Fiji - 4.1/10 - it seemed decent and all but didn't move me at all.
Federated States of Micronesia - 5.2/10 - The lyrics weren't something i could really enjoy. The playing was also sort of virtuoso-oriented in parts, right in the middle of a song that's apparently meant to be emotional? The two just mixed badly and I feel like the song would have been a couple points better if not for this weird clash in style.
Japan - 1.5/10 - unfortunately not a huge fan of this style, or the way this was executed.
Libya - 7.3/10 - aww yiss (@wgeurts - the secret is to close your eyes and miscellaneously bob and shake your head while intermittently going "mmhmm! yeah! awwww yee! hAAA!"
Central African Republic - 8.3/10 - really good. wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the winner.
Hong Kong - doesn't play for me but U CAN ALSO BUY DA SONG ON ITUNES!!
Sweden - 3/10 - could be worse, but could also be much, much better
Taiwan - 1/10 - str8 up h8 this m8
Syria - 3.2/10 - screaming was weak, and the singer's voice isn't really good enough for the bone-chilling clean vocals he's going for. the music is also really over-produced.
Spain - 4.5/10 - i mean i don't like it much but they at least hit the mark with the style they're going for. bonus marks for being good at what they want to be good at, even if it isn't my thing
Australia - 1/10 - sigh

Western Sahara - 7.2/10 - pretty good tbh
USA - 2/10
Uruguay - 1/10 - inoffensive and generic modern happy go lucky music
Hungary - 1/10 - inoffensive and generic modern happy go lucky music
Slovenia - 4.6/10 - not bad, takes itself a bit seriously though
Serbia - 7.5/10 - not my style but you know what, she can sing, the instrumentation fits the music, and there's a point to be made about the fact we mass-produce cheap shitty clothing using slave labour in 3rd world countries. so, viva la sewing machines!

Canada - 7.1/10 - neurotic and schizophrenic feeling. i liked it
Seychelles - 6.8/10 - decent hip-hop track
Nicaragua - 7.6/10 - done really well, it's just all around good. i enjoyed it quite a lot
Chad - 6.3/10 - dance music done well. the genre itself isn't my thing and there's some stuff by the Glitch Mob that i'd prefer to this, but this is still pretty good
Australia#2 - 4.4/10 - not bad, does its style well enough although the kind of genre doesn't strike me. the video was funny though
Lithuania - 4.3/10 - it's alright, i guess.
Italy - 2/10 - it's like if you took good funk music and removed all the musically authentic and soulful elements of funk and replaced it with stuff deliberately aimed at making the top40 charts instead
Bhutan - 3.5/10 - i mean there's nothing really wrong with it but i kinda just lost interest about 1 minute in. the drumming is surface-level good but doesn't compliment the song at all. i can't tell whether to focus on the very prominent voice (it's mixed to be loud and penetrating over the top of the music) or the rhythm in the background. the elements to the song are just really combined, even though all the parts are all fine in isolation i think.

WHEW. time to compile the top10. this contest was better than the last overall imo, there was some songs i just really didn't like here but also some pretty good stuff.

Actually the more i listen to Slovenia the more i'm actually pretty impressed by this singing despite the fact that initially the song itself felt a bit cliche and uninspired

couldn't give it to anything but john lennon tbh, the more listens on the songs the more its superiority is solidified. i think steel and glass will win (it should anyway)
