I'm not sure about pusing for a claim. There's 9 of us here, and it's likely that only one of us is evil (but possibly 2). So we'll call it a 7.5 in 9 chance that we're bandwagonning a townie role into the open if we force a claim. If it were certain that we would catch a mafia as soon as he claimed, then it would probably be fairly close as to what the optimal strategy should be, but given that so many of the claims are not immediately refutable, I tend to think that not forcing claims is the way to go.

I think I'd rather take the approach of bandwagonning with the intent to lynch and backing down from the lynch only if there's near-certain proof of someone's role, rather than saying "Oh, I think the claim is believable, let's all back down now."
When I have played this in real life, we have always known what roles were in the game. I can see how it complicates it to not know.
Aside: Yes, and this has to be one of my favorite parts of online mafia. Designing a game is a lot of work, so if you want to play ten games in a row of a new variant, you have to spend quite a lot of time preparing. Here, just about every game has not only the intrigue within the game, but the intrigue relating to how the game itself has been designed.

Well, I'm more saying that the non-you's of us should deicde whether or not they want to force you to claim given that I don't feel that they should back down if you come out with anything less than a provable claim. Beyond this, I personally don't find you in particular that suspicious yet.

I think you should hold off at least until someone argues this point with me.

We're in quite a sweet position as town, with 2 scum down already, and only one town dead. And because of that I think we can afford to bandwagon with intent to lynch (as mathcam has suggested). It would certainly generate the interest back into this game.

My suspicion of Morpheus wasn't based on lurking. It was really just a feeling that he gave me, that quite possibly meant nothing.
And if we're bandwagoning with intent to lynch then I'd rather potentially get rid of someone who is not contributing, than someone who I know will continue to contribute. Therefore:
unvote: Morpheus

And I'll go back to my earlier vote:
vote: bloojay

Hmmm things have slowed down.
If the Morpheus bandwagon has run out of steam, I would be prepared to unvote him and join Darkbalde in forming a crazed lynch mob in mlakers direction. Any one else wnat to go there?

Mathcam, who do you wnat to railroad - are you still suspicious of Talitha?

Hm, deadline.

Well, I don't think the wagon against Morpheus is going anywhere, and he's certainly been more present than Bloojay.
Unvote: Morpheus
.

I don't find mlaker particularly suspicious, and I have some ideas forming about just_nigel yet again.

Reading through, I agree with the just_nigel bandwagon the most. His quote above
Mathcam, who do you wnat to railroad - are you still suspicious of Talitha?
was the icing on the cake.

Vote: just_nigel

So Mathcam, I'll take that as who do you suspect?
"you"

Are you still suspicious of Talitha?
"No, but I am of you!"

Not quite the result I was looking for.

What result were you looking for j_n? Best if you have suspicions of me that you state them yourself, rather than prod others to do the dirty work.

This is the second time you've appealed to someone in this way. (Earlier it was Darkblade, now mathcam. Neither of them are confirmed innocents by any means.)

I'd put your statements down to a newbie lack of confidence, but I know you're not lacking in confidence after your vigorous expression of your suspicions earlier.

So I think you should probably claim. I can't speak for the others, but I wont vote for you over bloojay if I feel like you're innocent (from your claim).

I did not understand from Mathcam why he voted for me just because i asked his opinion, but i can now see what the concern was.

No I do not suspect you Talitha, as I have said my fossing is on mlaker and morpheus (and I am starting to look bloojay's direction).

I ask people directy what they think, not as a lack of confidence on my part to say what I think, but to try and put them on the spot, to make them explain themselves. I think the scum would want to put votes and suspicion on people for no good reason other than they want to lynch townies, so by asking people to explainthemselves further I am trying to generate more conversation.

Sorry if it was unclear. Yes, Talitha explained it well. It sure sounded like you were eager to jump on a bandwagon, but didn't want to start one yourself. Confidence issues aside, I still feel this way. My vote stays.

If this isn't scummy I'm not sure what is. And just_nigel, it doesn't have to be a random bandwagon there can be some reasoning behind a vote you know?

Well, the others pretty much outlined my thoughts on just_nigel (which were amplified by the reaction to his random bandwagonning yesterday and his strange three-person-obvious-conspiracy theory).

This is the fourth of five, so I suggest that nobody else vote for him until he speaks out:
Vote: just_nigel
. As Talitha already said: I suggest you claim, or try to.

Ok, role claim:
As indicated all along I am one of those who are not just on the council but also have a title and role (which is why I was originally suspicious of vanilla council members).

My title is "Bodyguard"
My role, like a traditional doctor, is to protect one member of the council each night. The one difference being that I am not guaranteed to prevent a mafia attack. Coolbot didn't spell out what this difference meant.

I now speculate that Coolbot didn't want to reveal the presence of a serial killer and that maybe I can't prevent mafia attacks at all but can prevent SK attacks. This may be what already happened on the first night. I am looking forward to the end of game phase to find out.

Sorry folk I suggest you all look somewhere else. (twitches his head towards mlaker, morpheus and bloojay).

Maybe tomorrow, just_nigel. That's by no means a verifiable role, so according to my aforementioned policy-of-the-day, my vote stays.

I'm not sure how a bodyguard could protect from a bomb/fire... it doesn't quite make sense.

Blegh, sorry for not posting. This whole time I've been pounding my head wondering whether to follow my old instincts and go after mlaker or to go after just_nigel. "Not guaranteed to stop mafia attacks" sounds more to me like a doc with a fail percentage. nigel's behavior could in fact be due to him being a SK, with the strong defence of others. I'm going to wait on his past night choices before I render judgement.
