edit: I am just going to edit this in instead of double posting, I think people should be ok with the title fairy thread having periods of inactivity rather then trying to force titles whenever this thread gets inactive for an extended period of time.In post 3445, Alisae wrote:That's also stupid because excluding people isn't niceLast edited by beeboy on Fri Oct 20, 2017 7:23 am, edited 1 time in total.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

Sorry when I read that title I can't really identify RC's personality, full name, address, interests, occupation, birthday, his dogs name and it doesn't embody everything RC has ever done on this site.
So I guess this just isn't special enough.
Next idea pls.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

I am not really sure I agree with this, I think the title fairy thread should be a needless circle jerk instead of a place to give people good titles.In post 4376, vonflare wrote:I'm taking this opportunity to say that the current title system is super awful and needs reform

Vonflare for Doot 2018
Nth
pedit: I mean I think that it being shoved down everyone's throat is what makes doot a recognizable title? Kinda like how the shit surrounding Kayak turned a really shitty title into an ok meme.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

I am not really sure why the bolded is needed? Like the title fairy is part of the site, there are titles based on survivor meets and other specific events so I don't see how that's a valid argument in regards to doot? It's just as recognizable and fits the same niche as Kayak which people obviously keep talking about because it's funny to them.In post 4489, mastina wrote:In case it wasn't clear, I typed 4484 before 4477 was posted, but since the nom has now officially been made, consider my 4484 an explicit
anti-nom.
Where does doot exist outside of this thread?
It's a serious question.
When has a doot nomination ever referenced anything except for content from this thread?
Still a serious question.
Like the "title must appeal to the broader community" argument is silly because people just bring it up as a really vague statement to disapprove of titles. It's why vague guidelines/rules in general tend to be pretty bad.Last edited by beeboy on Mon Feb 12, 2018 9:39 am, edited 1 time in total.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

This is roughly my pro doot argument as well.In post 4492, beeboy wrote:I am not really sure why the bolded is needed? It fits the same niche as Kayak does as a title that is just funny as a result of it being a meme created in this thread.
Also Doot does represent a part of Vonflare's personality as well as he tends to shitpost at times. (I don't really think that titles need to say anything about someones personality but it is there)

I don't think MattP's posts main argument was that Vonflare wanted the title and if Vonflare was neutral on the title people would still be asking for him to have it. I don't think him wanting the title actually means anything either way.

Doot nomination process has given me a lot of entertainment value, I don't think the last point stands.
I also heavily disagree how this is comparable to Shotty given many people on there own accord are campaigning for the title and the current movement hasn't been directly influenced by Vonflare?
I also don't think this argument is actually relevant at all in regards to whether or not the title is good and if you have an ethics issue with how this is handled I think you should talk to that with Psyche directly.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

If you think lying about your age while registering to a website is bad behavior then I am not really sure what to tell you.In post 4811, Shaziro wrote:You don't give people gifts for bad behavior.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

I mean you have to think about the purpose of the rule right?
The rule is in place because COPPA protects children 13 and under from having their personal information from being collected. It's not like the site has an issue with having young users it's just the law. It's not like Zor doesn't want him on the site he just literally didn't have a choice in the matter.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

I don't think Shaziro is saying that he thinks Sheep did something wrong, I think he is saying Sheep knowingly broke a site rule. (These are different statements)
But I think the rule being broken doesn't actually hurt the site in any meaningful way.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

In post 4831, Shaziro wrote:Potential legal problems for having somebody underage on the site.
It isn't a legal issue for the site since they had no knowledge he was under 13.COPPA imposes certain requirements on operators of websites or online services directed to children under 13 years of age, and on operators of other websites or online services that haveactual knowledgethat they are collecting personal information online from a child under 13 years of age.
Operators are also protected if they take reasonable effort to delete said information, aka banning him after he says he lied.
Shaziro I just think your missing that lying about your age actually has no legal consequences for anyone.ah yes, beeboy style reads;

You are protected if you delete the information from your site.In post 4836, Shaziro wrote:Yes, and when they gained the knowledge (because he was very open with it) it became a legal issue.

If someone lied about there age and later reveals they are under 13 deleting the information they provided the site is a standard action and by following that you are never at any risk. I don't think it's fair to say the site is at legal risk because they could decide to be really ignorant and ignore Sheep.In post 4838, Shaziro wrote:I'm not sure what you'd call having to take special nonstandard action to avoid breaking laws other than a legal issue, man.
I also don't think someone needing to delete the personal info he provided the site is a massive issue either considering we aren't really a site that collects that info anyway.ah yes, beeboy style reads;
