The only reasonable alternative to it being a real mason claim is Ranger assuming she'll be NK'd anyway and having a

really

strong town read on Python.
I suppose it's possible Scum!Ranger could do it to try to force masons to out to counter, but she'd be trading ID on the masons to a certain lim in a future day.
