Have a great idea for a cool Survivor theme? Need somebody to help co-mod that Big Brother game you've been planning? This thread is the place for you.
How to announce your planned game
This thread is for games that are
still in development
and are not ready to be run. If your game is complete and ready to go, please use the Queue thread.
If you have a game you want to run, all you need to do is post the name, flavor, and any co-mods you have on board. That's it! Other details such as the number of players or whether it's anonymous/non-anonymous are welcome but are not mandatory. Your game will be added to the list of games in development.
There are requirements your moderation team must meet before your game is allowed to run.
All games must have three people on the moderating team. It is up to you how the division of duties will be handled, and it is up to you whether the game has three co-mods or two co-mods and a backup moderator for when the main moderators cannot access the forum, but there must be three people. Pairs who have successfully run a game in the past with no major issues may request a waiver from this requirement.
If anybody on the moderation team has never moderated a game before, then at least one of the other co-mods must have two or more games moderated with no major issues.
Moderators with a recent history of serious problems in their games may also be required to have a co-mod with 2+ problem-free games. Some of these problems include but are not limited to: Flaking, anonymity breaches, inappropriate mod interference, and game-breaking imbalances.
All moderators must have at least completed one game onsite or been a member of MafiaScum for at least 3 months
Unlike the Mafia queues, off-site games MAY be counted towards moderating experience at the discretion of the Large Social Game moderators.
If you need other co-mods to help meet these requirements you may ask for their services here.

Still need to get some actual momentum going on Survivor: Star Wars... about the scrap the thing and start over.
I have some other themes in my head. I'd be willing to take more of a "guardian" role on these games to help some newer mods get their feet wet with designing, setting up a forum, etc. One bit of warning in working with me, once I get really going on something I tend to work like a fucking madman till it's done so be aware of the pace of that if you wanna mod with me!
I have nothing in mind for these games yet, just general themes. I would ideally sign up to help with theming and graphics and provide advice/tutorials on how to do actual setup/best practices for any mods who want to learn. I'm fine filling whatever role is needed on a given mod team though.
Potential themes:
- Pantheon (people sign up as gods from various pantheons)
- Final Fantasy (and/or just general JRPGs, maybe a 16-bit restriction for avatars?)
- South Park
- Smash Bros.
The idea here would be to get different mods on the games and get them all ready to run so that they can run as needed and that way we'd have a bigger pool of mods. So if you've ever wanted to mod but haven't known how to do stuff or haven't been able to learn now is your chance.
This game will be for 20 players and will feature all players playing as Greek gods!
Players will battle for Zeus' throne on Mount Olympus while trying to prove, once and for all, which god or goddess deserves to be the ONE TRUE GOD.
We're in mechanics planning stages right and will keep everyone updated!
It is not Survivor. It is not Big Brother. It draws on both, but will be it's own, very different thing, with an emphasis on challenge performance.
It is also 16 players, with every player controlling 2 in-game "characters." So there will be 32 characters controlled by 16 players (it'll also probably be shorter than most large socials).
Looking for 2-3 co-mods for this shit. It should actually be a reasonably easy game to run, based on my early ideas/conceptions.
I think the idea of an all-winners season where the cast list is known but the characters aren't is pretty interesting.
- ID hunting, which already happens, would be a natural part of the game
- Mechanics could be implemented to slowly reveal IDs over time (either flipping eliminated players or allowing people to reveal if they choose or giving out clues)
- It would alleviate the early-game problem of the biggest threats going down immediately but also ease the game towards a satisfying conclusion where people know who they are voting for
and also it seems weird to not run it at least somewhat hidden. these are all the big winners of anon games, seems weird to not at least give them cover of anonymity to start
i would say that batwoman and hermione are wildly different games, it's not any one particular playstyle, so the ability to hide behind a character, at least partially, is important for a lot of winning games
also i think multiple time winners will probably have a larger target on their backs: Snakes, Drench, me, Shiidaji, Ceph, hiplop, CC, Betch, Bella.
you could actually probably divide the starting tribes between multiple time winners and one time winners actually given how many repeats there have been
In post 246, DeathNote wrote:I think you just aren't giving yourself enough credit. You both just said you are not great players but do you honestly believe what the other wrote? I think both of you are good enough to win games and if I knew you were playing, I would actively want to be your friend or find a way to eliminate you... or both.
There isn't a person on that list of winners that I would be surprised to see win an All-Star game.
In fact, there is only one issue that I would be worried about in games like that being non-anon and thats that some people have obvious closer relations then other. People would be pointing out Shadow/Bella quite often or maybe BBM/CC.
In post 247, hiplop wrote:ogml needs to win a game so that we can be an obvious pair
i mean yea i think hiplop's good and im okay but we're not as elite as many other players in that list

the show seems to like one per tribe with replacement. if i were to adjust that at all i'd go less-ward.
i sign this
this, especially because on forum survivor you dont get to see people off hunting for idols so literally anyone could have it and there's no risk in trying to find one
a few games have tried to come up with cute ways to combat this but i dont think it was worked really
In post 449, CuddlyCaucasian wrote:I guess on the show, challenge strength is more easily apparent like someone being visibly super jacked or a fast runner, but I wish it was valued more on tribes or seen as a reason to vote someone out of a tribe. But yeah with constant swaps there's no incentive to care about how many challenges your tribe wins in the long-term. Literally the main reason I started doing more challenge-based games is that challenge design takes up the most time in modding Survivor, and it's the aspect of the game the majority of people care the least about
this is correct
People will often try to overlook the obvious weak/inactive player because they know they can just take out a threat to them instead and there's no incentive to taking out weak players early other than "keeping the peace" which leads to boring games and boring merges
Still looking for a dedicated group of co-mods to help me bang out the rest of Star Wars Survivor so it can try to run and coincide with The Last Jedi.
(Fun fact: originally, this planning process started 2 years ago in the leadup to The Force Awakens!)
And in any case, since UTL has siteflaked, xof and I are looking for a third co-mod to jump in for
Survivor: Mount Olympus
!
Most of the design is done, we need someone to look it over, help out on some challenges, and then help serve the day to day functions.
If you're able to mod and live in a non-EST timezone, even better!
hiplop & I are looking for a third mod to join us and help us design a wrestling-themed Survivor game!
I will be handling a lot of the visual necessities and hiplop and I both will help out with game design (as will this mod). The skill set we really need is someone who can come up with unique challenges, as it's probably our weakest point between the two of us.
