I did this during the early level zones pretty consistently. From 15 on I found it really effective to take a vanilla WoW strat of leveling in two zones for each level zone (example: Kessex and wildlands at the same time), bouncing back and forth a bit throwing some story quests in when you can. Only now in frostgorge am I actually having issues keeping up because fuck Orr. Yeah, I said it.
WvW is crazy exp too.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~- Flameaxe

A) I'm having trouble getting motivated to play myThief, Engineer, or Elementalist. What I really want, is a class that has really good staying power, mobility, and high single-target DPS. Maybe Warrior?
B) I'd enjoy being part of a guild that actually did things while I was around.

Leveling in edge of the mists is pretty quick. You get a ton of gear too.
I started enjoying this game a ton more once I realized how much fun wvw is. Living story season 2 is pretty great too. Only other pve I'm touching is world bosses, but if you guys feel like dungeons id probably tag along. I'll find my tag when I'm home later.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~- Flameaxe

Edge of the mists is basically wvw but with shorter matches (like 3 hours). Still hop in hop out, just tough to catch the Zerg sometimes.
Necros are fine, but I deflect necro questions to Zito. Warriors feel a bit like "take face, hit keyboard, roll around".
I've become addicted to guardian gameplay though. Running hammer/scepter+focus in pvp has been a blast.Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~- Flameaxe

I played a bunch of thief, and honestly the combat itself is pretty bleh. Thief's strength comes from mobility, which unfortunately doesn't come into play all that much during solo play. Make sure your 2nd weapon set is always shortbow and you're set. Most of the other thief builds are about equal though. Any build with pistol main hand isn't terribly strong right now. P/P is pretty strong single target, but and dagger offhand stealth build will blow it out of the water.
But mostly: Play whatever combo feels fun!Defined by who I dislike, not who I like~ - Flameaxe
