I'm pretty pumped though. This will be my first gen where I'm going in with a complete living dex. It will be real nice to just be able to start up immediately with the new ones.

Almost here. I've already mapped out all the Pokemon I need for my various Living Dex obsessive demands. A shiny finally makes the list since Shiny Minior is basically the same as the other alternate Minior cores.

It's been over a decade since any Pokemon game made me feel this way. I've gotten used to my thoughts upon starting a new game being "What are my rules for this challenge? What are the ideal catches for certain locations? Alright, hope I don't die."

But playing Sun, I feel like a kid in a candy store. I'm exploring areas for the fun of it instead of trying to find items. Whenever I see a Pokemon, I immediately want to catch it and become giddy upon doing so, even when I have no desire to use that Pokemon in my party. I'm in awe of how far Pokemon games have come. My primary goals are to explore and learn. I haven't felt this way since Colosseum (or Ruby/Sapphire if you want to stick with core games).

So glad I decided against a Nuzlocke first run

It's interesting because my experience has been exactly the opposite. Usually I feel as you do now but because SuMo is the first to come after PokeBank allowed me to really get my Living Dex off the ground I've been all business mapping what I need and where.

Any of you guys have your Moon Ball still and are willing to give/trade it to me? I am trying to stockpile the ball so I can catch the legendary bat in one without needing to reset every 5 minutes.

I have all the other Apricorn balls (Love/Friend/Lure/Fast/Heavy/Level) plus Master which I'll gladly trade. I also have Moon in case you sun guys need anything and I almost have all breedable pokemon in the game.

I'm just having fun dinking around with different Pokemon right now. I am getting MASSIVE enjoyment smashing duders with Wishiwashi right now.

There will be plenty of time for completion, competitive, and much more.

I find it much easier to have fun once I get the chores out of the way. Especially because I can train/evolve my weird gimmick teams (Animorphs themed, Breakfast Cereal, Edgelords) up much quicker and easier when I have access to high level opponents, all the pokemon/items I need to create the team, and player customization options to theme myself to the pokemon team.

Out of curiousity, how did you complete your dex so quickly? Do you have friends trade you the alternate starters and version exclusives, or do you have a bank from previous versions, or what?

I have a bank from a previous version but that doesn't help because you can't transfer any Pokemon in until January.

I did trade but not with friends. Mostly I made good use of the GTS. The trick is to breed your starter as quick as you can, trade those for the other starters, and just spend a whole day breeding starters and trading them for other valuable/rare pokemon and breeding and trading THEM. I found Goomys are basically good as gold on the GTS. Anything short of a legendary I could basically buy wholesale for a Goomy or a Porygon. I also found people will pay well for any of the non-stone Eevolutions, which actually are very easy to get. If you use Poke Pelgo at all you can basically make as many Sylveons as you have eevees.

The legendaries I bought with Goodras. Breed a Goomy or two, trade them for another person's Goomy, slap some lucky eggs on them, hit the grass outside the boat city for a few hours, when they get to 49 fly to Po Town and give them a rare candy, and then put your Goodra up for literally anything and wait 5-10 minutes.

The rooms in XY were great...the first time. The 10th time I'm trying to run through it and have to wait for all the animations to end...not so much.

I FINALLY hatched a shiny Minior and officially have an "Every Form" Living Dex for the new guys. Now once the Bank opens in January all I'll have to do is transfer over and bask in my completeness.

Congrats. After finally hatching my shiny Minior I guess it is finally time for me to get my battle team together and unlock all the passport stamps/throwing styles in the Battle Resort. The BP doesn't even matter since I've made a ton of Pokemon accruing interest in Pokebank since day 1 so I have Scrooge McDuck levels of BP saved up ready to transfer in to buy Megastones. I might buy a Kangaskanite though before then.

Glork's post reminded me: If anyone is having trouble acquiring a particular breedable Pokemon let me know. I can't guarantee good IVs but if it can be bred I can breed it.

If you are trying to catch Pokemon you should have a way to give a status effect anyway, which shuts down SOS.

I am more excited for Gold/Silver on VC so I can finally get HA Legendary Beast Trio for my Living HA Dex.

I don't know if anyone here would be interested, but I now have a Switch and am planning to buy the Nintendo Online Family Plan on November 1st, so if anyone wants to get in on that (It is 35 dollars a year for up to 8 people to use, compared to 20 dollars for an individual) we can all save a bit of money.
