Fair point. I don't think it's that clear every game, but I think that the creature thing is actually still bizarre anyway. I would likely say that creature in those mislynched games literally didn't do anything and if he contributed a tad bit more he would be town read?

That's a bit bizarre when you think about it. Creature is in the more extreme sides but I do think that some of the point stands. (I think NSG needs to put more effort for people to really town read her, rather than literally just post, act normally or etc fwiw. She is often town read because she puts effort into solving the game and it makes her motivations more transparent?) I'm not sure if it's constructive to discuss this to be fair, I don't have a problem with more nightless games I think even with the above they are balanced enough and fun, I would just have a problem with making nightless games the new standard across the site but I don't think that's likely to happen, ever.

Nightkill as far as I've seen in forum mafia, is pretty standard and ingrained. I don't think it's going away.

We don't even have enough nightless games around currently in my opinion (I don't really consider Nightless Jester because I think jester changes scum hunting too much), so I think criticizing them to that extent might be overdoing it. I think more often than not they are balanced but I could see for the above them being unfun often enough for scum if most games were to become nightless.

i've lynched efforting creature lol
it's not hard to convince people to do things if you hit the right notes
nsg went down screaming that i was scum at the top of her internet lungs

i really think the issue is that we coddle scum players and act like having to meaningfully towntell and fool half decent town players is unfair instead of nightkilling them and fooling the lowest common denominators
2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.

Ehh, that's a bit lol but I can understand how with the right gamestate scum would be able to pull that off
In post 126, RadiantCowbells wrote:it's not hard to convince people to do things if you hit the right notes
I think that kind of thing mostly happen when the game turns awful and town judgement is clouded
In post 126, RadiantCowbells wrote:i really think the issue is that we coddle scum players and act like having to meaningfully towntell and fool half decent town players is unfair instead of nightkilling them and fooling the lowest common denominators
I do think we coddle scum by making easy for them to get rid of the best townies but I also think we equally coddle town with PRs/mechanics.

Meh, I think this might be the kind of thing that only having more nightless games might be able to tell us something. I think more nightless games would be good anyway, they are fun.

(we should do half mast nightless for TM 2020 unironically, really)

I think the more invested town are at playing any game, can directly correlate with their chances of winning. Obviously, this isn’t the case when scum play well but in general, apathetic town=town losing. Scum are always motivated to win their games, because they take a win/loss more personally but when town really doesn’t care about the game, scum almost always wins and taking into account the long two week deadlines and larges lasting so long, town. is more likely to burn out than in shorter games, except when the game design is super interesting.

When you sign up to play a large theme, you aren't signing up to maximize your odds of winning, you're more or less going to an online social gathering.

I prefer my gatherings where RC makes the game to a communist era regime and grab my popcorn.

Tru dat. Larges with RC > larges w/o RC.

Yeah, you always want to be the same alignment as RC. However, I won in two games as scum when he was town.

We don't talk winning here, we talk enjoyment of the game and with town RC around, you can't have fun as a scum or he will point finger at you and you're done

If you're town and RC is town, grab a beer or a nice alcoholic drink. It'll be a fun time.

One of them was a Hydra game which I don't count

The other I had all 3 scum yourself included in my top scumreads but town chose to ignore my reads in favor of 1) ankamius pairing with me so she could suicide bomb me and 2) everyone ignored me when I said gamma should be left out and then Gammas pair ended up being the IC

Not even bringing up that in both masquerade and that game I said a pairing was TvT (moment TheBrie vs SS Titus) and town decided their reads were better and lynched them anyway

Like I'm sorry but I wouldn't need to bring stuff like that up if everyone else didn't feel the need to bring whatever they can up to either lift themselves up at my expense or just knock me down a peg in general.

that one action was exactly what pissed me off so much that I couldn't see past your trick
