Thanks. It will be much more than a week's notice. I just need to get through a tight budget period before putting the deposit down on the suite. Other than a small chance of me going to reserve it and finding that it's already booked, I don't see the date changing.Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

The suite has been reserved and the OP has been updated. Go ahead and buy tickets. Let me know if you need information about local hotels or whatever. PM me for the address if you want to use googlemaps or whatever to check out the neighborhood.
Also added to the OP is a to do list, some of which would benefit from group discussion. Also, feel free to suggest additions.Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

So here be Troll's current plans.
Troll will catch a morning train on Friday and arrive in Portland sometime around noon. Troll will either meet up with Troll's friends for the day, meet with scummers who be arriving early or amuse Troll on Troll's own for a while.
Troll will be bringing Robo Rally and Illuminati (with the Y2K expansion) as far as games go. We need not play either but Troll be fond of both.
Troll sort of be thinking that the Tugboat might be nice for a Friday late afternoon/early evening activity and that we could have some sort of breakfast trip on Sunday Morning. Troll might vote for the Pancake house thing as a Saturday at 3:00/4:00 AM type activity. Other than that Troll be flexible about the excursions. Troll envisions Saturday being a day for games and trips for people to choose between.
Troll be happy to help with the food however Xine would like help but be fine letting her be in charge. Troll would be happy to participate in a shopping trip early in the event if that was to come up for instance. Troll (as stated elsewhere) be vegetarian but has no problem helping to prepare all sorts of foods as we deem useful.
Troll will head home on Monday morning but expects to spend the evening Sunday with Troll's friends in the area as Troll suspects that most others will leave during the day. Troll will see how much them be willing to come and do with us over the weekend; them should be up for some fun though.
If there be other things that it would be handy for Troll to establish now do let Troll know.

Noted, Zorb. I'd like to hear everyone's ideas on what/when and see where everything falls. I haven't put much thought into a schedule myself but it seems appropriate for Saturday gaming to be the focus, with stragglers gaming on Sunday. I like the idea of the casual brewery trip on Friday, especially if some of the under 21 crowd want to hang out at the suite. That way people can join either scene as they trickle into town and then we bring them together.
I want the schedule to be as loose as possible, so people are free to break off into whatever groups and do whatever they want, so I think the best way to go about it is to plan a few things that we'll do together and leave most of it entirely open. Friday evening meal is probably good to keep low maintainance and piecemeal, like Papa Murphy's or something. Saturday food should be the most prep-heavy. I like the idea of breakfast/brunch/lunch out before people leave on Sunday. I'm also looking forward to a Sunday-evening hangers-on party for people who live closer or don't have to work on Monday.
I'm really excited about this.
Not really sure. Probably 1-2 of the rectangular office style, or 2-3 round/square card tables. More if my apartment is also vacant. As we get closer to the date, it will be handy for people to RSVP with guest numbers so that we can know what sort of seating we'll need, but I doubt we'd use a whole rack of chairs.Miyu wrote:How large of folding tables are you thinking and how many?Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

Also, Xine said she'd make an account and chat about food arrangements with anyone who's interested. Probably sometime in the next few days but don't hold your breath, she just went through a major schedule change.Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

I am back from my trip to Oregon and back, and got to see some cool stuff.
Menu items:
I can cook most any pasta or lasagna. I make a good pasta salad
With access to a decent size grill, I could grill us some chicken, potatoes, corn, garlic bread, etc. I have two small portable grills I could bring, but with high attendance, bigger grills are ideal. For a group of 15 friends, I spent about $50 to feed people grilled artichoke, carne asada, pasta salad, and garlic bread.
Games:
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Bang!
Settlers of Catan (& Expansion)
Fluxx
many many more. I have a boardgamegeek account under Dolus (if not that, then ImDolus or DolusDeceit).AIM account: DolusDeceit [s]not al_kohaulec[/s]-

Xine's account is stuck in verification, but she'll be here soon. I promise.
@al:Which Settlers expansion do you have? We've got Cities & Knights. Maybe I'll brainstorm crazy house rules that allow us to connect all the boards. We already have an awesome homebrew 2v2 variation. Ireallyhope Josh shows up for this or at least gives us the keys to his game stash. He's got enough Heroscape to fill three tables.Record:Town 10W/15LScum 4W/1LOther 2W/2LNewbie 1L

I have the game and expansion for settlers, C&K, and Seafarers. I have been thinking about getting Traders & Barbarians or w/e it's called. So for any version 3-6 players following the rules, or modified rules to do more/less. (Team-based if we have more, or just multiple game sessions).AIM account: DolusDeceit [s]not al_kohaulec[/s]-
