persona 5 is good but after watching my husband replay it I think the last 10-20 hours really bury its potential

I'd probably go Odyssey > Horizon > BotW > P5 > PUBG?

Does a game really have to be "groundbreaking" dor it to be GOTY?
Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I think PUBG deserves its praise because it took the battle royal concept that vessels like Minecraft / Roblox have tried and distilled it into a form that can be widely appreciated and enjoyed.

BotW is my game of the year, but mostly because it's the only one I've played #casual. I see it's flaws, but it's also like the perfect experience for me. I'm hyped for when I get Switchrim for Christmas but I'm also like "so you're telling me there's no mini-puzzle dungeons? "

I mean, I would say PUBG is more of the ARMA-style simulation game, whereas H1Z1 is more arcade-style like Call of Duty.

Well, like...it is.

More the point was, Chevre said it revolutionized that battle arena concept, but like h1z1 is the same style and "came out" way prior. I believe there was a thing where Pubg was trying to say Fortnite Battle Arena was stealing there thing and people were like "well you stole H1Z1's thing, and pubg dropped it.

I don't feel multiplayer games should even be considered for GOTY because the primary appeal comes more from other players rather than the game itself

And anyways I don't play any multiplayer games at all especially notnshooters but w/e

Hmmm. It plays like Assassin's Creed, if AC's combat system was actually tactical.

Your character is VERY fragile and the beasts you're fighting feel like beasts. So when you happen upon a nest or encounter, you have to carefully plan it out. Take out the smaller mechs with stealth, then setup traps and an escape route to wound the larger beasts before going in for a kill.

This is not a game where you can just brute force your way through, and it's refreshing. I don't like open world games like this ususally but this one captivated me-- due in no small part to the story, as well.

You can brute force your way through if you play it like dark souls and are really good at dodging.

So for example, when I beat the first boss at the Sigma? cave I just wailed on it and took a hit twice. I used three arrows and the rest with spear. And I only used the arrows when I had a quick shot on the watcher spawns.

But like every singe enemy I have seen is easier to just wack once, crit, dodge, whack once and crit until it's dead.

It's just too easy to prone enemies with prone stick
