Kingmaker: The Game (GAME OVER)

Welcome to Kingmaker!

This is a simple game, but hopefully one with enough strategy to keep you on your toes!

The game starts with any number of players.

Each night, each player casts two votes: one vote for a king, and one vote to execute another player. You may not vote for yourself. If you receive the most votes to become king, the player you voted to execute will die. The distribution of king votes will be revealed, but the players who received them will not -- For example, the day opening post might read:

The king votes were 7-4-2-1. theelkspeaks was executed by the king.

Nothing about the execution votes except the dead player are revealed. Last player standing wins!


However, there are a few additional rules:
The player who was king on a given execution phase may not win king the following phase unless there are 6 or fewer players remaining. All votes cast for the outgoing king will be reported but nullified.
In the event of a tied king vote, the player with more cumulative king votes will become the king. If there is still a tie, all kings will have their executions succeed.
If you receive EXACTLY one king vote in a given night, you receive a PM telling you your total number of cumulative king votes.
If you receive EXACTLY three king votes in a given night, you receive a PM with the names of the players who received each number of king votes that night. The voters are still anonymous.

So how does the day-night cycle work, exactly? How is it useful?

The day phase gives time before voting for the next round begins. Voting occurs during the night phase. (There are no day-based game actions)

I agree, but with this few players left, I think that it's less damaging to the game to send reminder PMs than for someone to have not voted. I'll definitely be seeking feedback on that in the postmortem.

After a rules question was resolved, the votes are in.

The Day 7 King Vote was 1-1-1. JDGA becomes king due to having the highest vote total, eliminating Shrek.

On Day 8, JDGA and mallow are forced to vote for each other, and JDGA has the highest vote total, winning the game!

I'd like to open up the thread to feedback on both the gameplay and the rules:

What were you thinking throughout the game?

How could this game be improved?

Were there any major noticable flaws?

Given that every player having to vote each night is a key part of the game, what's the best way to handle deadlines in a future iteration?

Any other thoughts, comments, and feedback are of course welcome, I just wanted to open up with a few questions to generate feedback with!
