I'm strongly considering this. The only thing that gives me pause is someone is going who really really really dislikes me for reasons I don't fully understand.

If I could get assurances from that person that they will be able to just let that go and not make a thing about it (I will have no problem doing that also). I'd like to attend.

I also left this vague on purpose. I'm not planning on saying any names.

You guys are very different magic players than me I suspect, in terms of what we find fun in the game.

Also I drafted unstable exactly one time, and am not really interested in doing so again. But that one time is kind of a life highlight:

live stream of the tribals is just spoilers of the results, right?

Y'all can wait a week + production time to find out the results, just like real survivor but with a shortened time scale.

In post 1135, zoraster wrote:Question: what were people's favorite challenges?
Least favorite:
Puzzle.

Its not that the challenge itself is bad, per se, but rather that the puzzle was so large that it took too long to get through, and the fact that it was a group of 8 trying to get at it all at once around a small table made it play out significantly worse than it could have. I think this is a good challenge but with a smaller puzzle and maybe later on would make it work better.

Eating.

I understand that this is survivor and that this is a thing that sometimes happens on survivor, but at the same time, this is not real survivor. We're not actually stranded in the woods. We're not actually competing for millions of dollars. We're a bunch of nerds who are trying to have some fun and play some games. Making a challenge that explicitly can't be completed by a vegetarian is really shitty. Even more shitty is that it was the challenge where I needed to win immunity or face going home. You put me between my morals and the game we were playing, which I didn't appreciate. Maybe if this were real survivor it would have led to drama and an interesting (maybe possibly different) decision, but as it was, it was not. If you want to do food challenges, you are also able to construct them without meat. Garlic, durian, whole onion, whole hot pepper. Whatever. I was legitimately very upset about this and I really strongly suggest you don't do it again.

Most Favorite:
idol hands

Challenge was great. I had a lot of fun.

Poker Chip Stacking

I may be biased because I won this but this was a very good version of "who wants it more." We were able to all get up to ten chips very easily and then from there it became a question of actual endurance. It became progressively more uncomfortable as the time passed. Really nailed what it was going for imo. I'm not a huge fan of the next challenge, maybe 5 minutes after, also be an endurance challenge, but that was not an issue with either challenge in themselves, just the scheduling of them, and the fact that I was at a disadvantage in the second because I was not yet recovered from the first.

Overall I'd like to see more physical challenges. I know thats hard because you don't want to risk injury, but I felt like there could have been a little bit more of physical with a mental component, ala the classic combination lock challenge.

The other thing with the way that challenge was designed is that because of the size of the puzzle, the tying and untying parts weren't really that important. No matter how the bag was tied, it didn't amount to more than a 30 second-2 minute advantage at the most in the challenge. In a 45 minute challenge, that's not very much at all.

Rules of the game defines the morals within the game. This is why I can punch you in the face if we're boxing but not if we're playing checkers. The rules of survivor are such that backstabbing et al are baked into the game you are playing. Again, I am morally opposed to punching people in the face, but I have no problem doing so when I'm boxing.

on the other hand, my decision to not eat meat is a moral decision that transcends the rules of the game. Eating meat is not made substantively different in terms of its global environmental impact because it happens during a game of survivor. So, while it may be a thing that happens within survivor and is therefore "fair game" I am making a prescriptive argument, not a descriptive argument. I am not arguing that it is not a thing that happens in survivor, I am arguing that it ought not to happen in our games of survivor, because it is substantively different in terms of how it fits into peoples world view. I have no problem betraying people in a game of survivor because that is what the game of survivor is about. It is therefore not immoral to do so. But making it part of the game does not change my feelings on out of game morality. If I backstab someone in a game of survivor they are not backstabbed out of the game. If I eat meat in the game not only will I still have eaten meat outside of the game, but also I will probably get very fucking sick because I haven't eaten meat in 2 years and my body is no longer used to it. There is no reason to have this challenge besides "well, its a thing that sometimes happens." but there have been plenty of seasons without an equivalent challenge, its not like its not survivor without it. That means it is a conscious choice to alienate vegetarian players when you could....just....not do that? Additionally, as I already mentioned, even if you insist there has to be a gross food challenge (which, again, not true) it can easily be done vegetarian.

I think in general it would've been cool to have more relays that involved 1v1s to score points for your team. Idol hands is a great style of challenge imo. If we could add in some sort of obstacle course (nothing too crazy) that involved going over and under things that would be really cool.
Second this. There was only the idol hands for team challenges that you competed one on one (and I guess sort of the water bucket one?)
