Do most of us who rate this high know Japanese?
Do we search the lyrics?

I mean, you can do whatever you want. Me personally, I don't really listen to the lyrics of most of the song contest songs. I'm just not that good at understanding lyrics in general a lot of the time whether they're in English or not. I'm probably more likely to understand them if it's like an acoustic song or something where the voice is prominent and the enunciation is clear, but other than that it takes a back seat to the voice itself and the music.

So I'm pretty sure most people will dislike my song, but if you do like it: VK is one of my favourite composers there currently are, and it's about the only 'classical' music I listen.
Imo his best pieces are Pure White and Yawning Lion. I didn't submit the latter because I didn't find a really good version on youtube (now I have but lol)

Hmm, I'm on various sites and I reckon some servers are dead as some seem to be varying levels of down (imgur is completely dead) and maybe clyp.it is just part of that

End of Round One Notes: Yeah... This contest has a LOT of good picks. (This is possibly the single best contest I've judged so far). Even out of those I've eliminated so far, I've eliminated simply because I knew they couldn't compete with the rest, but they're not bad songs at all.

Round Two: Trying to cut this list down to the top ten. It's been tough as hell, but I'm going to have to say goodbye to these following songs, even though they are of a high quality. I'll add a little blurb as to why:

- Canada - Ficus - Level Up ft. Cise Starr - This is a good song that turned OK. It has a good beat. It has a good flow. The background is good. Here's the problem and this problem is what took it out of the top ten for me - development. There was none. The background kept going over and over again, with no development. No change. It's nice but eventually, it just couldn't compete with the others.
- Botswana - Echo and the Bunnymen - Killing Moon - It's an enjoyable song. It has this catchy, albeit slightly dated slightly dated feel to it. It's awkward - absolutely awkward, but I love it in a way. Unfortunately, it's just not up to par with my top ten.
- Latvia - Bella Morte - The Metro - I like the guitar. I like the background music. It gives me some good 80s memories, but it's a bit too alternative for my tastes. I asked for a glass of milk, and I got a gallon.
- Uruguay - Chris Thile - The Beekeeper - The guitarist is very talented, although I've enjoyed the violinist a bit more. They work well together too. I've really enjoyed the song... until I got to the middle. The guitarist had begun to overpower the violinist, and I begun to like it a bit less. It appeared to start out as very calming then intended to hype me up. It didn't work too well.
- Philippines - Zak Abel - Running From Myself - I wish I had more to say about it. I like this song. I really do. The problem is that it doesn't have the wow factor. I wasn't wow'd. I wasn't blown away, not even a little. I just enjoyed it. Nothing offensive, but nothing that I can do to push it.
- Macedonia - First Aid Kit - Heavy Storm - I really liked this song. I almost feel biased toward it. I like the fact that these two are sisters whose voices blend together well. It makes me think of this group's origin and how they got to where they are today. It's very calming and the guitar works. Unfortunately, I'm just not feeling any sentimental feelings toward this song.

Final Notes: I went through all of these songs five times trying to cut this down to ten. It was very difficult and I've had to make tough decisions. I confirm my previous post where this is one of the best contests I've ever been a part of.

It's good, if I was into the genre. But I'm not into black metal. It was just too much for me.
