It's the kind of decision that warrants some kind of check that it's on the up and up. Also, Goodell hasn't come down hard on someone without evidence or justification recently, and this seems the perfect opportunity to wrongly screw someone.
This seems completely reasonable tbh. I hadn't thought about it before, but that kneel could definitely have been dirty
I'm not saying it was - I just think they wanted to get the fuck out of there because the game was over but the extra point was mandatory - but given the documented evidence of how poorly players manage their money and how relatively low-paid specialists and special teams players are (and some coaches, for that matter, especially compared to the top college equivalents), it's totally believable that something nefarious could have gone on. Especially because it didn't affect the outcome of the game, just whether they covered the spread or not.

it's stupid that in a situation like that that kicking the extra point is mandatory, and the only reason it makes sense that it is mandatory is to support the betting world, which is fucking terrible

Right, I'm not saying it for sure was either, just that I see your point and share your surprise that no one has looked into it yet.
If the extra point/two point conversion play had resulted in a fumble, most point saints could get would be 2 points with the game ending 29-26. If the extra point/two point had been successful it could have been 30-24 or 31-24. The play after the score could not effect the outcome, only effect gambling results. An investigation into these items could happen but it would be hard to prove a lot. Its unlikely but still possible a player could have gotten injured on the play after the score. So kneeling down is the right call to keep healthy and not pile on the points against the Saints.

It doesn't go much into the why, but FiveThirtyEight wrote about this phenomenon a while back.

Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
I'm okay with like "guys eat better, train harder so their kicks go further" but like...they aren't going THAT much further, they're just going in more. They are going straighter. In 1990(the year of wide right) 69% was good enough for 22nd in the league. 22nd in the league last year was 80%.
The tl;dr of the article I linked is that the rate of kicker improvement is virtually unchanged since at least the 1960s, so that would rule out trends that have only been happening for the last 20 years or so.

Wasn't mcadoo in charge of play calling or running some parts of the Giantas Offense during the year, and then he quit doing that part for some reason? Interviewing him is dumb for many reasons. I really hope Browns do not hire him.

he did lots of really stupid stuff, I couldn't believe he was a coach, I can't believe they let him coach for as long as they did, he's one of the worst coaches I've seen in the past 20+ years I think?
