Are you saying you think there's no chance that Frogger gets lynched today? If so, it's pretty early to be saying that, don't you think? If not, what are you saying?

An early L-1 is a great way to start the game off. It gets people talking, gets reactions going. Given that the L-1 was made explicitly clear, anyone who quickhammers would scumclaim. What's the downside?
I'm saying I doubt this wagon will provide us with any information than it has already, if any. Frogger isn't gonna react since this wagon wasn't formed with any intent to lynch, also being the one to encourage its formation. FL voting him to L-1 really doesn't mean anything to me, nor do I think it would for anyone else. Keeping him at L-1 has more potential for harm than I see good.

It's hard to explain in words. Most people make a joke or talk about some past game or just naked vote as their first post. Just saying "Hi" feels like you were trying to think of something to insert yourself into the thread with smoothly, which goes along with not voting anyone who was already being voted. Like I said – page one reads. They're just something to get the game moving.[/quote]

To be honest, I didn't pay attention to most of the game; however, I did leave thinking you were a decent endgame player. Early game I honestly don't know how you did. Either way, one game doesn't define your meta, especially if you're self-aware.

I find COA to be the second-most towny player here so I want to see why you think that. I’m not seeing either as forced, let alone super forced.

COA is actually pushing things, even if they are wrong things or dumb things at times. COA is looking at the game from more than one angle. Has considered things others haven’t which I found not only interesting, but town motivated. I’ve commented on one thing specifically and another I haven’t yet.

Skitter is mostly just bland or at best wishy washy commentary and generic questions.
What has she pushed besides me saying "Hi."?

K.

Sephiroth has latched onto some things, and in the absence of substance besides those things, I find scummy. The FL putting Fro99er at L-1, Fro99er asking for a claim, neither of which mean anything to me honestly. Besides those things and posts directed towards him, he's only made reads on those who are generally inactive, which is a pretty easy position to take. I can agree to an extent that he had his back up against a wall, and defensiveness isn't exclusively scummy, not in this case I feel, but with nothing else of substance I can't find any reason to townread him. He's burnt out, the wagon died, I maintain a SR but willing to look elsewhere in the meantime.

Last night I thought about pursuing Clusk, because all I remembered was some pretty passionate sheeping and pocketing vibes. Then Wrangle came in with some expansive reads and an attitude to interact. I'm still confused about all of these logical pushes that came from CoA (I honestly can't find one besides the one on me, and that makes me weary since Fro99er said the same thing, it might be some subconscious sheeping), but I can find agreement with CoA being so "out there". Already had a TR on Fro99er for his tone and his compassionate interaction in the game, though I wouldn't define his early game as scummy. I can't disagree with what he's about me and my lack of read fluidity. Still hesitant to give him a TR because of his predecessor, whom despite only having 4 posts really pinged me while I thought of him overnight, and there are things in his reads which I feel could easily be fabricated.

Still stand with what I said about CoA. Don't see her pushes, and the logic behind said pushes. Her 364 has made me weary of Stitch though.

I'll explore skitter and the meta-case a bit later. I usually just skip over meta cases of that depth, but if it's supposedly good I'll take a looksy. One thing that stood out is that in 274 he claims Sephiroth as her strongest TR for his play in general, but voted Sephiroth in RVS and parked until post 163. Not something I find particularly scummy, but I want to know why she kept her vote for so long if Sephiroth's play in general read as town.

I'm not conforming my play to bad play here

on Mafia universe I'm townread almost every game for my play, regardless of allignment, and towns have about a 10% higher winrate there and they don't use as many power roles

It's not a coincidence
Are you saying this exact same play of yours does better on Mafia Universe?

I don't understand why you would blow up like this. This honestly makes me feel it too scummy to be scum, but this has reached a level past THAT. This thing with an alt you keep bringing up makes no sense either. I thought you just wanted to try a different approach to the game.

If I'm interacting in real-time (especially under pressure) I'm like never scum. If it looks like I'm lurking, I'm scum. If I post just before the prod-timer, I'm scum. You know this, and I'm having a really, really hard time believing that *you* bought the meta case Frogger was pushing.

I still don't get what you're seeing in Transcend.
I really hate when people talk about their own meta with such self-awareness. If you're so aware, you'd take every measure to avoid doing it again.

Okay, but if you are scum and this is such an obvious and prominent tell, you're not going to continue to do it. Right? I don't know, a lot of people do this kind of self-aware meta thing. Maybe I haven't played enough games to understand it.

Honestly, that's just who I am and how I play regardless of alignment. I'm extremely self-conscious regardless of alignment. I won't always post what comes to mind because of what I can only call social anxiety. It's weird, that I play this game about communicating with others yet always feel nervous about sharing my thoughts. When I'm comfortable with a person or group of people, this isn't an issue, but the recent... emotion that has been conveyed through the thread isn't helping. I'm still relatively new to mafia (I think this is my 8th? game) and I am 16, and I know both of those characteristics tend to draw some unwanted attention.

"Are you fucking stupid? Blah blah blah"
Surprisingly, no one has really antagonized me for my age, but I feel like it goes through some of your minds when you interact with me, and it just comes out naturally because you're twice my age and I'm just an inferior teenager on his laptop sitting on his bed.

And some of you who have played with me may notice I tend to sheep often, and that's why. Not making an excuse if I tend to do it this game because I'm working on it, but... yeah.

Part of that paragraph came straight from another site where I played a mafia game (as scum albeit), one player here should recognize it. I used it because it really does epitomize what I want to explain. I don't feel like revealing the site though, so you'll just have to take my word and potentially the word of whoever played with me that game.

*takes deep breath*

Alright, rant over. :]

{---}

{skitter30}

{Sephiroth, Fro99er, Srceenplay}

{CultofAthena, Flavor Leaf, Creature, Stitch}

{Transcend, Mulch, Lalendra, UC Voyager}

{---}

{---}

Nothing strong yet.

Notable notes:
Spoiler:
Did a 180 on Sephiroth. They've been quite engaged, was the center of attention quite often, and I sense that they're posting without much self-consciousness that I would expect from scum.

UCV just doesn't seem very engaged and has vote-parked fro99er since RVS. He hasn't started sorting people at all.

Lalendra's only post of any substance looked opportunistic. Nothing else here, I need some more posts and advancement from her.

Transcend is being weird, but... pingingly weird: Claimed miller at 373; townread Clusk and consequently Mulch?; TRs Creature "because Creature", idk, I find that conspicuous. With some advancement I could TR this slot.

I have no fucking idea about Creature. Gun to head, I'd rather get shot.

I got kind of suspicious of Flavor Leaf because he has a lot of fluff, but eh... He's got reads and advancement, and has still yet to make a true reads post, and he's moving and busy with shit.

Stitch. Seemed opportunistic at first then not. Then someone brought up the idea that the game's stagnated because scum were complacent with his lynch, and that jived with me. They took on some unpopular opinions, which intrigued me, but then they never pursued it and I lost interest. Also on an unrelated note, is Stitch an alt???

Still suspicious of Mulch after he blew up. Don't like how they transitioned from skitter-scum to skitter-town during their 1v1. His reads are all meta-based, and he's not pushing anything, just cruising with whatever can get people off his back.

In post 697, Srceenplay wrote:Yoshi how do you feel your list compares to Sephiroth?
Not sure what you mean by "compare", but I'll just elaborate thoughts and hope it's what you wanted.

Firstly, writing people off in a separate column as "lurkers" seems non-committal. You can still get reads, and I feel like the emphasis it's placing on lurking could come from scum looking to keep their options open.

I don't understand the Creature read, from anyone for that matter since a lot of people are writing him off as town. I dun git it.

Flavor Leaf as town is weird. They had a skirmish with regards to the L-1 vote on Fro99er and something about meta, and if it doesn't infer a scumread then at the very least it doesn't infer a townread. There's nothing in their ISO that would suggest that he townreads him.

Fro99er I personally disagree with, but it doesn't stand out that much. Sephiroth got hung up over his request for a claim, and although that doesn't mean anything to me, I can see Sephiroth genuinely believing in this.

And overall there's a lack of read fluidity. If Seph hadn't posted this, you probably couldn't gather many of these reads. I feel that that is because they were too focused on their defense, but I don't find that particularly scummy. I mean, I don't think Seph focused on it because he's scum, but rather because he truly was caught up in questions and suspicion. Their posting style as I mentioned before still triumphs any of these scummy things I pointed out, and it's a step up that he's now formulating reads, I would like some more explanation though.

Here is what bothered me about their list.
Me and frog on opposite ends. I think post wise frog and my content has been about the same. It also seems to me our reads have been about the same. To put us at opposite ends just looked to me like someone throwing names around.

The they put trans at scum and right after appeared to try and engage Transcend. It felt fake and shallow to me.
I agree that your posts and reads are quite similar, and I'd have to guess that Fro99er's request for a claim made the difference. It's definitely a miniscule detail. I certainly don't agree with the read, but I can see him genuinely thinking that after being noticeably perturbed by Fro99er.
In post 216, Sephiroth wrote:Does no one else find fro99er scummy for asking me to claim for no reason?
This right here seems like it's genuine.

Her attempt to engage Transcend could go either way for me. Specifically engaging Transcend among others seems off, but right before that list Transcend made a fluff post, so I can see why Transcend was singled out. The question itself is reasonable too, I feel. He's just parked CoA since the early game. What say you?

He had the thing with FL putting Fro99er at L-1, and then the related, and elongated talk about meta. I think it's their style to inflate things like that. I don't know, it kinda aligns with the general feel I get from them as a player.

I feel less good about srceen than when I made that post but meh.
You hardly explained them at all. You can't elaborate your reads any further than that? I'm perfectly fine with gut reads, and I pay them respect when used in moderation because sometimes that's all I can use to explain a read of my own, but this just sounds non-committal and frankly scummy. You don't have to decide between two different ways of reading players, employ them both and use it to come to a general read.

Oh my god, my mafia career in less than 20 words.

So... this people-pleasing thing is a lot less developed to FL than I thought. I mean, it jived with me a little bit, and I implied that he found it scummy and that he thought Seph's read list was somewhat fabricated as a result. Then he said he wasn't sure if it was important and even unsure who it would be appealing to and now and it feels like unnecessary shade and/or he's backed off a push he knew he couldn't continue with.

And another thing he's pushed that I dislike is that there was no reason to townread him or Screen. There's quite the arrogant undertone in this I feel, that he can control everyone's reads and anyone who doesn't follow is suspicious. When someone reveals a townread, I don't think the natural route is to say there's no reason to townread them, but instead ask why and then counter the argument. This, again, feels like unnecessary shade.

Something about the neighborhood is pinging me too.
"There's no reason to lie about it right now."
Well, there was no reason to bring it up in the first place. It's not something I can articulate well, in fact, none of this is something I feel I articulated well, so I'll just leave it at that.

I've been meaning to be less blunt about this, but I think someone's ego went to their head. From what I remember, I thought both you and Seph made sense while Flavor Leaf, not so much, but I think how Flavor Leaf played last night is more reminiscent of his ego more than his alignment.

However, this neighborhood claim is fishy as hell. At first, completely unprovoked, and because he wanted to say someone else agrees and wanted to push their reads? Then, after being self-proclaimed king of mafia and obvious townie within a matter of days, he reveals his neighbor. Not following this process at all.

Transcend feels too detached from any interaction that happens in-game. I don't like how he said absolutely nothing about stitch and proceeded to vote him after begging someone else to convince him, which really wasn't much convincing at all. I'll have to review when he did that though.

By that argument wouldn’t he not vote his partner?
I mean with the lack of convincing that was done.
I feel like Stitch was likely used to bus. The thread stagnated when he was wagoned, and that threw me back thinking he was town, but now I think it's a sign that his partners were content with his lynch and/or bussing him. I don't remember Stitch doing much to defend himself. Transcend was probably content with bussing. The vote itself doesn't feel like it was a townie trying to help town. Stitch and Transcend bailed after that.

I'll say, though, that no interest does not equal detachment. He pushed, but not because he was engaged.

I agree that he was likely bussed, but I don't think it was Transcend.

I absolutely would not put it past scum!FL to bus his partner that way. Remember how he was tying Seph to a scum!Stitch flip?
Alright cool, so how do you feel about Uzi being a potential mafia partner?

Are you disregarding the possibility that Yoshi and Frogger are scumbuddies?
Yes because chasing associatives so early in the game is pointless. If it came to that it'd be better to lynch Frogger first anyway (who I'm not scumreading to begin with).
There were more so let me just respond to them all. Which one do you think "meant something"? This one, where he acknowledges Athena's suggestion that you could be scum but still expresses a preference to lynch someone else?
He's town-reading me here. Read the context.

too lazy to quote this again but I agree with Athena's posts not having a lot of purpose. There's stuff like "I think Frogger is town as well, but the self-wagon is a poor reason to think so." that has no reason to be there, it's not like she's trying to start a conversation with it so its pretty weird.

I've thought about it for a while and realised the part that bothers me about Yoshi is that they're very cautious with their posting. They always seem to have an alternative reason for why their conclusion might be wrong. This is something I think is more likely to come from scum because it gives them flexibility to bounce to a different read while still having some ground for it in the past and generally scum are more aware of the flaws in their cases than townies are (or else townies wouldn't be voting them). Their vote for Mulch in particular bothered me for this line:
I don't understand why you would blow up like this. This honestly makes me feel it too scummy to be scum, but this has reached a level past THAT.
It reads to me like Yoshi just REALLY WANTS to vote Mulch in this scenario rather than being a genuine reaction to Mulch's posts.

I'll take you at your word because of personal experience. Fwiw I didn't think you were a teenager or anything if it bothers you that much, don't worry about that. I would like you to explain why Mulch went beyond too scummy to be scum because that's the main part of your content that bothers me now. It feels like a very easy stance to take and I can't really see your thought process there. I can see later content like #705 as town though

Also @ is Stitch an alt I have offsite experience. This game is way different to main site stuff and tbh it's pretty hard to process when I ended up with more commitments than I expected. I don't really know how to respond to votes on me when most are pretty small to begin with.

FL, why would you ever play intentionally non-townie outside of concealing a power role (which you really aren't now). I don't get how the question to Seph was relevant to your vote on him. It was a loaded question where you could have voted for him after in disagreement by saying "yeah then if that's not your normal behaviour" and I don't understand why you would out that you have this very-townie-neighbour-friend but only halfway. If you were going to defend the slot outright it would be a different thing but I don't see what you would gain from doing this as town.

I don't care about Lalalalala at all. They haven't done much and what they have is null which bothers me because UCV is in a similar vote but asks questions without following up on them/drawing any conclusions which just looks like he's coming up with them as fake content. Probability posts are among the easiest things for scum to fake because they don't even have to lie a single bit about it.

VOTE: Flavor Leaf
Or this one, where you two have an utterly unconvincing exchange and then he moves his vote off of you?
Yes. We did have an exchange and he moved his vote. What was unconvincing about it?

So did you never agree that Stitch was likely bussed?
I was asking their thoughts on it.
You don’t need to block the answer.

I said I can see mulch bussing. He has done it before. That’s not a blank statement saying he was bussed by anyone.
Okay, and I didn't block the answer. Skitter answered you before I said anything.

More dependent upon how I am IRL; but I'm not sure actually. I'd say less.

And on that note, school starts again on Tuesday, so I'll be a little less active starting on Tuesday.

I think that Transcend's town unfortunately. LUV's probably town, as are frogger/yoshi. I still don't have a read on creature tbh.

Why would boon protect town!myself when he knows I know his meta as scum. Wouldn't scum!boon want to get rid of town!me before I catch on to no one scum meta?
