I have been obsessed with Slay the Spire for about a week now. A great combination of roguelike and deckbuilder, with a lot of room for variety, and a lot of room to grow.jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont

It's really hard to be a MOBA. You either have to be good enough to convince league and Dota players to spend 100s of hours learning your game, or have to be simple enough to attract the players that don't like the other 2.In post 2929, DeathNote wrote:Guys... Gigantic is getting discontinued
I personally really liked that game and wish that MOBAs weren't so flooded that it wasn't overwhelmed.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.- Alisae

Ascension has been a great way to learn that failure is fun again. Loving this game, in particular Shiv Silent and Rampage Ironborn. In post 2932, hasdgfas wrote:I have been obsessed with Slay the Spire for about a week now. I still feel like the first one is the best and KOTOR 2 has a darker gritty tone to it and that can appeal to a certain crowd. In post 2937, Sesq wrote:started playing kotor 2Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It's not necessarily darker and grittier as much as it plays with Star Wars lore a bit more. It's greyer as opposed to necessarily darker. If you're looking for the obvious "good v evil, Jedi v Sith" story, it's not that. But that doesn't make it required to be "darker and grittier".In post 2939, Nero Cain wrote:

Into the Breach is really good/annoyingOne time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.- xRECKONERx

My biggest problem with Into the Breach is that it combines "You're screwed, and there's nothing you can do about it" with "It's actually demonstrable your fault that you're screwed." Like, I keep getting into scenarios where I can't stop the Vek from destroying something, and then realizing that if I'd done something different last turn, I'd be better positioned now. It's also really addicting, though, since it's clear what's happening and why, and solving a turn feels awesome. One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. I'm looking for advice about the Trails in the Sky/Trails of Cold Steel games. I just got a Vita and thought it would be a good excuse to play them.
It seems like the PSP TitS games are the place to start, then ToCS on Vita (all playable on Vita, though PSP TitS3rd is JP-only).
Is this correct, or does fan nostalgia kinda elevate the TitS games? I'm interested because of the Persona+Suikoden talking point I keep hearing for ToCS.- Andrius

I think the key is realizing you *have* to let certain things die in the game. You can get power back, you can't get objectives/pilots back nearly as easily. In post 2946, xRECKONERx wrote:yeah. it pisses me off when i drop into a scenario and on the first turn the vek lock down a bomb or something and i have literally no way to deal w/ it
The difficulty spike is real though - I'm two achievements shy of perfect, one of which being HARD MODE which is harder just by means of throwing more vek at you per turn."This is the true face of a man who plays paladin."- Sudo_Nym

Yeah, recognizing that sometimes you just have to take the damage is definitely what lead to a rise in my game.In post 2948, Andrius wrote:In post 2945, Sudo_Nym wrote:My biggest problem with Into the Breach is that it combines "You're screwed, and there's nothing you can do about it" with "It's actually demonstrable your fault that you're screwed."
