Description:

It was a time of frenetic optimism and plenty, though destined to end in the gritty, grey gloom of The Great Depression. Art Deco celebrated the Machine Age, and its aesthetics repudiated the organic flow of late 19th Century Art Nouveau. Though as overdone and decadent as the time period that inspired it, the art survives in period architecture, sculpture, and graphics to this day.
