I don't think the aim screw up was intentional. They meant to just make you move slower while aiming with the pulse cannon, and I think they fucked up the code somewhere along the line.

On the plus side Bowcaster is stronger now and A-wings got fixed. Imperials can actually win Fighter Squadron now.

That a wing fix was definitely needed, I very happy about that. Lately I've been using the Cycler Rifle instead of the pulse cannon for long ranged maps. I've never really cared for the bowcaster. By the time I unlocked it they had already ruined it.

The new Cycler Rifle buff was awesome and actually gave me a reason to try out the Sharpshooter trait.

The DLC seems pretty underwhelming imo. I'm still going to see what the people who have 2-week early access think after playing it, but right now I don't see myself getting it.

I dont even have the sharpshooter trait. I've been saving up my credits for the shadow trooper skin, since I should reach Rank 50 soon.

I haven't gotten the season pass yet either, I prob will eventually tho since I don't rlly have any better shooter to play. I just wish the heroes were more exciting. It feels like there are a million options better than nien numb atm.

the loot crates are still semi-frustrating, but after that it doesn't really bother me that much. i like star wars enough to not really care

the hero costs are fine now and overall it's been pretty fun. You can unlock all the weapons and mods for them simply by racking up kills. The star cards are the only thing dependent on loot crates and they did start you off with three abilities for every class/hero no matter what, so it's not too bad playing w/ just the base abilities. Plus you can use crafting parts to just craft the star cards you really want, like I just crafted every single one of Rey's base cards and upgraded a few of them even more than that, granted the parts do only come in crates and from missions, so they can be semi-hard to acquire.

that would be fine for a free to play game

not for a game I have to shell out $60 for

and...your performance doesn't matter that much. only 20% of your credits rewards factor in your kills/game performance.

Oh sure when it's an online game just plunk down 60 dollars, but when it has loot crate micro transactions then we bring out the pitchforks.

I feel like we're never really going to get a true successor to the original Battlefront 2

... and also when are they going to do KOTOR 3? These are important questions! (Actually they probably shouldn't because they would probably ruin it.)

i get that

for me i'm willing to put tons of hours in just for the joy of running around as Rey killing people, so i'm happy to invest the money cause i'll play it a lot until baseball season starts

this game has an offline campaign and an offline arcade mode. i haven't played the campaign yet, so not sure how it is but they at least made a point to try to fix that.

and in terms of a true successor, i honestly feel like this game is a lot closer to the old BF 2 than it's ea predecessor and just overall comparable really. the heroes and other special classes work in a similar way to BF 2 as opposed to the randomness of the first ea game. Plus it's much more class restricted like the old games. You have everything divided into classes as well with abilities and weapons not overlapping much

It had some offline play in the form of the missions. People were a bit upset over the first one though, but I think it's because EA didn't basically go back on their word with any of it. Like for this new one, they said any duplicates you get from crates will be turned into crafting parts, but then they changed it so that you only get credits.

And the heroes getting locked behind a credit wall was a curveball that they never even hinted at. And that's really the thing that gets me. Why on earth did they think it's a good idea to lock the most iconic characters in the franchise like that? Even reduced prices shouldn't be a thing. Plus a leaker alleges that the lowered prices are actually part of a marketing strategy known as "outdating the rage" in which they start out with absurd values then lower them after the backlash to give the appearance that they're listening to feedback. I don't know how much I buy into that theory to be honest, since they actually have listened to feedback in the past (helmetless stormtroopers eventually went away, and every difference between the last game and this one was due to criticisms of the past game).

I would have cancelled my preorder and boycotted too, but my game preloaded so I'm going to play it. As stated above, the actual gameplay IS amazing (I played the beta), I'm just really frustrated with how they've handled heroes in this game. First they decided to do cross-era heroes (I almost decided against getting the game when that was pretty much confirmed because they seemed to ignore how many people were against it), but decided it wasn't that big of a deal and thought there may be some kind of compromise put in the game and that I would personally play in-era heroes only. Then this happened.

It's like, I love the game but not what they're doing to it, if that makes sense.

Probably never. Bioware is all in on this Anthem game, basically (they cut Mass Effect Andromeda follow ups). And they still have to maintain The Old Republic.

I feel like the heroes are fine now tbh
I've earned 20-25k credits in just two days of playing which is enough to buy any hero you want (I've gotten Leia and iden versio so far)
The cross era feels semi necessary? Like rn Kylo is the only first order one and Yoda is pretty much the only prequel one, so w/ no cross era heroes you'd be very limited on non original trilogy maps. Plus they do encourage you using the people in the correct era w/ battle point costs
Plus with the upgrade system it'd be frustrating to upgrade one hero a lot and then be only able to play then 1/3 maps on average.

And then I just really like the way the heroes play now. I feel like the less health, but rechargeable health w/ weaker abilities and attacks encourages more strategic play with the heroes opposed to the old game which often felt more geared towards just charging at the opponent and rapidly killing as many enemies as you could until you died.

See the battle points cost for out-of-era heroes is the kind of compromise I was hoping for. My thing is that we already have to earn points in-game to play as the heroes, why do we have to earn points out-of-game just to get the chance? It's like COD killstreaks where you have to grind to the level to unlock them then earn points to use them, except in COD it's at least single use items that are treated this way and not what are essentially an entire class.

that may be true, but they changed hero costs, so there's a chance this gets a major overhaul? just gotta wait and see

also iden versio is amazing. she has a pulse cannon that charges fast and has infinite uses that is just insane. Got 30 kills w/ her and heavy/specialist on starkiller base which is easily my best number so far on this game. she can be exceptionally good if you just keep your distance on maps.
