it's not MtG-complex but it's fun and simple enough. deckbuilding with the different FX cards makes it more interesting considering the variety of effects (plus classic card effects such as Demonic Tutor (Searching Within), Pot of Greed (The Depths) and mini Timetwister (the Astro FX card)), although I haven't messed around with that too much. One HMX employee on their launch stream filled their deck with Embrace Chaos FX cards (opp gets -2 points) and kinda rolled everyone so I assume if competitive play takes off anywhere they'd add more deckbuilding rules.

also, allegedly the first draft(s) of the game were Hearthstone-esque; digital ccg where every song had different additional effects. I can see why they'd simplify it, especially if they're appealing to casual board gamers/music game fans. plus the tech is cool and playing with actual cards always feels better

ps - looking for mixes that actually sound okay using the Down With The Sickness wild. The drop is great but I have no idea what else meshes well with it @_@

The game is rather rudimentary, but it's cool enough to keep interest.

I think there were quite a lot of things that worked with Down With The Sickness. The vocal track from Barbara Streisand (Duck Sauce) worked well. At one point we had mixed it with a Bob Marley song too.

Just chiming into say that this isn't nearly as lame as it sounds, if you were like me and gave it a look while condescendingly thinking "thanks reck for this sick ass deal on carcassone, ticket to ride, and catan"

There are some pretty sweet non-mainstream games up for this promo. So like, actually give this a look.

Ooooo! I love when they do this promotion! I've had my eye on Sonar for a while. I love Captain Sonar, but finding 8 people is hard.

FYI - their board game selection is much better online than it typically is in store.

Equinox likes it.

But just know it's campaign based, so limited plays.

Have had it for years. Have all expansions. Game is amazing. The base game will give you 10 different mysteries to play, plus the base set game to play a bunch of online fan mysteries. The expansions also each come with 10-12. There are currently 2 english expansions.

Game's great. 1 v all is fun, playing Mastermin and Protagonist is fun. Replay value if you play as Protag and then you can play as Mastermind for your friends.

It's just a metric shit ton of fun if you like deduction games with cool stories.

I went with Ninja Camp, Dixit, and The Dragon & Flagon for the target B2G1 promotion. All games I've played and liked, but did not own. Was super excited to see Ninja Camp in Target's selections. It's a cute quirky light game. And I know someone that one of the cards is based on. Actually it's his copy I usually play.

So, I'm pretty excited for these :]

I think I seen this on kickstarter.
It has all the detailed miniatures?
Looked like a huge but awesome game.
Enjoy

Yeah, both kickstarters were complete before I got into gaming but I'd super want to play/buy this at some point down the line. I really like the Berserk-esque feel to the art and honestly would probably just play the game solo, mage knight style.

So, gloomhaven is fantastic.

Other than setup taking a while, but it's sort of permanently setup on our kitchen table for the moment, which alleviates that.

The card combat is super interesting, and the mini legacy aspects/choices have been cool so far. Also the characters play fairly differently, so combining that with lots of unlockable characters + battle goals + different enemies means there's so much variety to it.
