia grieve Ayarte's death or Erwin and Fiona have their chat under the tree etc. So maybe just pretending we're sitting at/around the inn for an hour or so.

Spoiler: Re: RP
Giga wrote:honestly I'm kind of disappointed theres no one that riffs off of raia's personality well
in past campaigns theres always some hyper CN character that absolutely hates raia's guts and raia hates them back and their petty arguments are always hilarious
Giga wrote:here she's kind of tolerable and likeable
This is your explanation.
If she ran around being insufferable we'd have issues.
Fire wrote:Not much variety in personality types imo with all the neutral foods
Goods
This is part of the reason why roleplaying is so important.
This isn't some religious pilgrimage of LG's running around following a code. We all have our lines.
For instance, I'm passively working on a tier of things for what is important to Erwin. So Erwin was willing to hold his sword when the knife was held to Ayarte's throat, but would he be willing to do the same if Hellion or Fiona were in that position? Would he abandon the quest to save the lives of his companions, or abandon them to finish the quest?

I also gave you some great fodder you can use against Erwin. I didn't drop my blade when told to. I killed an injured (likely unable to defend himself) Sevan in the woods without batting an eye.

I liked Achan's outrage over why no one distrusted the dwarf and how badly we handled the situation, but I think people were too shellshocked at the moment to do anything with it.
giga wrote:has anyone actually read my character's backstory btw
Most of it!
giga wrote:also raia doesn't see achan as part of the party btw since he didn't sign the contract.
postie wrote:He doesn't really see himself as part of the party either
This is something that you both can use.

To my knowledge, everything we've done has been on roll20, save one conversation.

I definitely think a scheduled session where we're all here would be great, especially since we should bury Ayarte and have a service/memorial for the fallen. Maybe just pick a weeknight and go from there?

Spoiler: Erwin and Hellion, for any interested parties
10:46PMHellion Firebreaker: These last few days Erwin. They have been....a bit hard.

10:46PMErwin: Yeah. We've had a rough go of it. How's Fiona holding up?

10:46PMHellion Firebreaker: She is tough, she will pull together.
I think she is doing better than me in all honesty.

10:47PMErwin: Hey, I have something, if you want it.
places Ayarte's Holy Symbol on the table
This was Ayarte's.

10:47PMHellion Firebreaker: stares at it blankly I-I couldn't accept this...I barely knew her!

10:48PMErwin: I know you well enough to know you don't go calling every lady you meet a seductress.

10:48PMHellion Firebreaker: I did enjoy her when she was here...
But, I didn't really get to know her.
Still wish I could have done something to help.
(brb going to get a drink)

10:50PMErwin: Look, I'll tell it to you straight.
I froze. You weren't there, but they had a blade to her throat. The others dropped their weapons. I knew if I did we were dead. I froze. And they killed her for it.
(np man)

10:52PMHellion Firebreaker: (back)
looks stunned What if all they wanted was some information?
How do you know we all would be dead!?!?!?!?

Hellion Firebreaker is visibly angry

10:53PMErwin: I don't. All I knew was they took all three of them out with one spell and you were unconscious and Fiona was charging them

10:53PMHellion Firebreaker: All this could have been averted!

10:54PMErwin: I don't think they'd have put them to sleep if they had good intentions. And they were trying to avoid being seen.

10:54PMHellion Firebreaker: Erwin, we still don't even know what they were after!

10:54PMErwin: That's my bad. We got the drop of her killer and I just...

Erwin's voice drops

Hellion Firebreaker calms down a bit

10:55PMErwin: ... killed him.

10:55PMHellion Firebreaker: I can't judge you for this. I don't know how I would have acted in those moments...
Did she go peacefully?

10:55PMErwin: It was quick.
And she was avenged. St Cuthbert would be proud.

10:56PMHellion Firebreaker: At least the pain was brief.

Hellion Firebreaker sips some ale

10:56PMErwin: I don't know if I would have been able to do the same if it were you instead of her.
Or Fiona.
I froze when they told me to drop my blade, and then I glazed over when Fiona wouldn't run.

10:57PMHellion Firebreaker: Fiona is headstrong.
Always has been, you won't be able to protect her forever.

10:58PMErwin: I'm not trying to. Just trying to avoid unpleasant fights.
Can't run in against two armed men with a dagger and a whip, let alone an owlbear.

10:59PMHellion Firebreaker: Maybe if I had been there I could have negotiated with them.

10:59PMErwin: Fiona tried.
Steve tried.

11:00PMHellion Firebreaker: Yes, but i had talked wit them earlier, maybe it would have made a difference.

11:00PMErwin: They poisoned you, man. I don't think they were here for a friendly chat.

11:01PMHellion Firebreaker: You sure it wasn't the rat that bite me?

Erwin discreetly pulls out a vial of poison*

11:01PMErwin: This is my evidence.

11:02PMHellion Firebreaker: Wouldn't I have tasted that in the cider they gave me?

Erwin pockets it before anyone else sees

11:02PMErwin: It wouldn't be very good if it you could taste it. Trust me, I've done something like this before.

11:03PMHellion Firebreaker: And then Steve decided to leave.
Think he went to next town over? He didn't say a word.

11:04PMErwin: I don't expect to see him again at any rate. shrugs At least the cleric is sticking this out.

11:05PMHellion Firebreaker: Steve was there with us at the beginning though. Its sad to see him go.
The original group feels like its falling apart, and while I like these newcomers, I don't know. It just hurts everytime we lose someone.

11:06PMErwin: It always will. Especially when you're close to someone.

11:06PMHellion Firebreaker: takes another drink

11:06PMErwin: I don't know why he left, but I think its for the best. I want people I can trust by my side to protect the group and work together. If he left then clearly he's seeking something else.

11:07PMHellion Firebreaker: Maybe he went ahead to find information from Barrelsfield (I think thats town name)

11:07PMErwin: (idr)

11:07PMHellion Firebreaker: (I didn't keep any notes but i can check logs)

11:08PMErwin: (Bramblesomething?)
Its possible. Would have made more sense to tell us though.

11:09PMHellion Firebreaker: its easier for one person to get information without attracting attention though.

11:09PMErwin: True.

Erwin pulls out Sevan's dagger and just stares at it for a bit

11:09PMHellion Firebreaker: Still your right, if that was his intention, he would announce it I imagine.

11:10PMErwin: No use thinking on it now. Best look to those who remain.

11:10PMHellion Firebreaker: So do you think we should go examine those mines now?
Maybe we find more information there. Those two seemed intent to go there.
Or maybe that was a trap for us.

Erwin thinks for a moment

11:11PMErwin: I think if it were a trap, they wouldn't have had the need to tail us to the woodcutters?
Though it does raise the question of who is at the mines.

11:12PMHellion Firebreaker: They might have thought we wouldn't go to the mines.
Then they saw the opportunity.

11:12PMErwin: I think we should investigate the mines, then. Maybe more stealthy this time, stick together.

11:13PMHellion Firebreaker: Perhaps you and Achan could move in ahead, take Houndour with you.
The rest of us will follow you from safe distance.

11:13PMErwin: There's wisdom in that.
I, uh, would prefer to risk fewer lives though, just in case.

11:14PMHellion Firebreaker: Houndour can protect you two if something happens.

11:14PMErwin: If you have to leave me, do it.
takes a drink

11:14PMHellion Firebreaker: That won't come to blows friend.

11:14PMErwin: Well if something goes wrong, don't feel obligated to save me if the others need you.

11:14PMHellion Firebreaker: Its more than likely no battle is waiting for us at the mines.
Perhaps in case we should get some armor for Houndour though?

11:15PMErwin: That'd be smart.
How much do you need?

11:15PMHellion Firebreaker: I am a little low on gold right now.
(need to check cs)

11:16PMErwin: (same)
I also want to avenge Aylin sometime. When we're stronger.

11:16PMHellion Firebreaker: I have 6gp

11:16PMErwin: Its stupid, I know.

11:16PMHellion Firebreaker: I believe we need 20gp in total.
We will get that beast. But we can't rush that battle.

11:17PMErwin: I know. Just hate leaving something undone.
No way I was letting Sevan get away if I could track him.

Erwin gives Hellion 14 gp

11:18PMErwin: That should make up the difference.

11:18PMHellion Firebreaker: Thanks man.

Hellion Firebreaker takes the gold and puts in his pocket

11:18PMHellion Firebreaker: Before we go, ill get Houndour some armor.

11:18PMErwin: Good call.
Do you want her holy symbol too?
We can always bury it with her if you prefer.

11:18PMHellion Firebreaker: Yeah.
it will be a good reminder.
Of what we are fighting for.

Erwin gives a sad smile

Hellion Firebreaker takes the holy symbol

11:19PMErwin: I have a, uh, different reminder.
Need to be stronger for the group.

11:21PMHellion Firebreaker: We both do.
(I am going to post that I am adding leather and subtracting the gold from my cs and putting it on houndour)

11:21PMErwin: (I just made a post :P)
True. I forget that this isn't a one-man show at times. Fiona reminded me I'll need to rely on you all as well.

11:27PMHellion Firebreaker: Well, I am not so much to rely on. Truth be told, I think Houndour is a far better asset to our group.
I am lucky to have her.

11:28PMErwin: You're an asset. We needed your healing abilities the other day, and we'll all work to become stronger together.

11:28PMHellion Firebreaker: (how much does ayart holy symbol weigh?)

11:28PMErwin: (nothing iirc)
(yeah, it was a wooden holy symbol, thus weights nothing)

11:30PMHellion Firebreaker: My mentor always told me that I had as much proficiency with druidism as a squirrel had with flying.

11:31PMErwin: Aren't there some squirrels that fly?

11:32PMHellion Firebreaker: Well they don't fly, its more akin to gliding.
Falling very slowly.

11:32PMErwin: My point stands. Sure, most squirrels can't fly. But some can glide, and they're remembered as flying squirrels.
And you and I have been through enough crap to know that you're no average squirrel. Druid. You know what I mean.

Erwin drinks

11:33PMHellion Firebreaker: Ha, I guess so.

Hellion Firebreaker takes a drink

11:35PMErwin: That reminds me. What do you think of the silent fellow, Achan?
Reserved would be a better word.

11:43PMHellion Firebreaker: He seems a bit distant.
Maybe has some good instincts, didn't seem to trust those two.
Speaking of which, you have really stepped up after Owlbear, really turning into a fine leader.

11:44PMErwin: Yeah, it might be wise to consult him from now on. I was too busy focusing on solving the barrel issue.

Erwin takes a drink

11:45PMErwin: I don't mean to be a leader, but someone had to step up after the owlbear fiasco. Thanks though.

I enjoyed our session, giga.
Erwin's talked with almost everyone now.

Also should we figure out who'll be here Sunday or not?

I think you did fine - it takes two to talk and I was fairly distracted last night.

There were a couple things you said that I thought were well-founded for your character - the taking notes about your search for your father and the sketches of orcs in her journal.
And the 'what do I do with the pages about Ayarte' hit home for me.

Yeah, you two and Achan arrived on 4/9.
I only know the date because that was the date of the OWLBEAR GRUDGE MATCH.

Also given I'm THE BAKER OVER MAFIASCUM I approve opening a bakery in Barrelsford.
This is our front for our adventuring guild.

edit2: How much does a mule cost? And do you have animal handling? Because a mule carrying all our junk/loot/etc would be great. Or a cart.

So do we actually have a mule/cart now for carrying purposes?

Otherwise I'm going to leave some stuff behind with Fiona since I don't want to hit Medium capacity.

Aren't you broke though, Fire?
I know Ayarte's stuff is somewhat pooled but we don't really have a common pot for shared expenses.

I mean Fire and I pooled to buy Houndour some armor.

Yeaaaaah no.

The other option I thought of was if, when we split money, we create a "Party Fund" and put money into it for shared resources like a cart/torches/food etc.
So if we get 70 gold, we split it six ways for each PC, and then a seventh portion for the party fund.

I mean that's also boring but I don't like the burden being placed on the richest player.

Spoiler: Group Carrying Capacity
[Hellion, Achan, Lin]: 20/40/60
Erwin: 23/26/70
Raia: 76/153/230

(L/M/H)

Spoiler: Current Weight
Hellion: 32/40 (M)
Achan: 20/20 (L)
Lin: 19/20 (L)
Erwin: 41.3/47 (M)
Raia: 144/153 (M)

Spoiler: Thoughts
This party is a team of lightweights, holy crap.
Lin/Hellion/Achan are all at capacities on their own gear. I'm way overboard for a fight but dropping my BP is a free action in combat so that doesn't trouble me too much.

Cart/wagon likely won't work well in the mines.
Houndour has 66/133/200 capacity if we want to use that.

I believe dropping backpacks would take me and Raia back down to Light, but then they're unprotected etc.

I think I've finalized my L2 build. I retooled some skills, and added the relevant bonuses from miscellaneous places.
Reworked my carrying capacity so all the important stuff is on my person and if my bag is lost I only lose the supplies, not the valuables.

I might buy a crossbow (repeating?) later if I feel like I need better ranged options.

What is Grace and/or how do you get it?
Also I have sneak-attacked zero times so I'm a really crappy Rogue and am wondering if Assassin is right for me since I'm basically a skillmonkey fighter at this point.
Hence my desire to find another PRC that might fit better with what I'm doing.

I picked them up in the rubble after the last fight.

I planned for Rogue5/Assassin2/SD1, but I'm not sure if that's feasible/what I want to be doing.
Hence openness to consider other PRCs.

I'm still set for the original path but if there's another option that fits my build better than great.

When we enter new towns our party would like to know if there are fine restaurants/eateries.

Erwin is also interested in finding a social hall or something that hosts dancing.

You haven't angered everyone. I mean giga said Raia is designed to combat CN character so of course there's going to be tension.

Fire, you and I should definitely do a 2-man scene for the Hellion-is-mad-at-Erwin thing that needs resolving.
No one else is required but at the very least you and I should address this sometime.

LOOT:
" a magical ring, 200 gold, a small bluish gem, and his ruined armor" and a longsword the "longsword is glowing slightly"
You find 3 broken pieces of vials, = potion vials

Splitting 200 gold six ways (excluding myself) yields 33.33 per person.

To Identify:
Magical Ring
Glowing Longsword

Appraise(?):
Blueish Gem

The Broken Armor can maybe be sold as scrap(?).

So I'm definitely going to want my backpack if we do a RP session.
Namely for the bottle of wine I have in there.

We have a plan to recover it (and the other stuff we left behind), so maybe I can convince FG to let us try?

I don't see a scenario where we don't camp out in the cave landing for the night.

Sure FG and the experienced players have been like YOURE GOING TO CAMP AT THE BASE?!? but if we press on without spells/etc and we get into a fight (even if its not the fight that almost TPK'd the "experienced" team) we're going to have a hard time. I'm also wondering how much of the cave landing can be seen from the surface, since someone (a troll?) could technically look down and see someone if we're just standing around. Maybe it would be best to move over into a corner on the raised platform (the one I pointed out earlier) to avoid being seen and having another fight. Pressing on immediately is a bad idea given we're simply unprepared.

We can't climb back up unless we know the trolls are gone, and if we send someone up there (needs darkvision at night) and if there are trolls that person's in for a world of hurt given that they can smell us and are willing to pursue the party into the hole via jumping. Even if we send Merlot FG has said 1-2 trolls would follow after the rat down the hole, so we'd still need to be prepared for a fight, which would be easier since they'd fall down 100ft and be weakened, but they also just got fed above-ground. For the record, we also have the same problem if we go up during the day, with the only difference being we can see the trolls as opposed to fighting in the dark at night.

If we stay down here for the night, we regain spells and HP via sleep and the wand, but what WOULDN"T we recoup overnight? Besides Sigma's health. In my mind this basically determines if we press on in the cave or turn back to return to town to resupply/etc.

I think Rikadin is simply a neutral party who doesn't have any ill will towards us. She could have simply attacked us or had more trolls try and kill us but she seemed very disinterested in our existence and went her own way. Honestly, I think the biggest thing we lost out on was a guide who knows the cave tunnels down here, and if we don't press on immediately we likely won't catch up to her.

"We can do this" whirred Sigma as she turned and stopped a charging troll fully in its tracks. "Focus down the other one!" She yelled.

FakeGod (18:59)
As the enraged troll jumped down from the ledge, Hellion ducked and got out of the way, as Raia pulled out some flour and threw it at the beast. "Get back, you monster!" Raia yelled, as she motioned to Achan for the torch.

FakeGod (19:00)
"RAAAAWWRRRR?" the beast didn't understand why it was suddenly covered in strange white powdery substance. Its primitive brain may have eventually figured out its purpose, had it suddenly wasn't stressed with a new problem: fire.

FakeGod (19:01)
Achan tumbled under the troll's meaty fists and ended up behind it before igniting the flour. The troll yelped loudly as its most hated foe begin to burn away at its flesh. Its maddening scream was almost deafening.

FakeGod (19:02)
"Hurry!" Achan yelled, as he withdrew. Erwin stepped up. He knew that it was his turn to face the beast, but Fiona grabbed his arm. "Don't go, Erwin." she plead, "I can't lose you!"

FakeGod (19:04)
Erwin shook his head, and mumbled, "I can't lose you either." Erwin ran straight at the beast, knowing that it would try to swing his arms down to beat him to a pulp. Just when the blows came, he leapt into midair, right over the blows.

FakeGod (19:05)
The look of surprise came over the troll's face, as it blinked couple of times at Erwin and his blade as they made contact with its face. "DIE!" yelled Erwin as he stabbed the troll straight between the eyes. The troll's eyes rolled over, and the beast fell, with any attempt at regeneration being stopped by the flames.

FakeGod (19:06)
"Good work, guys! I knew you can do it-" congratulations were cut off as the troll Sigma was wrestling with finally gained an upper hand. It grabbed both of Sigma's arms and violently ripped them with a sickening crunch.

FakeGod (19:08)
Sigma's unmoving body collapsed near the rest of the party. "D- D- Don't wo- worry about m- me." stammered Sigma. "You ca- can do it! I- I believe in y- y-"

FakeGod (19:18)
"DAMAGE CRITICAL. SYSTEM SHUTDOWN." Sigma stood still.

Spoiler: As Promised
Two figures stand at the edge of a bluff, overlooking a view of the mortal plane below. A wolf stands next to a man clothed in white, save for a notable red bandana around his neck, peeking out from under a white collared shirt. The man speaks in a low voice.

"You know, we had plans to go dancing." Houndour looks up at Erwin expectantly.

Erwin sighs, looking down at his hands, no longer soaked in blood, no longer worn after years in the streets. "I didn't want to wait - this group has been surrounded by death from the beginning. I knew, knew if I waited to ask her…" he pauses, looking down at the dog. "It'd be too late and one of us wouldn't make it."

Houndour nuzzles against Erwin's leg but is silent.

Erwin ran a hand through his hair. "We didn't even get that chance."

"You did a fine job leading them."

Erwin turns, to see Aylin and Ayarte standing next to him, joining him in gazing down at the party below. Growlithe snuggled in Ayarte's arms, licking her face excitedly.

"I failed to keep them safe. That thing took Fiona down. Achan ran. Who knows what happened to the others who didn't join us?"

Aylin shrugged. "You found a warrior's death. That much is to be proud of. Even if you didn't avenge me, you did a good job leading The Order of The Cart after my death."

Growlithe purred in Ayarte's arms. "And my death was not your fault." the paladin chimed in.

"I suppose not. Still. I feel like I was finally righting the wrongs I'd inflicted on the world. We were doing good work."

Ayarte smiled. "They'll be fine without you. Hellion will take care of them. I'm sure of it. His heart's in the right place."

"I'm not the only one who cared for another member of the party." Erwin chuckled.

Ayarte looked down at the wolves. "It would have been nice to get to know him."

"If only we had more time." Aylin said, stretching her arms. "I could use a good fight right about now."

Erwin looked puzzled. "Don't you have all the time in the world up here? Whatever plane this is."

"The point of the afterlife, dear brother, isn't to fight."

Erwin spun around to see his younger brother, wearing simple clothes and a baker's apron. His arms were covered in flour.

"J-Jason?"

"In the flesh." Jason smiled. "Well, sort of. But that's not important. It's been a long time, brother. Come on over to our place, the bread's almost done."

"I-I" Erwin stammered. "This is a lot to process."

"Well, we've got all the time in the world. Gather your thoughts and meet me at the bakery. You can't miss it. It looks just like dad's old place." Jason approached his older brother and hugged him, arms covered in flour. "Don't be late now, eh? We've not missed a dinner together in years." He smiled and turned, and Aylin followed after him.

Ayarte cast one last glance below, no doubt looking for Raia and Hellion, before smiling and following after the others with Growlithe.

Erwin and Houndour lingered for a moment, the former staring down towards the mortal plane below, tears running down his face.

"I don't want an eternity here without you, Fiona." Erwin said quietly. "I lov-" he stops himself. "…I'll be waiting for that dance." He wiped his eyes with the red bandana and turned to join the others. "Come on, Houndour. Dinner's on the house tonight."

Houndour barked excitedly at his side.

If I could draw this scene, Houndour is at Erwin's side, Aylin is standing there looking proud and tall, and Ayarte's holding Growlithe who's cuddled against her, licking her face.

One of my concerns was that Jason literally does all the talking, but given I'd probably be speechless if/when I meet my dead brother in a heaven scenario, then Erwin would be as well.

Growlithe seemed more like a cuddler than Houndour, and Houndour never met Ayarte.

Aylin seemed to be TRUE WARRIOR so I ran with it.

So I'd like to take a moment and talk about last session - the fight where half the party abandoned the other half.

I originally wasn't going to say anything, but FG was like 'have you guys talked to ether and postie yet' and I only now realized that sorting this out might be a good idea for the health of the group.

Ether, we're always in danger. Rose sitting out only makes fights worse without the CC. Rose showed up to the fight and the tables turned.
Postie, Achan running off in the middle of the fight for an unknown reason put all of us in danger because we lost THE biggest melee damage dealer AND our best tank via AC since Sigma was absent.

I understand that you might be concerned about your character, but maybe consider what it would be like if YOU were the one bleeding out on the ground while half the party abandoned you. Because it could have been much worse than Erwin dying. When I left the game early to get on the road, Fiona was bleeding out on the ground, and Hellion and Growlithe were alone against a boss, alone and likely facing a TPK. Which no one wants to be part of.

I am fine having Erwin die in our party of three, trying to save his best friend and the woman he loves because I did everything I could.
I'm ok losing a character if I make a poor decision or take a risk that doesn't pay off. That's 100% on me.
I'm NOT ok with Erwin dying in a party of five where two people chose to be non-combatants and leave everyone else to die.

Now I'm still interested in playing the campaign and I'm trying to design a new character since we might be too early for resurrection and I personally dislike the concept, but I'd like to know if I should expect more of the same going forward. Because I can't be an effective front-liner without support, and I can't be an effective back-liner if the front-line runs away in a fight. Maybe we need to have a talk about if we still play if we're missing people, given this seems to be a recurring trend and the reason Ether didn't want to play given Sigma was MIA.

I'd rather you have asked and/or bit the bullet and ran in than sitting there.
I mean whatever Rose would do she'd do but the whole situation was bad to worse without you and:
In post 706, Ether wrote:FakeGod asked, "To get Rose?"
I'd bet that this was FG trying to save us by allowing you to show up since you hadn't asked if you could.
This is just idle speculation though. It wouldn't be the first time he's nudged us into/away from death.

I don't recall the decision being made because of what Rose would do - Ether was concerned about undead and I thought it was Ether didn't want to play without Dunn, not because
Rose
thought ABC.
In post 711, MariaR wrote:No Dunn it's not that at all I don't mind the fact that Sigma is strong it's great really! I don't like that if you're not here we're basically having a huge huge fallback and I want to try and get us stronger to get on your level.
Basically this.
I'm more irritated with the fact that YOU [Dunn] not being here is the #1 reason why we consider not playing. That's bull - we should have a decent enough party to run without any two people most days. We've never had a problem with it before since we KNOW we're at a disadvantage and can plan accordingly. Fortunately its never been a problem before last session because you've [Dunn] always been here.

And me making a Support Cleric is not the answer to a stronger party if you [Dunn] can't make a session.
The answer is something only a blade can provide.

So, yes, we need a cleric.
But we also need someone who can do some/most/all of the combat roles Sigma provides in the event that you miss another session.
In post 714, Firebringer wrote:honestly the more i think about it I REALLY THINK she should have given us a heads up on this that she was planning to develop her character this way so we don't just go "WTF is going on", because it literally happened out of nowhere. I get she was doing her character development but it kind of developed out of thin air, one minute Achan charges into battle recklessly and the next she starts running when things go sour.
You worded this perfectly. If we KNEW we couldn't trust Achan then I'd literally play as if we were one party member down at all times, and there was no way I'd support a 3-man party in what is supposed to be a 7-person campaign. The false pretense of having an extra character hurt us since we didn't know charge-headlong-into-four-berserkers-Achan would go 100% coward.

When would you all be available to do this, because I'm sure my fellow west-coasters would enjoy not waking up at six if it can be helped.

In post 724, Postie wrote:I did mention to you guys just after the troll fight ended that Achan had grown distant from the rest of the party and valued saving Allea above all else.
I do remember this.
But if Achan's "growing distant from the rest of the party" why is he with us to begin with? Do you intend to do anything to "fix" his distance or is that all on us to try and engage with him? Because most of our attempts so far haven't gone well to get to know him. I get that he's supposed to be a douchebag type, but if he's not a team player then why is he here?

I just want to understand what our expectations are and what our characters are doing so I don't have to lose another PC because half the party left the other half out to dry.

With that being said, what do you intend his character to be? Because if we KNOW he's more of the scouting type or only fights when he's comfortable we have an advantage (when does this ever happen) then we need to know. And if that means asking you [Postie] what Achan is doing because talking to Achan directly results in a run-around of sorts then so be it.

My bottom line is I don't want to lose another character because we're unclear of the expectations we have of other players/PCs in the party. We're a party. The players need to understand each other and the PCs need to act like a party as well or this will
continue
to go poorly.
In post 724, Postie wrote:Achan also specifically said that he wanted to leave at the first sign of trouble.
I also remember this. But I don't think it ever came up again.
When we talked out the fight in Skype and in chat ('we're staying and fighting', 'get in the alley', 'move into the building') I can't recall any discussion about 'hey we should leave' or Achan going "Guys we should run".
So when he just took off it was like "well ok then".

I can do the session at a different time this week, if we're going to continue this discussion from Skype.

Assuming no one wants all the MW Armor/Weapons, those should probably be sold.
I mean, the MW Light Mace would be good to have on someone as an alt damage type since IIRC both Sigma/Sedgar both are running slashing weapons.
I'd take the MW Bastard Sword but the non-MW Greatsword still out-damages it and I can just buy a MW Greatsword for ~300. The +1 to hit is nothing to laugh at though.

Ring of Deflection is just +1 AC so we should really just give that to someone who sees a lot of combat.
IIRC Sigma and Achan both have 19.
Fullplate Sedgar would have 18.
Everyone else is somewhere in the 14-16 range except Hellion's who's at 12 (?).
+1 Shadow Chain Shirt for Achan since he's the only one Hiding most of the time (?).

Unless Ether and I talk out a Cleric/Wizard I don't think I'll need much/anything from this besides cash.

I'll probably take Erwin's gloves since that's both a +1 Reflex and +1 DEX bonus to AC and I don't currently have a DEX bonus to AC so that'd help squeeze it out. We don't have anyone else with Finesse so no one needs it for damage since Achan already has a pair (?).

Fiona has no DEX bonus to AC and is wearing the best armor in terms of AC from armor.
Hellion has no DEX bonus to AC and is wearing the best druid-friendly armor for AC.
+Which doesn't matter as much since he'll be wildshaping at L5 anyway.

Achan's CS isn't updated (???).
He has magic gloves which we know are DEX +2 which gives him another DEX to AC which puts his AC at TWENTY making him have the highest AC of the party currently.

Sigma has 19 AC but can't do new armor (?). So she'd need other items to enhance it like the Ring of Protection.
Rose is at 18 with Erwin's Gloves.
Sedgar is at 14 (18 with full plate). There's room to squeeze in a few extra points from other things.

As far as Erwin's loot is concerned:

+I'm taking his money. That's the simplest solution.
+Fiona can probably take his Mithril Chain Shirt since its slightly better than what she's wearing and no one else can benefit from it.
+Erwin has two Rapiers if anyone can use them and/or wants them. One of them is MW and the other is silver. And two daggers but those are outclassed in terms of damage so they're more utility.
+MW Thieves' Tools go to Achan. That's literally the only thing I care to give him since no one else can make use of it.
+DEX Gloves go to who ever can afford the DEX bonus in terms of armor and/or need the DEX bonus.
+Poison can go to anyone. If no one wants it Sedgar will hold it if only to prevent its usage until we can dispose of it because :paladinlife:.

Spoiler: For FG
[1:42:55 PM] Andrius: I mean Sedgar'd probably be all over the justice and 'pls no don't witch hunt' and solve these petty quabbles. But I imagine he's pretty isolated from everyone and only really followed to make sure you guys made it back safely and got treated.
[1:43:03 PM] Andrius: So it depends on how you all intereact with him i guess
[1:43:22 PM] Ether: Wait. Is he actually with our group? I assumed he was going to show up independently and join up.
[1:43:43 PM] Andrius: well since i wasn't there it doesn't really matter
[1:43:55 PM] Andrius: guess ill just show up next session/RP session at the bar and we can work it out
[1:44:07 PM] Ether: You could probably even get FakeGod to give you a solo session for Sedgar's entry to Raintree if you asked, his schedule is pretty free over the summer.
[1:44:42 PM] Ether: And having you Detect Evil all over the place would be pretty convenient.
[1:47:13 PM] Andrius: id just macro SENSE MOTIVE/DETECT EVIL on everyone
[1:47:19 PM] Ether: Good.
[1:47:32 PM] Andrius: Yeah maybe this could be a thing.

I'm selling these along with Erwin's Rapiers.

I need some cash for Erwin's solo session and it just benefits the group anyway.

Sedgar didn't die and is close to L4!

I failed pretty much every Search/Spot/Listen check in the entire session but MAN I can kill things good.
FG is great for doing this and Ether and I had a blast.

Nothing. I have 25 gp which gets me nowhere.
1500 I might get the Cloak of Resistance thing. Oh, maybe CI MW GS but hat's really it.

I have MW Full Plate.
I have a MW GS. Not CI. I'm holding 8 CI Longswords though.
I bought MW Manacles with the best lock available.

No other needs. Just wants.

I did.

FG, a minor note. I don't necessarily want to stall out the game in a session but I *do* have this bag of likely stolen jewels/etc I recovered from the Solo Session. I'd be primarily interested in seeing if a town authority can deliver them to inhabitants who've been robbed. Secondly interested in, like, using the proceeds to feed starving children or something productive. If we want to make this a big deal then great, but I'm fine just being like "I give them to the town guard who will find their owners" and calling it a day.

Would anyone be interested in doing regular RP Sessions again? Even if its just a couple people interested, it'd go miles towards RP/character development.

I realize that we simply don't have time for any character-driven stuff or character development during a session (which is fine given constraints on time, FG, and session length) but I don't care about my character and that's a problem.

I mean, we don't need EVERYONE online at once.
We had that one week where I had separate sessions with FB and giggles since we couldn't organize a time for everyone.

PFE over Cloak then.
If party funds are paying for that then that saves me money.

And if I go Cloak I might as well just go WIS +2 for a Cloak Bonus and other boons.

If Trollsbane is available I'll take that. Otherwise need to consider better weapons.

I don't know context but Feat Rogue does give feats/skills. Fighter 3 only preserves BAB but I *think* you have a 'free' level from the Cleric Dip.

Speaking of the session, would it be possible to do Saturday night instead at our 'normal' Saturday night time?

I cannot guarantee I'll make the Sunday time given a late-night commitment I will not miss. If we can't then I'll see about making it anyway, I will be sleep-deprived though.

p.s. Since I'm taking Gundabog's Blade, Dunn, I'm giving you my MW CIGS.
