Mini props up her girlfriend's wretched, half-limp body between one arm and the doorframe as she fumbles at unlocking the way back into her apartment. Tears of exhausted hysteria drip down from nancy's cheeks onto the green and blue polkadotted top that Mini chose for the day. The hinges swing inward upon the click of tumblers and Mini is nearly thrown off her feet as the weight of her momentum and the burden she carries takes her into the living room, onto the flat sofa, all knees and elbows, where nancy shudders into a heap of clothes. The girl forms a ball with her body and drools senselessly into her thick, dark curls.

"nancy, sweetie," Mini croons as she fits the door back into its resting place with a neat click, "I'll make you some tea, okay?"
"They are fucking ruined," nancy howls through her snot and saliva and thrusts the sad, vinegary evidence out beyond the edge of the sofa. The odor brings open nancy's eyes. "Mini, just look at them, my shoes are

."

She sits up to tear the soiled flats from her feet with a low shriek and hurls them away from her to gather in their stench with the forgotten corners of the unclean apartment; the living room and dining room plus kitchen one large space unseparated by a dividing wall, the hallway to the bedroom and bathroom, the bedroom, the bathroom, four windows, three doors, a closet, a bed and a bathtub. And the outside noise.
