Night 0 - Deadly Encounter
Samurai?
Why would such warriors risk their lives for a bunch of farmers like us who can barely earn their leaving when the harvest is bountiful?
Three meals a day? Samurai are proud warriors who fight for honor, fame, or to show off their abilities. They will not fight for us simply for a handful of rice.
"Find hungry Samurai", said the Village elder. Everyone was silent.
A group of brave farmers fought against all odds and went on a journey to find Samurai good (or desperate) enough to help them.
In the end they finally found a group of
Ronin
that, for varied reasons, agreed to join the cruzade against the bandit menace.
But time is something they do not have plenty of. As soon as the Samurai arrived they asked for a map of the Village and visited every corner of it, trying to find the proper way of defending every possible route the bandits could take.
BrizzyBoi
- By the time the bandits arrive the farmland will be flooded. At least I hope so.
M4yhem
- I think it would be better if we dismantled that bridge. They won't be able to cross the river by horse.
Romanus
- It won't be hard to build barricades all over the Village border.
mole
- Suppose you are a bandit and the town is fully protected like we are planning. How would you attack?
monsieurchouette
- From the hills.
The plan was not fortify the city entirely (which could lead the bandits to lay a siege) but leave a route open for the outlaws to pass, and with an army of farmers wielding pikes let the first few bandits pass and block the way of the others.
Dividing the enemy forces this way would be the best method to defeat them.
Of course much had to be done. There were farmers to train, weapons to make and fortifications to build. The work was divided evenly among the
Ronin
and some Villagers.
While everyone is still working on the war preparations a mysterious figure approaches the place where the bowls of rice that will soon be sent to the Samurai are being kept.
It is
Rosso Carne
, an he grins evily while spreading a white powder all over one of the bowls.
Rosso Carne
- hehehe, I don't need to be a warrior if I can kill people this way.
He is about to do the same on the next bowl when he notices he is not alone.
*****
calmly pours priming powder into the pan of his
Arquebus.
Rosso Carne
- Oh, no. Busted. I didn't expect to find anyone here...
*****
-
*shakes the excess powder ot of the pan*
Rosso Carne
- Please, it's not what you think...
*****
-
*blows excess powder off the pan*
Rosso Carne
- I didn't mean to hurt anyone...
*****
-
*rests the butt of the gun on the ground*
Rosso Carne
- But it's my daughter, she is all i have...
*****
-
*fills the weapon with charge*
Rosso Carne
- Those Samurai, women go crazy for them...
*****
-
*takes a ball from the pocket and inserts in the barrel*
Rosso Carne
- Specially the young girls...
*****
-
*takes a ranrod from a holder*
Rosso Carne
- Rice will always be planted and harvested...
*****
-
*inserts ranrod in the barrel to seat the charge*
Rosso Carne
- But my name is unique...
*****
-
*removes and turns ranrod*
Rosso Carne
- If my name is disgraced, it's all over to me...
*****
-
*puts ranrod back in the holder*
Rosso Carne
- That's why I had to do it...
*****
-
*holds weapon and gets matchcord*
Rosso Carne
- Please, don't tell anyone...
*****
-
*blows on the match and cocks it on the matchlock*
Rosso Carne
- I promise I will compensate my mistake...
*****
-
*blows on the match and opens pan*
Rosso Carne
- Hey, what are you doing with this? I thought Samurai didn't use firearms
*****
-
*points to Rosso's chest.*
*****
- I am not a Samurai.
*blinks*
Rosso Carne
was Manzo, Angry Villager.
Manzo never liked the idea of bringing Samurai into town. They just eat their better rice, drink their better sake, and sleep in people’s homes while villagers sleep in empty barns.
Manzo was afraid, above all, that one of those Samurai would bring shame to his family by seducing his daughter, Shino.
Angry with bandits, Samurai, and the traitors who hired them alike; Manzo decided to get rid of them himself.
Being no warrior he could every Night choose a Player, that Player would live another Day and die poisoned the next Night.
The sound of a gunshot in the middle of the town took everyone by surprise.
No one knew where it came from exactly, and just after some time was Manzo's corpse found lying on the floor with a hole in the chest.
mlaker
- So, they are here among us. the bandits know about our presence and are trying to sabotage us.
Kain
- Are our plans lost now?
Kaebamf
- I don't think so. As soon as the spies have no communication with the other bandits they can't tell about our plans.
ShadowLurker
- There is at least a traitor among us, with a firearm hidden somewhere. His/their plan is probably stop us by killing everyone at Night.
HurriKaty
- We should gather now and discuss until we find who the spy is. and then we get rid of him.
ChannelDelibird
- Well, gentleman. I agree that something must be done, but we can't think right with an empty stomach. Why don't we go eat now and discuss this later?
Everyone seem to like the idea and go have their third meal of the day.
[i]"Dead Rikimaru is... well, dead. When the lights came back on, he was found turned inside-out, somehow. Disgusting, really. Anyway, he was "Dead Dead Rikimaru" (Self-fulfilling Prophecy)".
